Sean Diddy Combs was once used as partial inspiration for the 2009 film Notorious, which was based on Biggie Smalls’ rise in rap. The feature would see a few of Biggie Smalls’ loved ones and associates on the big screen. One of them was Lil’ Kim, who had a pretty negative opinion of her portrayal in the film.
Lil’ Kim has always hated ‘Notorious’ Lil Kim | Aaron J. Thornton/FilmMagic
Lil’ Kim has been very candid about her feelings towards the feature Notorious. When the film first came out back in 2009, the rapper was critical about the way her character was written.
“The film studio and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a ‘character’ to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with talent, self-respect and who was able to achieve her own career success through hard work,” she said in a statement according to CBS News.

Even though James “Ghost” St. Patrick tried to build a life where his kids wouldn’t have to break the law to get ahead, we’re inclined to think he’d be proud of the way Tariq steps up in the new trailer for Power Book II: Ghost‘s final season.
The video at the top of the post outlines Tariq’s situation when the Starz drama returns in June: He has Noma, Effy and the Tejadas gunning for him, with only his longtime pal/business partner Braden backing him up. And if that weren’t bad enough, he’s...

Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again — but this time, it’s the series.
Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the show’s fourth season to serve as its last. It will be broken into two parts, premiering June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.
The move was prefaced by Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch this week when he revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive.
Using the Power franchise as an example, he said: “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘Ok, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. And I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership,...

Naturi Naughton and Two Lewis have welcomed a new baby! The stars broke the news on Instagram on June 12, partnering with BET to share sweet photos of the baby's tiny hands and feet. The baby boy, named Tru Xavier Naughton Lewis, was born on May 27 and weighed six pounds and 12 ounces. "Welcome to the world, our beautiful prince: Tru Xavier Naughton Lewis!" they told BET. "We are so blessed ❤️."
Tru is Naughton and Lewis's first child together, but Naughton also has a 5-year-old named Zuri from a previous relationship. "We look forward to bonding in a new way. "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" fans are pretty die-hard, and love even the most unlovable episodes, but one that tends to come up again and again when debating the worst episode is "Frank's Brother," from season 7.
The episode is almost entirely told via flashbacks and voiceover from Frank (Danny DeVito) and his brother Gino (Jon Polito), and their view of the past is pretty prejudiced and based in stereotypes, but one character they encounter is a real standout. Serious dramatic actor Lance Reddick, who starred in everything ranging from "The Wire" to the "John Wick" films, appears as Reggie, the owner of a Black jazz club in the 1960s that hires both Frank and Gino. Lance Reddick is one of those actors who shows up and immediately improves whatever he's been cast in, and in the case of "Frank's Brother," he turns the whole thing from a slightly cringey pastiche...

James St. Patrick is gone but definitely not forgotten. His spirit lives on via his son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) as is evident in the trailer for Season 3 of the hit Starz series Power Book II: Ghost, above.
The show returns with new episodes on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day.
The trailer shows Tariq really coming into his own as part of the underworld and finding comfort in spaces his father did. Like the strip clubs and nightclubs that conjure up memories of being at Truth, wheeling and dealing, in the flagship series Power.
The young St. Patrick even has his own “Tommy” by his side, Brayden (Gianni Paolo), and they’re looking to make Wall Street-level money. Method Man’s Davis MacLean has stepped out of the courtroom and into a bigger role in Tariq’s life. With the guidance of a smart and diligent attorney, the sky is the limit.

The lawsuit alleging Taylor Swift stole lyrics in her 2014 single, “Shake It Off,” has been dropped just weeks before it was set to go to trial.
According to news reports, a judge dismissed the case Monday following a joint request by lawyers for both Swift and Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, the songwriters who filed the copyright infringement lawsuit. The reasons for the request remain unknown and the filing reportedly did not include mention of a settlement between the parties.

The Scene 2 Seen podcast is finishing off the week strong!
This week I’ve already published conversations with spectacular talents such as Michael Greyeyes, Naturi Naughton and Juliette Binoche. Today is no different as I chat with actress Mia Isaac and writer-actress-director Hannah Marks.
Isaac is a rising talent who starred in back-to-back films released in July. She made her feature film debut starring in Don’t Make Me Go for Amazon Studios. Directed by Hannah Marks, it follows a single father (John Cho) diagnosed with a potentially fatal brain tumor who takes his 16-year-old daughter, Wally (Isaac), on a road trip to meet her estranged mother.
Isaac then co-starred opposite Zoey Deutch and Dylan O’Brien in the Searchlight Pictures feature for Hulu, Not Okay. In the comedy satire written and directed by Quinn Shepard, Issacs plays Rowan, a young adult dedicated to societal change. Her next projects include a short film and a TV series.

