Disney+ has shared the official trailer for ‘Cristóbal Balenciaga,’ the original drama series that recreates the life and legacy of the Guetaria-born Spanish creator, one of the most iconic fashion designers of all time.
In the series, created by Lourdes Iglesias and 12-time Goya award winners Aitor Arregi, Jon Garaño, and Jose Mari Goenaga (“The Endless Trench”), actor Alberto San Juan plays Cristóbal Balenciaga, an enigmatic and extraordinarily talented man who defied the social conventions of the time and revolutionized the world of fashion.
The original series begins as the designer presents his first Parisian haute couture collection in 1937. He has left behind a successful career in his ateliers in Madrid and San Sebastian dressing the Spanish elite and aristocracy. However, the designs that had set the trend in Spain don’t quite work in the sophisticated fashion empire that Paris has become, where Chanel, Dior and Givenchy are the benchmark of haute couture.

This post contains spoilers for "John Wick: Chapter 4" and the later "Harry Potter" films.
In "John Wick: Chapter 4," John Wick (Keanu Reeves) must reunite with his estranged family in order to finally rid himself of the High Table and remove the sizable bounty on his head. When he visits his family, however, he has a rude reunion with Katia Jovanovich, Wick's long-lost adoptive sibling who is played by none other than actor Natalia Tena. Ciarán Hinds has admitted that he had reservations about appearing in Game of Thrones due to the amount of sex scenes.
The Irish actor starred in HBO’s fantasy epic as Mance Rayder, a former member of the Knight’s Watch later known as the “King Beyond the Wall”.
In a new interview with The Independent, Hinds opened up about his time on the show, in which he appeared across three seasons from 2013 to 2015.
Hinds said that, despite the series being a huge hit, he was in two minds about taking on the role due to its excessive explicit content.
“I was rather put off by the amount of sexuality that was going on in it because it was taking away from the actual political storytelling,” he told The Independent.
“But that’s business, I guess, from their perspective.”

Although the bar set by Game of Thrones was incredibly low to begin with, House of the Dragon somehow barely manages to do better than its predecessor week to week in regards to how its female characters are treated on screen. Between the gruesome death of Aemma Arryn (Sian Brooke) in the series premiere, the willingness of the Velaryons to marry their twelve year old daughter Laena (Nova Fouellis-Mosé) off to the King for political power, and Daemon Targaryen’s (Matt Smith) creepy and predatory behavior toward his niece Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock), House of the Dragon still finds ways to undercut showrunner Miguel Sapochnik’s claims that the series is a more feminist take on Westeros.
Where House of the Dragon does better than Game of Thrones, however, is in creating a safer environment for its actors so that they feel secure and empowered behind the scenes. In a fairly...

“House of the Dragon,” the highly anticipated spinoff to HBO’s wildly popular “Game of Thrones,” already has people wondering if the series will match the original in terms of scope and quality. On one ground, however, “House of the Dragon” has it covered: According to star Matt Smith, the show matches the original’s penchant for nudity and explicit scenes, which he questioned as being gratuitous.
“You do find yourself asking, ‘Do we need another sex scene?’” Smith said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. “And they’re like, ‘Yeah, we do.’ I guess you have to ask yourself: ‘What are you doing? Are you representing the books, or are you diluting the books to represent the time [we’re living in]?’ And I actually think it’s your job to represent the books truthfully and honestly, as they were written.”

Fans of Gentleman Jack were left in shock earlier this month when HBO opted to cancel the drama after two seasons.
The series, which was a co-production between HBO and the BBC, came to a grinding halt after HBO pulled the plug.
Series creator, Sally Wainwright is hopeful the show could return in some capacity down the line.
In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Wainwright said that "there is a desire to go on with it amongst quite a lot of people."
The main hurdle standing in the way of a pickup is that an international partner would have to be found to carry the series globally.
Wainwright promises that “all those other options are being explored.”
“If HBO had been up for it, there’d have been no question” about a third season.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that "Gentleman Jack" isn't a comedy. In case the comedic genius of Gemma Whelan's every facial expression wasn't proof enough, and you somehow missed the hilarity of Suranne Jones holding up a person-sized thermometer, then "What's All That Got to Do With Jesus Though?" is all the evidence you need: this show is a comedy gold-mine. Sure, most of the plot revolves around the heartwrenching reality of two women loving one another in 19th-century England, but when they aren't worrying about the opinions of the public or vehemently fighting to retain...

