The following contains light spoilers for the NCIS Season 21 finale, which aired back on May 6.
No, the water that Katrina Law lowered herself into during the filming of NCIS‘ Season 21 finale was not as “brrrr!” as that which Special Agent Jessica Knight encountered. But when the actress nonetheless found herself “soaking wet” and freezing cold, one cast member rode to her rescue.

[Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the NCIS Season 21 episode “Reef Madness.”]
Jessica Knight made a huge decision in the NCIS Season 21 finale, and it’s one that likely has fans wondering if cast member Katrina Law is leaving the CBS show for good.
In “Reef Madness,” NCIS head Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) approached Knight with a surprising offer. He wanted her as the head of the new NCIS React team at Camp Pendleton. But taking the job would likely mean moving to the West Coast and leaving behind the rest of the NCIS team, including her boyfriend Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).

When Vance initially approached Knight about the job, she told him she’d have to think about it.

NCIS is not afraid to lose characters, whether by them leaving or even dying. There is not a single main character left from the pilot, and only Sean Murray remains as Timothy McGee from the first season (his first appearance was on the seventh episode of Season 1). Now, another major character might be leaving.
Here is a look at what changes the NCIS season finale might bring to the show.
Could Katrina Law Leave NCIS?
Katrina Law might be leaving NCIS after this season’s finale. The Season 21 finale (“Reef Madness”) has some hints that Knight (Law) might leave the series by taking on a new job. The show has never shied away from characters leaving the show — often in shocking manners.
Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) was a main character in the first season as she clashed with Jetrho Leroy Gibbs before joining the team and becoming a key member of his squad.

The NCIS season finale ended on a big cliffhanger for Agent Jessica Knight (played by Katrina Law).
Much of the episode teased a terrible fate for Knight and Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole).
The duo was trapped in a ship that was destined to be sunk as an artificial reef. They had been locked inside by a murder suspect, and nobody knew their location.
Parker became seriously injured as the duo tried to find a way out, leading to Knight taking a swim through a dark passageway to find help.
Just before Knight drowned and Parker bled out, the rest of the team rescued them, ending that particular storyline. But that wasn’t the cliffhanger.
Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) had a job offer for Knight that would take her to Camp Pendleton – across the country from her current post.

Following a new 2024 NCIS episode, the show's cast may look different as Katrina Law's Agent Knight re-evaluates her future.
First joining NCIS at the end of Season 18, Law's Special Agent Jessica Knight came to the team after working in the Navy Yard's React unit. Her team was disbanded when her fellow agents were killed.
She served as the replacement on Agent Gibbs' team when Emily Wickersham's Ellie Bishop left the series, eventually forming a romantic relationship with Brian Dietzen's Dr. Jimmy Palmer as well.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the NCIS Season 21 finale “Reef Madness.”] “This is one of my favorite episodes of my entire career span on NCIS. It’s so beautifully done and hits so many emotional levels for many different characters,” says Katrina Law, speaking with us about the twenty-first season finale for NCIS: Case Closed, our weekly aftershow. It was particularly tough for her character, Special Agent Jessica Knight, who got an angry breakup speech from her boyfriend, Chief Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) after he heard she was considering taking a new job in California. Watch the video above for the two actors’ breakdown of the episode. “It was a wonderfully human reaction that happens, that’s not planned,” Dietzen says. “Jimmy lost one of his best friends and his mentor this year. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the NCIS Season 21 finale “Reef Madness.”] Over the years, NCIS has seen its fair share of team changes, whether due to a tragic death on the job or someone moving on, and the Season 21 finale at times sets up the possibility for both. She had applied a few years ago, at a vulnerable time after her team was killed, but so much has happened since then, and now the team is her family. She needs to give her answer by the end of the day. Unfortunately, due to the case—...

First off, the bad news — if you’re NCIS‘ Kasie Hines, that is. The “feng shui” makeover that the team’s forensic scientist excitedly gave her lab in the most recent episode of the CBS drama is not a keeper, as you (and a sun-blinded Parker) may have suspected.

There is such a thing as getting too much press, it turns out, and Jerry Seinfeld definitely hit that point as he dropped by this week’s Saturday Night Live.

Colin Jost introduced him simply as “a man who did too much press,” and a harried Seinfeld sat down looking exhausted and disheveled. He didn’t even know which show he was on: “Is this a podcast?...

Saturday Night Live tackled the thorny issue of college protests this week — and thankfully, Kenan Thompson was there to find some laughs in it.

The NCIS Season 21 finale is almost at hand. That’s unfortunate news for fans who don’t know about the shortened season.
We only get 10 new episodes of NCIS this spring, even though it feels like the season just began.
Two Hollywood strikes delayed production, forcing CBS to cut the episode order from one of its top shows.
NCIS Season 21 is doing very well in the ratings. That’s the good news. But it may have been eclipsed by another CBS drama.
Tracker is turning in impressive first-season numbers, possibly making the most-watched drama of the 2023-2024 television season.
CBS already ordered a second season from Tracker, with those new episodes airing during the 2024-2025 television season.
New details about the upcoming NCIS season finale
The NCIS Season 21 finale airs on Monday, May 6. That’s a detail the network released a while ago as many of its shows prepare for the long summer hiatus.

With the April 15 episode of “NCIS” on CBS, the overall franchise — including its multiple spinoffs — clocks its 1,000th episode. That’s a milestone for all of the associated series, but the mothership show accounts for nearly half of those, and is edging ever closer to its own once-unfathomable benchmark: “NCIS” O.G. is at 463 episodes and counting, with the 500-show mark hardly out of reach, especially now that the show has just been renewed for its 22nd season. There’s no end in sight, with the top-rated drama series having proven its ability to withstand cast changes, such as the loss of Mark Harmon, the show’s original team leader, in 2021. (Gary Cole tagged in as Harmon was departing during Season 19.)
And yet, if there were a complete and total turnover, fans’ loyalty might not still be the same. Although there’s no cast member left from the show’s...

Sean Murray now holds the distinction of being the longest-running NCIS cast member. However, despite being the stepson of the show’s creator, Donald Bellisario, he still does not feel very secure in his job.
That seems so unlikely as on Monday, CBS will be celebrating the 1,000 episode of the NCISVerse. Yet, he remains uncertain.
Why doesn’t the actor who portrays geeky Agent Tim McGee “feel safe” in his long-time role?

CBS has already renewed a few shows for the 2024-2025 season—Tracker (Season 2), Ghosts (Season 4), and Fire Country (Season 3)—and one that seems to be a lock, for its 22nd season, is NCIS. “You never know how things are going to go,” Sean Murray (who has played Timothy McGee on the long-running procedural since its first season) tells TV Insider. “But knowing the way that things are going now and seeing the response we’re getting here in this sort of abbreviated Season 21, I think things will go well and I would expect to see a Season 22, very much so.” That sentiment echoes what Brian Dietzen (who has been playing Dr. Jimmy Palmer since Season 1) told us ahead of the special tribute episode to the late David McCallum and his character, Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, he co-wrote. “I’m hoping [there will be another season]. And Dietzen helped pen that one.