It’s been more than two decades since Naturi Naughton began to establish herself as a triple threat in entertainment.
She launched her career as a singer with the music group 3Lw, before revealing her acting chops with roles on “Fame,” “Notorious” and the “Power” franchise. She’s also proved she could deliver in front of a live audience on the Broadway stage. Now, Naughton has added filmmaker to her resume with directorial debut “Behind the Smile,” which launched July 9 on BET Her.
“Being in the director’s chair is a dream come true,” Naughton told Variety over Zoom shortly after the film’s launch.
Produced as part of “BET Her Presents: The Couch,” a series supporting mental health awareness, the film follows the life of Morgan, a news anchor with vitiligo, and the discrimination she faces at work as her boss pressures her to cover up the skin disorder on air.

The ladies made a comeback but won't return for the 2022-23 television season. ABC has cancelled the Queens TV show so there won't be a second year. The first season of 13 episodes, which drew low ratings, finished airing in February.

With the broadcast upfronts inching closer by the day, ABC has made some decisions.
The network has officially canceled Queens and Promised Land after their freshman runs.
Both shows struggled to garner much traction, with Promised Land being banished to Hulu early into its run.
There was some hope that its performance on the Disney streaming service could lead to a potential pickup.
Unfortunately, it sounds like the show failed to register on the streamer.
“Promised Land is a beautifully executed and tremendously entertaining series of which everyone at our company is extremely proud,” an ABC previously told TV Line of the soapy drama's move.
“We know it has a passionate audience that is very invested in this show, and those viewers will be able to stream all subsequent episodes exclusively on Hulu every Tuesday for the rest of the season.”

ABC is not moving forward with Queens, cancelling the music drama after its freshman run.
The series, headlined by Brandy, Naturi Naughton, Eve and Nadine Velazquez, was one of the hottest pilots last season and carried a lot of expectations heading into the fall. It had an Ok premiere in October, earning 0.4 demo rating and 1.78 million viewers in Live+Same Day. But throughout the season, Queens, which aired Tuesdays the 10 p.m., was often bested by competing programing. Possibly factoring into the show’s ratings performance was the fact that, during its run, Queens had to overcome the departure of one of its stars, Eve, who took a break from the series upon announcing her pregnancy. In January, Queens creator Zahir McGhee spoke with Deadline about whether Eve would return.

Two ABC series, “Promised Land” and “Queens,” will not be returning for a second season, Disney announced on Friday.
“Promised Land,” a drama from Matt Lopez about a Latino family in California’s Sonoma Valley, debuted to great acclaim but mediocre ratings in January. After five episodes, it was pulled from ABC‘s schedule and the entire season moved to sister streamer Hulu.
At the time of the move, an ABC spokesperson said, “‘Promised Land’ is a beautifully executed and tremendously entertaining series of which everyone at our company is extremely proud. We know it has a passionate audience that is very invested in this show, and those viewers will be able to stream all subsequent episodes exclusively on Hulu every Tuesday for the rest of the season.”
The ensemble cast was led by John Ortiz and Christina Ochoa.

The ABC dramas “Queens” and “Promised Land” have both been canceled after one season at ABC.
“Queens” concluded its season on the broadcaster back in February. The series followed four women in their 40s who reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had in the ‘90s when they were legends in the hip-hop world.
Eve originally starred in the series as Brianna (aka Professor Sex), but she bowed out of the show midway through the season to go on maternity leave. It also starred Naturi Naughton as Jill aka Da Thrill, Nadine Velazquez as Valeria aka Butter Pecan, Taylor Sele as Eric Jones, Pepi Sonuga as Lil Muffin, and Brandy as Naomi aka Xplicit Lyrics.
Zahir McGhee wrote “Queens” and served as an executive producer. Tim Story executive produced and directed the pilot. Sabrina Wind also executive produced. Swizz Beatz served as executive music producer.
