Tyler Johnson grew up in Napa Valley, California and was quickly recognized as a major local talent. He has only had one piano teacher, Carolyn Long, alumni of USC Thornton School of Music. He won many awards growing up for his musicianship, including the Herb Alpert Scholarship, multiple 'Musician of the Year' at competitive music festivals and the Jerry Goldmsmith Film Composing Scholarship.
He studied Pre-College Division Classical Piano at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in his sophomore year of high school.
After graduating, he studied Audio Engineering and Recording Arts at Full Sail University in Orlando, FL and began working at Discovery Channel in Los Angeles composing music and implementing sound effects into their TV shows.
Tyler has also traveled the world as a pianist, Music Director and Conductor aboard world class Cruise Ships and has conducted Mamma Mia, GREASE the Musical, CHICAGO, Hairspray and others.
Tyler studied harmony and composition at the Conservatoire Hector Berlioz in Paris, France.
Being mostly self taught, Tyler is a proficient classical and jazz pianist as well as composer for TV, film and video games.
