Nick Carter’s Dancing With the Stars partner, Sharna Burgess, has defended the Backstreet Boy after he was accused of rape by former Dream singer, Melissa Schuman.
In an essay posted on her blog earlier this month, Schuman alleged Carter sexually assaulted her during a visit to his house when she was 18 and he was 22. In a statement issued to Et, the 37-year-old boy bander said he was “shocked and saddened” by the accusations and that Schuman did not express that their actions were non-consensual.
In videos posted on Twitter on Saturday, Burgess praised Carter's character, noting that she was not victim shaming Schuman, but simply wished to share positivity about “one of the most respectful guys that I have ever danced with on the show.”
After describing Carter as “sweet and understanding,” Burgess -- whose partnership with the singer and actor saw them place second on season 21 of the ABC competition series -- pointed out how the...

Nick Carter is responding to claims made by Melissa Schuman that he sexually assaulted her over a decade ago.
"I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual," Carter said in a statement to Et. "We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally. Melissa says she and the Backstreet Boys singer started talking because their managers suggested they date -- presumably for good PR -- even though she says she already had a boyfriend. She claims Carter invited her and a friend to his Santa Monica apartment for what she calls a "casual hangout" -- and after some boozing he started making out with her.

Their greatest rivals, The Backstreet Boys, had fallen into what would be a lengthy hiatus of their own. In an exclusive clip of TBS’s Drop The Mic, singer Usher and Black-ish star Anthony Anderson go face to face in an explosive (and somewhat hilarious!) rap battle.
First up, Anderson.
“Usher has a had a little problem with most women, a problem I mean he breaks up a tradition. I know it’s hard to hear but I have a burning question, how’d you get caught cheating and call it a confession,” he raps.
Usher’s response?
“Anthony Anderson, the star of Black-ish, this supposed to be a celebrity battle, I got catfished.

They were our fire; our one desire. We believed them when they said that they wanted it that way—which way we didn't know, but it was definitely that way—and we were cool with it... It's been 20 years exactly since the Backstreet Boys told us to rock our bodies because they were back (even though we'd never noticed they were gone because we'd never heard of them before) in their U.S. debut album Backstreet's Back and a boy band revolution began. So many fans focus on the superficial memories of this generation's first boy band (sorry, New Kids on the Block, but you missed the cutoff): Who had the best hair, whether they could pull off the all-white suits, where you were when you first heard "As Long As You Love Me."
