In his directorial debut, Kevin Pollak signs on an impressive roster of actors, comedians, stand-ups, writers, and more, all to come together and answer one of the most dumbfounding questions known comedy lovers everywhere: do you truly have to be miserable in order to be funny?
Actors from Sam Rockwell, Bobby Cannavale, Matthew Perry, Nick Swardson, William H. Macy, Tom Hanks, Maria Bamford, Lisa Kudrow, and more were on film talking about comedy and how they came to it, as were writer/directors Jon Favreau, Kevin Smith, Judd Apatow, Larry David, Marc Maron, Lewis Black, and more. And of course, a large score of comedians were in attendance, such as Jimmy Fallon, Amy Schumer, Martin Short, Whoopi Goldberg, Christopher Guest, Greg Proops, Jimmy Pardo, Penn Jillete, Jim Gaffigan, David Koechner, Kevin Nealon, Rob Delaney, James L. Brooks, Andy Richter. And of course a whole lot more people that offer some...

IFC announced today that the second season of its original scripted comedy "Maron" will premiere on May 8th at 10pm Et/Pt. Marc Maron, a renowned podcaster and all around hilarious dude, returns to television to live out a standup comic's noblest dream: laying his life bare in a sitcom. Laced with a healthy dosage of Maron's signature self-loathing, "Maron" is essentially a heightened portrayal of his day-to-day life. Lucky for us, stand-up comedians are some of the most tormented, fascinating people on earth, and watching them battle through their days makes for good TV.Joining Maron in the second season of his life -- I mean his TV series -- are a host of excellent names and faces, including Bill Burr, Wyatt Cenac, David Cross, Joey “Coco” Diaz, Paul Feig, Chris Hardwick, Rachael Harris, Michael Ian Black, Moshe Kasher, Tom Kenny, Johnny Knoxville, Dave Koechner, Tig Notaro, Conan O’Brien,...

So many Jimmys, so many jokes to be made about pop culture. Following in the footsteps of Fallon and Kimmel, Deadline reports that TBS has ordered a pilot presentation of a weekly unscripted show starring Conan's long-time warm-up comedian Jimmy Pardo. In the show, Pardo allegedly “honors all the news, clips, personalities and oddities of the week" while wearing a tuxedo, sort of a formal wear version of The Soup. Do you think the Jimmy thing is just a coincidence, or what? Does the name trigger some part of the human brain that wants to poke fun at Joe Biden?...

TBS has ordered a pilot presentation for The Weekly Awards With Jimmy Pardo, an unscripted project starring comedian Pardo. It is produced by Conan O’Brien’s Conaco banner, which is behind TBS’ late-night shows Conan and The Pete Holmes Show. According to the producers, on the show Pardo “honors all the news, clips, personalities and oddities of the week, in a tux.” Filming of the presentation is tentatively slated for March 7 in Burbank on the same stage where Conan tapes. Pardo has a long history with O’Brien. He was the warm-up comedian for The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien and continued in the same capacity on O’Brien’s TBS talker. Additionally, he has a companion web series, The Pardo Report, featuring backstage interviews with Conan celebrity guests. Pardo, repped by Omnipop and attorney Lev Ginsburg, has hosted the Never Not Funny podcast since 2006. He and the...

Why is Thanksgiving such a perfect setting for marathons? (The non-physical kind, of course.) Is it because the entire holiday weekend is dedicated to extended bouts of gluttony and shopping till one drops?
No matter the reason, this Thanksgiving not only brings the return of the MST3K Turkey Day marathon, but it also ushers in this year’s Never Not Funny Pardcast-a-Thon. Launching the day after Thanksgiving at noon Pt, hosts Jimmy Pardo, Matt Belknap, and Pat Francis will live-stream 13 straight hours of auditory and visual comedy goodness in support of Smile Train. What do you get when two award show hosts decide to partake in spirited athletic competition? The answer is revealed in the latest episode of Nerdist's All-Star Celebrity Bowling, where upcoming Streamy Awards host Chris Hardwick (February 17th at 3 Pst!) and his Nerdists do battle against three-time Emmy host/late night funnyman Conan O'Brien and his Conanites. Conan is joined by his right hand man, Andy Richter, who would've made a great team had he been playing with three other versions of himself. As it stands, his job is to stand around eating turkey pastrami sandwiches while his three teammates slowly but surely get better at bowling. In the last frame, we see all of Richter's teammates hit crucial shots, with no sign of his own bowling skills. I think he ate too much deli meat. In the end, Team Coco emerged victorious, sending Hardwick to a rare defeat. The...

Jimmy Pardo, the host of the award-winning Never Not Funny podcast, has had some experience with online video in the past. Now, the standup comedian is taking hosting a new show where he will have the chance to flex his comedic muscles. Pardo is the leading man in Write Now, a new series on Nerdist that is one part game show, one part roast, and one part standup comedy. Each episode of Write Now will feature three comedy writers and one standup comedian. The format is simple: in the first half of the show, the comedian delivers his routine; then, the three writers present jokes to Pardo making fun of the comedian's performance. He reads them all aloud, roasting any writer who feeds him a flat joke. In the end, Pardo chooses one joke as the winner, and the writer who penned that line is awarded a whopping prize of 50 dollars.

