Now this sounds like an interesting short film! “Mr. Sushi,” from writer-director Joshua Sallach, is a post-apocalyptic film about a masterless samurai who turns to sushi for solace, driving his food truck through the desert to fill fish-hungry stomachs. Sallach and co-writer Kieran McGowan, who previously worked together on shorts “Larson’s Field” and “Under the Stairs,” is seeking submissions from the Albuquerque, New Mexico area for a supporting role: a 10- to 12-year-old mute Caucasian boy who has been “hardened by living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.” He is described as wise, yet innocent. The right actor must be able to be expressive without using his voice. “Mr. Sushi” is filming later this year in Albuquerque and pays $125 per day.
