John Papp was born John Papanicolaou to Greek parents in Melbourne,
Australia. His first taste in the arts began in 1981 in the 6th grade
when he won a part in the school pageant "Snow White" as Dopey. In the
same year he was 1 of 6 chosen from his heavily Greek populated primary
school to sing Greek folk songs in a recording studio. The songs were
sold and played on Melbourne Greek radio for years to come. The years
passed and John had not given any thought to a career in the arts until
he was 16 when a few cast members from a popular theatrical production
called "Wogs Out Of Work" visited his high school to promote their
show. After seeing the show and these actors live John the acting bug
and uttered, "what a great job to have, make people laugh and get paid
for it"! From then on the acting classes began and he never looked
back. In Melbourne he appeared on various TV shows, short films, did
community theater as well as some very successful Greek theater. In
1994 he moved to New York and studied at the Lee Strasberg Theater
Institute where he performed 2 plays for the public. In 1996 he moved
to L.A and studied with Eric Morris, and with Eric Kline at the Film
Actor's Workshop. In L.A he continued to do theater, T.V, voice overs,
production assisting on films as well doing a ton of short films aimed
for film festivals.
