The erratic Leprechaun franchise is not known for sticking with a single concept for too long. The namesake (originally played by Warwick Davis) has gone to L.A., Las Vegas, space, and the ‘hood (not once but twice). And after an eleven-year holiday since the Davis era ended, the character received a drastic makeover in a now-unmentionable reboot. The critical failure of said film would have implied it was time to pack away the green top hat and shillelagh, and say goodbye to the nefarious imp. Instead, the Leprechaun series tried its luck again.
The general consensus for the Leprechaun films was never positive, and the darker yet blander Leprechaun: Origins certainly did not sway opinions. Just because the 2014 installment took itself seriously did not mean viewers would. After all, creator Mark Jones conceived a gruesome horror-comedy back in the early nineties, and that format is what was expected of any future ventures.

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
We’ve reached the last of the studio Amityville films with writer/director Franck Khalfoun’s Amityville: The Awakening (2017). It’s taken this editorial series a while to reach this milestone because we’re going through the Amityville films chronologically, though anyone familiar with the troubled production history of the film could feasibly argue this should have been covered back among the 2014 films (when the film was originally filmed) or 2016 (when reshoots were done and the film was originally scheduled for release).
In addition to those 2016 reshoots – the results of poor audience scores – the film was derailed due to its ties to the Weinstein/#MeToo movement. It was eventually dumped onto Google Play for free in late 2017.

Following the current trend with long running franchises that choose to ignore the previous sequels, Leprechaun Returns follows on from the original 25 years later. A decision which works brilliantly for the film giving it the freedom to not only follow on from the original story but also allowing it to reboot the series.
Leprechaun Returns is brilliantly balanced as it acknowledges the original film, Leprechaun (1993), throughout, whilst also trying to evolve the story. This enables it to appeal to both fans of the original series, whilst also making it accessible to a new audience. Mark Holton is the only returning actor from the original film as he reprises his role of Ozzie (Linden Porco having taken over the pivotal role of the leprechaun from Warwick Davis) and is used initially as a nostalgic connection between the two films. It seemed as though he would be destined for a brief cameo,...

Anything – and I mean *anything* – Steven Kostanski’s Leprechaun Returns trotted out as a Celtic franchise continuation was going to outshine 2014’s Leprechaun Origins. You could have forced Warwick Davis’ successor Linden Porco to recite ninety minutes of Lucky Charms product placement and it’d have been an improvement. Thankfully, there’s more to this revival than “hearts, stars, and horseshoes” limericks. How *much* more will depend on your B-grade mileage, given kills and rhyming zingers are at a premium instead of collective packaging. It’s the practical showcase you’d expect from effects guru Kostanski (The Void/Astron-6 productions), hoping to distract from a goopy cauldron of body parts and shallow cinematic depth.

The SyFy Network has released the first trailer for Leprechaun Returns. This is the first film in the series, since 2014's Leprechaun: Origins. There have been a total of eight films in the franchise, with the first one starring Jennifer Anniston and Warwick Davis, way back in 1993. This latest title follows the first film, with a Leprechaun searching for his pot-o-gold. Meanwhile, a sorority house is being built over his golden stash. This latest film stars: Taylor Spreitler, Sai Bennett, Pepi Sonuga, Ben McGregor, and Emily Reid. Steven Kostanski (The Void) has directed this feature, with more film details below. A creature feature, Leprechaun Returns was developed by a number of production companies. SyFy has been involved, along with Blue Ice Pictures and Out of Africa Entertainment. This team endeavour is slated for a mid-December run on Digital platforms. This latest film follows a similar plot, compared to the original.

"I've got a lot of killin' to make up for...!" Syfy has released an official trailer for the upcoming horror sequel Leprechaun Returns, being release straight-to-vod in December. Remarkably, the Leprechaun series is currently on its eighth film. The most recent two were Leprechaun: Origins in 2014 (did anyone see this?) and Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, of course, back in 2003. This new one even includes an old character from the original 1993 film, Mark Holton. And unfortunately Warwick Davis is not back this time, instead Linden Porco plays the super creepy Leprechaun. He returns once again, when a group of girls unwillingly awaken him, while they tear down a cabin so that they can build a new sorority house. The full cast includes Taylor Spreitler, Sai Bennett, Pepi Sonuga, Ben McGregor, and Emily Reid. This seriously looks crazy messed up and seriously twisted, not to mention packed with a bunch of bad one-liners.

