Summer is heating up thanks to Grammy-nominated country band Midland and Bud Light’s Easy to Summer jam. On Tuesday, August 15, Midland plays Oklahoma City as part of the Bud Light Backyard Tour.
The band promises nonstop fun for those who can attend. “Bud Light has invited us to be part of such a unique and intimate experience for the fans,” Mark Wystrach told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“But yeah, I think these kind of these outside of the box events are something that definitely we really look forward to,” he added. “And, you know, the idea is always to give the fans the best experience possible. We feel like we have the greatest fans in the world. So for them to have an opportunity to see us, someplace like in a backyard setting in the summertime, cold beer. Exclusive: Teton, a drama from The Wilds showrunner Amy B. Harris, Jason Reilly, Grammy-nominated country musician Cameron Duddy from the band Midland and Temple Hill Entertainment, is in fast-track development at Amazon Studios, Deadline has learned.
Co-created and written by Harris and Reilly, based on an original idea by Duddy, Teton is an upstairs-downstairs drama set amongst the stunning peaks of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It follows Kick Taylor – a ski racing phenom – who returns to her hometown to contend with the emotional meltdown she had on tour, the ramifications of her mother’s death, and the family and friends she left behind in her pursuit of gold. As Kick struggles to find her footing, she and her tight knit mountain community – made up of a group of eccentric but lovable locals and powder hounds – fight to hold on to what makes this the most special place on earth all while...

Apple TV+’s new music competition series My Kind of Country couldn’t have chosen better Country music stars as season one scouts and mentors than Mickey Guyton, Jimmie Allen, and Orville Peck. All three understand the need for more inclusion within the world of Country music and are willing to share their experiences with talented artists from around the globe who are hoping to break through in the genre.
Four-time Grammy nominee and Time’s 2022 Breakthrough Artist of the Year Mickey Guyton believes Country music is a universal language and genre, and that it’s important to reach out and discover amazing artists who might not otherwise have an opportunity to find a wider audience. My Kind of Country makes that possible for 12 artists, with Guyton, Allen, and Peck each mentoring four aspiring solo artists or groups.

Thanks to the popularity of Yellowstone, everyone seems to have Montana fever these days. The Under the Big Sky Festival in Whitefish, in the northwest corner of Montana, combines sweeping views of the state that give the TV drama its grandeur with some of the most rough-hewn and cutting-edge artists in country and Americana music — all performing on a real working ranch.
At this year’s festival, held last July, bands like Turnpike Troubadours, Trampled by Turtles, and Midland entertained the approximately 30,000 fans who descended upon the Big Mountain Ranch just outside of Whitefish,...

Midland follow up last summer’s teaser EP The Last Resort with their third official full-length album. Titled The Last Resort: Greetings From, the record arrives May 6.
Ahead of its release, the country trio of Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy, and Jess Carson, offer a preview of the LP’s tone with the Jimmy Buffett-evoking title track “The Last Resort.” It’s a get-out-of-town song, with the southernmost point of Florida as the destination. If you watched John Mayer’s new music video for “Last Train Home” and kept expecting Axl Rose to snake-dance his way into the frame, it’s for good reason. The video is an homage to Guns N’ Roses’ summer of ’88 MTV staple, “Sweet Child o’ Mine.” Right down to a canine cameo.

John Mayer strikes a comforting chord with his new song “Last Train Home.” The track will appear on his eighth studio album, Sob Rock, which arrives on July 16th.
The song, like the album’s nostalgic cover art, has an Eighties vibe, as does its accompanying video. The Cameron Duddy and Harper Smith-directed clip finds Mayer and his band recording their live performance of the son. The grainy footage complements the reflective tone of the track. It features a cameo from Maren Morris.

When Miranda Lambert walked offstage at Denver’s Pepsi Center on March 2nd, 2020, it marked the last time she would perform in front of paying fans for more than a year. Along with seven hours of big cat intrigue, alleged murder, accidental shootings, and unsolved arson, Netflix’s docuseries Tiger King has gifted us with some outrageously cheesy country songs, all sung (or at least performed) by zookeeping country wannabe Joe Exotic. “Here Kitty Kitty” is a swampy murder ballad and “My First Love” is a heartfelt same-sex love song. When Midland announced that they would be playing a one-off show at the Palomino in October 2019, the North Hollywood venue hadn’t been operational for nearly 25 years. Though the original structure is still standing, the former country-music hot spot on Lankershim Boulevard now serves as a rentable banquet space for birthday parties and quinceañeras.
“They essentially moved a honky-tonk into that building, which is as un-honky-tonk as you get,” says Midland guitarist-vocalist Jess Carson, joined by singer Mark Wystrach and bassist-vocalist Cameron Duddy a few months later at their label’s Nashville offices.

“Anyone have a Triple A card?” asks Midland’s Mark Wystrach, climbing into the middle row of a Pepto-Bismol-colored vintage Cadillac limo that’s currently parked outside of a hip East Nashville bed and breakfast called, appropriately, Urban Cowboy. Though it looks impossibly cool, the interior of this thing is more aging New York taxicab than luxury vehicle — the circulation is minimal, the seats shellac themselves to thighs like athletic tape, and it may or may not emit borderline lethal amounts of exhaust. Country trio Midland sparked a lot of unnecessarily heated debates back when they first arrived back in 2017. Their throwback aesthetic and sound — a playful, scuffed-up nod to the oft-derided Urban Cowboy era in country and its characteristic softness — drew suspicion from anyone who shaped their idea of masculinity around Waylon or Willie. Then there was the fact that singer Mark Wystrach’s résumé included acting and underwear modeling, while bassist Cameron Duddy had pop superstar connections as the video director for Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Uptown Funk.

The 2019 Cmt Music Awards delivered the usual freewheeling mix of surprising musical collaborations, timely jokes and rowdy behavior. Chicago – Dillon Schneider is the quintessential local man made good. A graduate of Chicagoland’s Barrington High School and the city’s Columbia College, Schneider was the cinematographer for the music video “Burn Out” by Midland, which is nominated for Best Video at the 54th American Country Music (Acm) Awards, coming up on April 7th, 2019.

Since releasing their debut album On the Rocks in 2017, Midland have made their home on the road, supporting the LP on tours with Little Big Town and Thomas Rhett and with their own headlining sets. The latter gigs are typically raucous affairs, with the band playing the majority of On the Rocks and firing off a string of on-the-nose cover songs — like Jerry Reed’s Smokey and the Bandit trucker anthem “East Bound and Down,” which Midland performed Wednesday night on the 52nd annual Cma Awards.
