San Fransisco’s most celebrated ghettotech label has just announced more details of the second annual edition of their flagship event. The Claude VonStroke-headed Dirtybird Records has released the phase 1 lineup for the 2016 installment of the Dirtybird Campout, which will make for a decidedly underground alternative to more mainstream festivals.
Reggie Watts is unexpectedly the biggest name on the flyer – although the name next to his is conveniently blocked off. Shiba San, Christian Martin, J. Phlip and Cats ‘N Dogs make for some of the more predictable inclusions – and one of the other blocked off names undoubtedly belongs to Christian’s brother, Justin Martin.
With over two months separating the Dirtybird Campout‘s phase 1 lineup announcement with the event itself – which takes place from October 7th-9th – fans will likely have to wait a while longer until the phase 2 lineup announcement arrives. Until then, look at the current names on...

In anticipation of Dirtybird BBQ 2016, an event that combines the music festival with the annual cookout, Claude VonStroke’s label has released a fourteen track compilation this week called Secret Sauce.
The new compilation features songs from many of Dirtybird’s top artists, including Doorly, Justin Jay, Shiba San and Christian Martin. Secret Sauce sports a diverse blend of house music, upholding the label’s signature underground vibes and high standards, and serves as a fitting hype builder for the upcoming festival series.
Dirtybird BBQ kicked off its debut event in 2014 and quickly became a fan favorite in the dance community. For the 2016 edition of the festival, it’ll be returning to the usual locations, including San Francisco, Seattle, Detroit and Brooklyn in August and September, followed by the Dirtybird Campout in California.
You can purchase the full Secret Sauce compilation via Beatport here, while tickets for Dirtybird BBQ are on sale now and are available here.

Claude VonStroke‘s Dirtybird Records label has become a quintessential part of the electronic music landscape in recent years, which has translated into opportunities for the brand to reach even wider audiences. The imprint has announced the return the Dirtybird BBQ Tour by revealing five 2016 dates throughout the country.
Dirtybird mainstays like Justin and Christian Martin, Ardalan, Shiba San, and Claude VonStroke himself can be expected to perform sets that will blend ghettotech with more traditional house and techno styles. Specific venues for each date of the tour have yet to be announced (and the last stop of the tour in Miami still has no confirmed date), but in true Dirtybird fashion they’ll likely take place at intimate, downplayed venues.
Tickets to go see Claude VonStroke and friends perform at the five dates of the Dirtybird BBQ Tour go on sale June 14th, at which time the exact locations...

A Cinema Of Songs And People: The Films Of Anand Patwardhan, London
There are the films India wants you to see – churned out prodigiously by Bollywood – and then there are the provocative documentaries of Patwardhan, which his government has routinely tried to suppress and censor.

Winter's Bone (15)
(Debra Granik, 2010, Us) Jennifer Lawrence, John Hawkes, Kevin Breznahan. 100 mins
What No Country For Old Men did for west Texas, this striking landscape thriller does for Missouri's Ozark mountains. This is no country for poor women: an insular rural community clouded by drugs and patriarchy where they do things their way. So when Ree learns her father's skipped bail, and the family home was his security, she must ask difficult questions in dangerous places – chiefly among her extended outlaw family. Tough suspense, documentary-like observation and character drama are perfectly balanced.
I'm Still Here (15)
(Casey Affleck, 2010, Us) Joaquin Phoenix, Sean Combs, Anthony Langdon. 107 mins
What was Joaquin thinking? This film won't clear that up, but it at least shows you what he was doing: taking drugs, falling out with friends and the movie biz, rapping badly and descending into mumbling incoherence – apparently.
The Other Guys (12A)
(Adam McKay, 2010, Us) Will Ferrell,...