Leprechaun Returns is the eighth movie in the Leprechaun horror movie franchise. We’ve got a new trailer for the movie for you to watch that sees the return of the villainous and twisted Leprechaun as he terrorizes a group of sorority girls.
This is one of those silly horror franchises that I’ve enjoyed watching and it all started in 1993 with Jennifer Aniston, who was just starting her acting career. It also starred Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun.
I know this new film won’t have the same effect on fans as the original did, but it still looks like ridiculous fun. Here’s the synopsis:
The film picks up 25 years after the events of the 1993 original, which found a maniacal Leprechaun doing whatever it takes (including committing gruesome murder) to track down his stolen pot of gold. Leprechaun Returns finds the leprechaun revived in the modern day when...

“Kevin Can Wait” has been canceled by CBS after two season, Variety has learned.
The CBS sitcom stars Kevin James, Leah Remini, Taylor Spreitler, Mary-Charles Jones, James Digiacomo, Ryan Cartwright, Lenny Venito, Gary Valentine, and Leonard Earl Howze. James, Rock Reuben, Rob Long, Jeff Sussman, Andy Fickman, Tony Sheehan, and Steve Mosko are executive producers for Sony Pictures TV and CBS Television Studios.
“Kevin Can Wait” underwent a creative overhaul between seasons one and two, with original co-star Erinn Hayes’ character written off the show and Remini joining the cast, reuniting James with his former “King of Queens” co-star.
But the show still saw a big ratings slide in its second season. The cancelation after investing in two seasons is a tough cut for Sony Pictures Television, which will shop the series to other buyers.

CBS has opted not to pick up a third season of its Kevin James comedy series Kevin Can Wait.
This is one of the biggest casualties at CBS this season. The network had set out to shake things up on Monday, where its ratings fortunes had fallen. It has now canceled Kevin Can Wait, Superior Donuts and Scorpion and only has renewed Man with a Plan.
Fueled by the popularity of its star Kevin James and boosted by The Bing Bang Theory as a lead, Kevin Can Wait got off to a blazing start in fall 2016 and went on to become a sturdy Monday 8 Pm anchor. The series ranked as the most watched and highest rated new comedy last season. But there was some ratings decline over the course of the season.
Additionally, midway through Season 1, the series parted ways with co-creator and showrunner Bruce Helford, who now steers ABC’s Roseanne revival.

The Syfy channel has announced their new film Leprechaun Returns and they also released a teaser trailer for the film for fans of the horror franchise to enjoy.
I enjoyed the first film when it came out. It was just a silly horror film that pitted Jennifer Aniston in her feature film debut, against a twisted killer Leprechaun played by Warwick Davis. This new film is set 25 years after the events of the original 1993 movie.
The story follows the maniacal Leprechaun accidentally revived in a modern day world at the hands of unwitting sorority girls.
The film was scripted by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead) and directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void). It stars Taylor Spreitler (Kevin Can Wait) as Lila, Pepi Sonuga (Ash vs Evil Dead) as Katie, Sai Bennett (Lake Placid: Legacy) as Rose, and Linden Porco (Cult of Chucky) as the murdering Leprechaun.

Yes, there’s a new “Leprechaun” movie, and yes, you’ll probably watch it if you’re ever channel surfing and see that it’s on. Syfy is reviving the tongue-in-cheek horror franchise with “Leprechaun Returns,” the eighth movie in the series and the first since’s 2014’s “Leprechaun: Origins.” That reboot was preceded by such revered entries as “Leprechaun 4: In Space” and “Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood,” which is to say that “Returns” has a lot to live up to. Watch the teaser trailer below.
“I’ve been gone quite a while, what a terrible bore,” the Leprechaun says as it begins. “My fingers are itching, I’m killing for more; why, let’s try our luck and bet on me gold. “If it lands on tails, I’ll do as me told; but heads? I’ll start a new killing spree.”
“What a lovely surprise,” he says as it lands on heads.

Leprechaun: Origins was a terrible, terrible film. We probably don’t need to remind you of that, though. Zach Lipovsky’s carbon-copy creature feature was a slap in the face to horror fans everywhere, dead on arrival mostly thanks to an atrocious screenplay that never once ventured outside the safety of repetition. There wasn’t a single new idea to be found at the end of what was an unintelligible cash-in short on reveals, lacking in death scenes, and heavy on infuriating redundancy.
And while many had all but written off the franchise after its release, and understandably so, there might just be reason to get excited about Leprechaun again, and that’s because Syfy has announced Leprechaun Returns today. Now, before you go ahead and let out a groan, know that this will be a sequel to the 1993 original, picking up 25 years after the events of that film.

