Over a year ago, news surfaced that Amazon would be producing a live-action series centered around Spider-Man Noir, a superhero situated in 1930s New York City. Departing from the traditional Spider-Man narrative, this show will spotlight an older, more seasoned character distinct from Peter Parker. Developed by Oren Uziel, the series will carve its own path within the Marvel universe, with Uziel serving as both writer and executive producer.
The project has attracted notable industry figures, including producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Uziel, recognized for his work on films like ’22 Jump Street’ and the 2021 ‘Mortal Kombat,’ brings his expertise to the endeavor. This series is part of Amazon’s lineup of character-driven Marvel projects, joining the ranks of ‘Silk: Spider Society.’
Today, it has been officially confirmed that Nicholas Cage will indeed portray Spider-Man Noir in the upcoming show, confirming months of speculation.

More than a year ago we learned that Amazon is set to produce a live-action series centered around Spider-Man Noir, a superhero set in 1930s New York City. Unlike the traditional Spider-Man story, this series will focus on an older, more weathered character, quite different from Peter Parker. Developed by Oren Uziel, the show will have its own path within the Marvel universe, with Uziel serving as both writer and executive producer.
The project so far involves notable names from the industry, including producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Uziel, known for his work on films such as ’22 Jump Street’ and the 2021 Mortal Kombat,’ brings his talents to the table. This series was just one more in line with Amazon’s Marvel character-driven projects, alongside ‘Silk: Spider Society.’

With Another Crab’s Treasure, developer Aggro Crab has created an effective Trojan seahorse of a game. The underwater world skillfully evokes the lighthearted charm of Banjo-Kazooie, filled as it is with colorful landscapes populated by googly eyed critters who speak in mumbled gibberish. But that cartoonish sheen belies a vicious ecosystem whose methodical violence and apocalyptic ethos recall the work of Miyazaki Hidetaka. The result is an absorbing, if uneven, action RPG that largely threads the needle between cozy and thrilling.
The game’s opening introduces us to Kril, an introverted hermit crab whose shell is being repossessed off his back. The (loan) shark nabbing his home claims that Kril owes taxes to a nearby fiefdom, and our mystified hero has some questions. “First of all, what’s a ‘duchy’? Also, ‘taxes’?” Kril then finds a makeshift weapon—a fork—and sets out to reclaim his property.

Barbara Rupik’s “Cherub” was awarded the Eurimages New Lab Awards for Innovation at CineMart, the co-production market arm of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, with Lilian Hess’ “Duchampiana” taking home the Eurimart New Lab Award for Outreach.
Rupik’s project follows the titular creatures, shape-shifting angelic beings with human heads and birdlike wings, as they descend to a forgotten village to claim the soul of a dying girl. The director’s statement says that “Cherub” will blend “elements that are grotesque, musical, dramatic and horror in the genre, woven out of folklore and rural traditions.” Rubik, the author of the puppet animation in Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s “Silent Twins,” and whose shorts have been awarded at Cannes and Dok Leipzig, also took home the Wouter Barendrecht Award worth €5,000.

A24's summer horror hit "Talk to Me" is absolutely devastating, but the movie is even sadder when you know the true story behind it. Danny and Michael Philippou crafted a supernatural narrative for their debut feature film, but they also brought in a bit of real life experience.
Mia (Sophie Wilde) is struggling to cope with the passing of her mother when she discovers a way to commune with the dead through holding an embalmed hand. Holding hands is a central motif in the film -- it's both the way characters lift each other out of hard times and get pulled further into darkness. But believe it or not, the hand itself was not even in the first iteration of the story. However, the hand quickly fell into place with the other concepts the co-writers had in mind for the movie.
Danny Phillippou explained in an interview with Indiewire:...

Isabel Coixet recounts that she vowed to never to do another literary adaptation after her 2017 English-language feature The Bookshop based on Penelope Fitzgerald’s critically acclaimed 1978 novel of the same name.
Then the Spanish director read compatriot writer Sara Mesa’s dark 2021 novel Un Amor at the tail-end of the pandemic.
The unsettling work follows troubled translator Nat who quits life in the city for a dilapidated, leaky house in a remote village in Spain’s depopulated rural interior.
It is not exactly clear what prompted the move but she appears to be suffering from some sort of vicarious post-traumatic stress disorder connected to the harrowing refugee accounts she translates for her job.
A figure of curiosity as a lone woman, Nat lives as an outsider and then embarks on an unexpected and inexplicable passionate affair with a local social outcast.
“Sara Mesa is one of the most powerful voices in young Spanish literature.

Bertrand Bonello is a director, like Bruno Dumont, whose ascent to date has been quite closely associated with the Cannes Film Festival, so it is a surprise to see his latest — a two-hander starring French movie queen Léa Seydoux — make its debut on the Lido. It is sure to be just as divisive here as it would on home turf, but, for those willing to accept its longueurs and absurdities, The Beast is a provocative piece of sci-fi that follows Twin Peaks: The Return down the rabbit hole of dream logic, spanning three time zones in a surreal but compelling examination of human relationships.
Bonello announces his intent with a strange opening sequence, in which Seydoux, working with just a green-screen background, is directed in a scene that will reappear at the end of the movie. She’s in a house, alone, and “the beast” of the title is in there with her.

A creatively orphaned movie about the power of family, Ángel Manuel Soto’s “Blue Beetle” is being released at a strange moment in time, both for superhero movies in general, and for the Dceu in particular (a damaged brand undergoing the kind of rebuild that you typically only find in salary-capped sports leagues).
On the one hand, the first Latino-led superhero outing from a major studio is a long-overdue lifeline to a woefully underrepresented community of loyal moviegoers, and “Blue Beetle” works hard to ensure that its culture isn’t just another dreadfully rendered CGI costume — the film has plenty of those, which makes it that much easier to tell the difference. On the other hand, this ultra-bland origin story is so feckless and familiar that it seldom feels like the first of anything so much as it does a half-hearted invitation to a party that’s already in the process of shutting down.

The new Prime Video psychological thriller Dead Ringers follows Manhattan-based gynecologists, who are on a mission to change the way women give birth and perform questionable procedures on infertile women – and happen to identical twins.
Series costar Poppy Liu spoke with uInterview founder Erik Meers in an exclusive interview about her role in Dead Ringers, where she discussed the show’s premise as well as what it was like to work with Academy Award-winning actress Rachel Weisz.
When asked about her character, Greta, and her relationship with her, Liu described having “a lot of love for her.”
“She’s just such a weird strange little freaky weirdo,” she said. “She’s like a loner, could-be-genius, could-be-serial-killer. Very deep unsolved mother issues. Probably needs therapy but does this instead. So, I mean, she’s fascinating to play, she’s the best kind of character to play, which is just strange, many-layered,...

When Marlon Wayans answers the phone to talk about his new HBO Max special God Loves Me, clanking noises fill the background. “I just have a crazy day,” he admits. “I feel like the gym is the one hour I get to myself to just think about all the fucking work I have to do.”
The conversation wraps after he’s back home to prepare for an event, the background clanking now from dishes in his kitchen. Despite juggling multiple tasks over the course of his conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Wayans remains clear-headed and unguarded while discussing his relationship to Chris Rock, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, the three Hollywood names involved in one of last year’s most sensitive subjects: the Oscars slap.
It’s the central topic of Wayans’ third hourlong special for the streamer, which arrives just days ahead of Rock’s anticipated live Netflix special,...
