Layla (newcomer Devon Keller) is a high-school senior shacking up with her dropout boyfriend Danny (Kiowa Tucker). An honor student, she gets a scholarship to Ut Austin and then finds out she's pregnant. Given her predicament, what can she do? Petting Zoo, from director Micah Magee (see my interview with her), thrusts the viewer into several months of Layla's life.
One notable facet to the main character is that she is working poor. Layla refuses to live with her financially stable but abusive father, so has to move in with her elderly grandmother (Adrienne Harrell, Zero Charisma) and share a bed. Magee perfectly conveys the utter vulnerability of her situation. We see Layla sleeping many times -- through loud parties in Danny's apartment, in a friend's car after seeing Girl in a Coma, on her grandmother's couch after hearing bad news. Such sequences illustrate the precariousness of her life, and...

Welcome to Madison County, where the locals love to glare at you and the air is thick with tension.
A group of college kids have just arrived, one among them planning to interview the author of a controversial book that details the disturbing history of local serial killer Damien who killed around 33 people.
“You kids best be getting out of here while you still can” a hostile local grumbles at one point. “He’ll be getting wind of you soon”.
What’s a backwoods horror film without a terrific ominous warning, wonderfully delivered here by actor Marshall Yates. It’s a great little moment that sets the stage for the brutal horror to come.
Writer/Director Eric England’s slick Madison County shares a lot of well-worn features with the whole kids-stranded-in-woods-meets-deranged-locals horror flick that we’ve come to recognize – but before you dismiss this...

Nick Principe is a hard man to ignore. He stands about 6'7" tall, is covered in badass tattoos and is best known for playing a chrome-skulled killer that some feel could be horror's next iconic slasher. And now, straight out of Arkansas, Principe brings us his newest malevolent murderer, a pig mask donning psycho named Damien Ewell in Eric England's first feature film, Madison County.
Madison County is about a group of college kids who travel to the small mountain town of the same name to interview the author of a tell-all book about brutal murders that occurred in the town. But, as you would expect, when they get to Madison County, things are way more fucked up than they ever could have imagined. Enter the giant in the pig mask.
"(Director) Eric (England) hit me up on Facebook," Principe said, when asked how he heard about the role of Damien.

ComingSoon.net published a poster for the indie horror film “Madison County.” Artist Tom “The Dude” Hodge created the poster. Here is a synopsis of the film: Madison County is about a group of college students that travel to a remote, mountain town called Madison County to interview the author of a tell-all book on the accounts of the grisly murders that happened in the town over two decades ago. Upon their arrival, the author is no where to be found and the townspeople state that they’ve “not seen him in years.” They also deny that Damien Ewell, the notorious murderer, ever existed and that the murders never happened. As the kids start to dig around to get their own answers, they come to find that the stories, and Damien, maybe more real than the townspeople are letting on. The film stars Ace Marrero, Colley Bailey, Adrienne Harrell, Matt Mercer,...

Here's some great poster art for the indie horror film Madison County. The film premiered at Screamfest, and the poster you see above was created by Tom "The Dude" Hodge who also created the movie poster for Hobo With a Shotgun. Ya gotta love pig-headed killers.
The film itself is about a group of college kids who travel to a small mountain town called Madison County to interview the author of a tell-all book about several grisly murders that happened there. But when the kids get to Madison County, the author is nowhere to be found and the locals act like they haven't seen him in years. They also say that the killer never existed and the murders never happened. However, when the kids start digging around to get their own answers, they find out that the stories may be more real than the townspeople are letting on.

Madison County From Eric England comes a new backwoods horror thriller, in the vein of such cult classics as Wrong Turn, The Hills Have Eyes and Just Before Dawn, of Madison County.