After channeling body-morphing cosmic horrors in The Void, co-director Steven Kostanski is stepping into established franchise territory for his next project: a new Leprechaun sequel from Syfy.
Announced by Syfy in a new teaser video featuring Linden Porco as the Leprechaun (a role played by Warwick Davis in the first six films in the horror franchise, with Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl playing the role in the most recent entry, Leprechaun: Origins), the new Leprechaun sequel is titled Leprechaun Returns and will premiere on Syfy in March of 2019.
According to Syfy, the new movie will bring back the murderous Leprechaun 25 years after the events of the first film in the franchise, with sorority sisters—played by Taylor Spreitler (Kevin Can Wait), Pepi Sonuga (Ash vs Evil Dead), and Sai Bennett (Lake Placid: Legacy)—inadvertently resurrecting the titular terror after demolishing a cabin to make way for a new sorority headquarters.

Kevin James is breaking his silence on why Kevin Can Wait shockingly killed off its female lead.
Over the summer, it was revealed that James’ TV wife, Donna (played by Erinn Hayes), would be dead when the CBS sitcom kicked off its sophomore season. Leah Remini, who starred as James’ onscreen wife for nearly a decade on King of Queens, replaced Hayes on a full-time basis.
News of Hayes’ abrupt departure was surprising to viewers. While Kevin Can Wait showrunner Rob Long said the decision to kill Donna off was done “out of respect for the character,” James had a slightly different take. (Remini, for her part, defended her place on the show, writing on premiere night that she’s “been having the time of my life being reunited with my favorite funny man.”)
"The plot of the show didn't have enough drive," James said in a new interview with the New York Daily News. "If we got through...

In terms of its demo average, the first season of Kevin James' Kevin Can Wait TV show was a top three performer for CBS. The comedy also ranked in 10th place in terms of total audience size, during the 2016-17 television season. That doesn't tell the whole story, though. The numbers dwindled after it lost The Big Bang Theory as its lead-in. In the second season they're shaking things up, by killing off Erinn Hayes' character, Donna Gable, and bringing on James' King of Queens co-star, Leah Remini, to reprise her season one turn as Vanessa Cellucci. Can reuniting this comic duo further build upon this successful series' ratings? Will Kevin Can Wait be cancelled or renewed for season three on CBS? Stay tuned. A multi-camera sitcom, Kevin Can Wait stars Kevin James, Taylor Spreitler, Ryan Cartwright, Mary-Charles Joes, James Digiacomo, Gary Valentine,...

2017-09-26T07:26:44-07:00How Did 'Kevin Can Wait' Deal with Its Huge Cast Change?
At the beginning of its second season, Kevin Can Wait had to get rid of one of its main characters and significantly alter the role of another one. How would the series' writers explain the absence of Erinn Hayes' character, to whom Kevin James' character had been married for years and years? Pretty offhandedly, it turns out. Read on to find out how it went down.
Via Us Weekly.
And that's that. It seems that Erinn Hayes won't make even the slightest appearance in Kevin Can Wait's season 2. In the premiere, which aired on Monday, September 25, it was revealed in the first scene that her character, Donna Gable, had died.
The CBS comedy briefly mentioned her absence when Kevin Gable (Kevin James) received a postcard for her gym saying they missed her.

Erinn Hayes’ last episode of “Kevin Can Wait” was not only shared with her Season 2 replacement, Leah Remini, but it was titled “Sting of Queens” — as if the creators’ long con to swap out Kevin James’ wives was already underway.
The series got such a bad rap after announcing it was letting Hayes go, viewers might have expected them to deal with her character’s departure with grace and respect. After all, even fans who weren’t overwhelmed by the news would need a good reason to forget about a woman they spent 24 episodes getting to know during Season 1.

Kevin Can Wait has made its highly-anticipated return following Erinn Hayes’ surprising exit.
The CBS sitcom parted ways with their female lead, who played Kevin’s wife, Donna, at the end of season one, citing creative and personal reasons and announcing their decision to kill the character off.
On Monday’s season two premiere, Donna’s sudden absence was felt immediately, as Kevin (Kevin James) struggled to pack lunch for his youngest kids, while elder daughter Kendra (Taylor Spreitler) tried to help her dad out. But things turned somber when the mail delivered a reminder of the family's late matriarch, in the form of a "We miss you" postcard from Donna's gym.
"Give me that, I will call them right now," Kendra insisted. "It's been over a year since she died, they shouldn't still be sending this."
The premiere culminates with Kendra's wedding, and before the ceremony, she and Kevin share an emotional moment, remembering...

Kevin James is a simple entertainer. His blue collar-friendly brand is designed to appeal to undemanding middle-aged schlubs, or at the very least, easy-to-please hard-working people who just want to kick their feet back, gulp down a couple beers and enjoy themselves for a few hours. The kind of people who don’t expect more than the familiar pleasures they’ve been given before. And there’s nothing particularly wrong with that either. James’ style might be boring and repetitive to some of us (well, maybe most of us), but he’s a smart businessman. He knows what his fans expect from him, and he tries to meet their modest demands. That logic drives Kevin Can Wait, James’ return to CBS and broadcast television.
