Welcome to this week’s Nwa: Power review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and I’m back to reviewing the National Wrestling Alliance every week. It is nice to be back at the original wrestling league/body and its World Title, which is the only championship that actually means anything. I’m going to be honest with you here. I don’t give a s—t about the other wrestling leagues. I care about the wrestlers and the matches, but promotions don’t matter to me. The only exception is The Nwa, since it is the original and the source of the vast majority of wrestling history. There isn’t a moment in WWE history that isn’t eclipsed in some manner by the most fleeting instance in the glory years of The Nwa. I wish Billy Corgan would start showing The Nwa the proper respect. He...

Welcome to this review of the National Wrestling Alliance’s Nwa: Back For the Attack Pay Per View, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this show brings the Nwa back to PPV and to the public in general. I rode my camel McGod to this venue so we can talk about this show. McGod: I am McGod! Bow peasants! Me: Alright. Hold on… McGod: Forthwith my foot up your peasant asses! Bestow unto me that sweet, sweet pussae! Me: Wait. Wait. McGod: Move aside! I take large steps! Me: Hold on… (McGod knocks down Nathan) Me: Ow! Damn it! Ow! McGod: I shall begin this review! So begineth this discussion! Me: That’s my li… McGod: Bow peasants!

Let’s go back to Chicago in 1978. Phillip Jack Brooks was born into a family, the brother of four siblings. He grew up in a household with issues, predominantly with his father’s alcohol struggles. It was in these early years that Brooks leaned on punk rock and became straight edge. This would be a tattoo on the fabric of his life from then on. As well as his love for punk rock and comic books, Brooks grew up watching pro-wrestling, and became a huge fan. There are some pictures out there with him meeting guys like Steve Austin when he was in his teens. The wrestling business entered his bloodstream, and by the time he was in his late-teens, he was wrestling in backyards in Chicago.
The guys who Brooks wrestled with back then weren’t necessarily serious about becoming fully fledged professional wrestlers, but he was. He wanted to take it further,...

Welcome to this week’s Nwa: Powerrr review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this is a terrible show. You’ll see why in a second.
Match #1: Zicky Dice defeated Ricky Starks and Matt Cross – Triple Threat Match
My Opinion: 2.8 out of 5 – This went about three minutes and was starting to get good, but it got cut off at about three minutes. I’m not s——- you. This only went three minutes. Why even bother watching? What is this, 1985? Who would ever pay for a ticket to a show with a three minute match? The wrestling that did make it in to this flea-sized slit of a match was good, but you’d barely be able see any of it. This was good, but depressing.
Match #2: Trevor Murdoch defeated The Question Mark
My Opinion: 0 out of 5 - Tqm, who was a popular new star for this league,...

Welcome to the first National Wrestling Alliance: Powerrr review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and I didn’t choose to name the damn show “Powerrr”. I think the extra “r” or two is there because of coke-lines or something. This show is a one-hour broadcast that is modeled on the old Jim Crockett TV format, so expect nostalgia lined with Punky Brewster hair-gel and Alf condoms, “because he can’t spend all day eating pussy…cat”. This isn’t always a show designed to offer great wrestling, but it does have some great production values and a very lively atmosphere. Let’s get to this time-warped trip through Billy Corgan’s bank account before he smashes my pumpkin.
Match #1: Aron Stevens defeated Sal Rinauro – Submission Challenge Match
My Opinion: 2.3 out of 5 – This went all of two minutes and was…A Squaaaaaaaaaaaash! No! No! Damn it!

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”
Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.
Differences in methodology from Morris
I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

Which former WWE wrestler plays one of Bane's henchman in The Dark Knight Rises? Why does Anne Hathaway think her Catwoman is so different from every other one before her? Tna wrestler D’Angelo Dinero (who also worked for the WWE under his birth name Elijah Burke) has a role in Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film The Dark Knight Rises that has now finished filming and will be released July 20th, 2012. Dinero is currently working a Harlem Street Preacher gimmick in Tna under ‘The Pope’ moniker.
Dinero reportedly plays a henchman or goon to the main villain Bane (Tom Hardy) but it’s not yet known whether he has any dialogue in the film.
A picture has leaked of Dinero’s appearance in the new Batman blockbuster but looking at the image below it doesn’t hint to him having a part that is any more significant than that of a glorified extra;
Maybe he will be the henchman who ends up with a pencil in the head in this one?...
