'Fireworks' Wilson(1860-1942)
- Special Effects
The name 'Fireworks' Wilson is known to film buffs as D.W. Griffith's
special effects supervisor on The Birth of a Nation. Almost no
information survives about him, except for that which Karl Brown
included in his book 'Adventures with D.W. Griffith.' Brown remembered
him a as a short man with a colorful personality, a mefisto goatee and
mustache, and a missing arm. He supervised special effects and
explosions on several silent films, but Birth of a Nation is his only
known credit.