Sally Wainwright’s “Gentleman Jack” is almost back for Season 2 on HBO.
The Suranne Jones-starring show about real-life historical figure Anne Lister — who lived in Yorkshire in the 1800s, and who was known not only for defying societal stereotypes about women and business, style of dress, and all manner of things, and who kept a coded diary of her romances with women — returns next month, HBO confirmed Thursday. The network also dropped a brand new teaser.
In the video clip, someone calls Anne “gentleman Jack” to her back, a nickname she got for her style of dress, prompting a shocked face from Jones.
It also hints at the drama ahead across its eight episode second season as Anne and her wife, the wealthy Ann Walker (they said vows together at home), as they try to carry out their relationship in private, but with society trying to invade their business.

Game of Thrones and "sex scenes" pretty much go hand and hand, but, to our surprise, all of those steamy scenes actually came with little-to-no direction, according to Gemma Whelan. In an interview with The Guardian, Whelan revealed that the show did not have an intimacy coordinator—which is used to not only help achieve the director's vision, but to also maintain the actors' safety. Without one, the cast was left to look out for each other on set, and apparently led to a bit of a "frenzied mess." "They used to just say, 'When we shout action, go for it!'," the Yara Greyjoy actress told the publication. "But between the actors there was always an instinct to...

Gemma Whelan made a name for herself around the world by playing Yara Greyjoy on 16 episodes of HBO’s blockbuster fantasy series “Game of Thrones.” In a new interview with The Guardian, Whelan reflected on what it was like shooting the series and how sometimes filming sex scenes became a “frenzied mess.” Whelan started her “Thrones” run in the show’s second season, long before HBO committed to having intimacy coordinators on set for all sex scenes (that order didn’t come until October 2018).
“Almost literally. They used to just say, ‘When we shout action, go for it!’ and it could be a sort of frenzied mess,” Whelan said about the early days of filming “Thrones” sex and nude scenes. “But between the actors there was always an instinct to check in with each other. This Inside No. 9 review contains spoilers.
There’s old school comedy of the ‘Frank Spencer roller-skating under a lorry’ kind, and then there’s old school comedy of the ‘clowns, dukes, ruffs and rhyming couplets’ variety. The Inside No. 9 series six opener draws on the latter, improbably combining 16th century commedia dell’arte with a modern-day jewel heist. It’s proof, if any were needed, that there really is no formula to this show. Peculiarity is its only genre.
Commedia dell’arte sounds complicated because it’s Italian, but so does bruschetta, and that’s just tomato on toast. The term describes a form of historical theatre using a group of stock characters wearing masks and doing gags around a familiar plot.
‘Wuthering Heist’ explains its conceit early on with a self-aware to-camera monologue by Columbina, a servant played by the always-great Gemma Whelan. She tells us the reason...

White House Farm is a dramatisation of the Jeremy Bamber story, a horrible case that saw the killing of five members of the same family including two children. The show came to ITV in 2020 in week by week episodes and has now arrived on Netflix in a full boxset. It’s a compelling look at what happened in 1985 at a remote farmhouse and the man who was convicted of the murders, as well as the dogged cop who wouldn’t settle for the obvious answer despite the negative impact it had on his career.

While it originally saw a festival run in three years ago, Alice Lowe's critically acclaimed Prevenge (review) is now getting a home video release.
Not satisfied to simply write and direct the feature, Lowe also stars as Ruth, a pregnant woman, dealing with the loss of her husband. Heavily pregnant and suffering through depression brought on by the loss, Ruth begins to listen to her unborn baby who is coaching and coaxing her to kill, starting with the other climbers who were with her husband when he died.
Brilliantly acted by Lowe, and co-starring Gemma Whelan, Kate Dickie, and Jo Hartley, Prevenge finds a great balance between horror and comedy to deliver a wildly entertaining film.

Whew. (The filmmakers already have another film in the works - Timestalker.) Described as a "pitch black, wryly British comedy", the film follows Ruth, played by Lowe, a woman seven months pregnant who listens to what her baby tells her and takes out anyone who stands in her way. Also stars Kate Dickie, Gemma Whelan, Jo Hartley, Kayvan Novak and Eileen Davies. Before the film was released, Lowe gave birth to a baby girl, Della, who was able to portray Ruth’s newborn in the film,...
