- Sayaka Akimoto is Japanese female actor.
She started her career in the entertainment industry as a member of the Japanese pop music group, "AKB48", in 2006.
While active as a singer and dancer, she also appeared in many television series and movies as an actor.
She has performed her own action scenes and stunts for certain roles (such as for the movies Ultraman Saga and Bikuu).
After leaving AKB48 in 2014, she began pursuing her acting career in earnest.

Sayaka was featured in a number of the group's singles and was the first captain of Team K, one of the three major teams of the idol group. Sayaka was also part of the four member sub-unit DiVA, a vocal and dance unit, whose single Tsuki no Uragawa was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association in Japan (100k physical copies sold). Sayaka was one of the forefront members of the 2nd ever generation of AKB48, alongside famous members such as Yuko Oshima and Sae Miyazawa, and graduated the group in a concert at Tokyo Dome, which is one of Japan's biggest dome venues with a capacity of 55,000.
Sayaka has been an incredibly successful actor in Japan following her graduation, by expanding her roles in movies, tv shows and stage dramas. In 2020, she was announced to be the newest edition in the American Sniper movie series, making her Hollywood debut Sniper: Assassin's End as the eccentric Japanese yakuza assassin Yuki Mifune, alias Lady Death. She reprised the role of Lady Death in the 2022 movie Sniper: Rogue Mission.
In 2022, Sayaka was casted to play the role of the Japanese historic female warrior Tomoe Gozen in the 61st NHK Taiga Drama 'The 13 Lords of the Shogun'. She also voices the Japanese dub Marvel character Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. She reprised this role in Thor: Love and Thunder and will be returning in Guardians of the Galaxy 4.