Comedian Jimmy Pardo nabbed an interview with Jon Hamm backstage at "Conan" during Hamm's recent guest spot, and had a pitch for the "Mad Men" star's next movie: Batman, starring Hamm and Pardo. After all, Batman is fair game now that Christian Bale has planned to vacate role after "The Dark Knight Rises."
But Hamm was less receptive to the idea than one might hope, and explained why -- by turning the tables on Jimmy, and complimenting his "rapier wit" as reason to include him in this Batman reboot. Hamm even continues his anti-rape public advocacy by deflecting the opportunity to "Sarah Palin it up" by making an cheap "rapier" joke. Jon Hamm: Not only hates rape, but hates easy humor. What's not to like?
Hamm has guested on Pardo's great podcast "Never Not Funny" several times, and the rapport between the two is a joy to watch.

Ever since the Conan Thingamabob last year (got tired of re-typing it every time, now it’s Thingamabob and let’s move on) and the initial inception of his TBS show, the ‘net has been relatively quiet on the Team Coco front, though not for any particularly negative reason, but just because his new show has quickly taken its place alongside The Daily Show and Colbert as completely standardly reliable shows that occur so frequently and are always so consistent, there’s really nothing noteworthy to say about them. “Hey, that guy we like is still doing a show that we like.” Who’s got time for useless info like that when our blog has so much crucial world news to cover? I bring this up today because Conan O’Brien just appeared on the Jimmy Pardo “Never Not Funny” podcast for a special free 90-minute episode that is — even...

The Doug Benson podcast Doug Loves Movies — a super-listenable, absurdly casual 40-minute conversation with comedians that vaguely mentions movies at times — just taped a momentous episode: After 9 months of trying to lure John Lithgow onto the show in honor of his starring in the movie 2010, the notoriously likable star of Cliffhanger, Harry and the Hendersons, and some other lesser movies (Terms Of Endsomething?) finally appeared on the show. Below, for your not-doing-work pleasure, John Lithgow talking with Doug, Paul F. Tompkins, and Jimmy Pardo about being in every movie ever, his son calling him an assh*ole, and his opinion on Leonard Maltin’s two-star rating for Raising Cain: If you don’t have time to watch a 50-minute embed at your job (where do you work, a crooked 1910s textile plant?), you can subscribe to the podcast on iTunes here. Tragic "Growing Pains" star Andrew Koenig's life was celebrated by family and friends at an emotional memorial service on Saturday, March 6. Former "Star Trek" actor Walter Koenig and his wife Judy invited approximately 100 loved ones to the Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon, California, where they held a private ceremony for their son.
The 41-year-old actor was found dead in a Canadian park in an apparent suicide last month, February 10, after going missing. Walter's rep David Moss tells E! News, "It was a celebration of life. All of the family was there and a lot of his actor friends and filmmakers flew down and joined in. It was not all happiness, I must say. There was a lot of sadness, but there were some very nice high points."

Like a lot of people nowadays, I seem to hear all of my breaking news reports on Twitter, and that's how I found out that actor and activist Josh Andrew Koenig is missing. If the name doesn't ring a bell, he's the son of actor Walter Koenig ('Star Trek') and played Boner on the 80s sitcom 'Growing Pains.'
Koenig was last seen in Vancouver last week. He was supposed to fly back home on February 16 but did not board the flight and no one has heard from him since. Those familiar with the writing of Harlan Ellison know that the story "Jeffty is Five" was inspired by Koenig.
Koenig has been a political activist for quite some time and is also a camera operator on Never Not Funny. Several celebrities, including Vh-1's Doug Benson, Jimmy Pardo (Koenig's brother-in-law), Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano, and 'How I Met Your Mother...

Andrew Koenig, the son of Star Trek veteran Walter Koenig, hasn't been heard from since before February 16, when he was supposed to board a flight from Vancouver back to the United States, but never showed up. He was reported missing in Vancouver on February 18.
Koenig is a California resident, who was visiting friends in South Vancouver, reports the Vancouver Sun.
A number of celebrities, including Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano, Dave Holmes and others — along with many fans — have been blogging and tweeting about Andrew's disappearance. The Twitter hash tag is: #andrewkoenigmissing
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Raymond Payette of the Vancouver Police Department at 604-717-2534.
Koenig's family said he was despondent and they were concerned about his well-being. The 41 year-old is described as caucasian, 5’5” tall, 135 lbs., with long, brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.
The actor once lived in Vancouver, and police said he liked walking in Stanley Park.

Web 2.0 startups are now well versed in the the so-called 'freemium' model of doing business. Give a basic level of your service away for free and then charge users for premium services. Everything from project management tools (Basecamp), collaborative learning (Grockit), online radio (Pandora) and business networking (LinkedIn) all have made this the core models of their businesses. As we first noticed last year, the freemium model is now making its way into the online video business. Today comes news of two different sides of the web video platform spectrum—premium content site Hulu and live streaming site Ustream—hinting that they too are heading towards this model. The slower adoption of freemium in online video is in many ways linked to a decades old reliance on ad supported entertainment business, particularly in television. But recent moves are sending signals the industry may be on the heels of a turning...

Making money is a bit of a problem for those involved in new media, but the people over at Never Not Funny: The Jimmy Pardo Podcast, a weekly show hosted by stand-up comedian Jimmy Pardo and entrepreneur Matt Belknap, may have figured out how to turn those round eyeballs into crisp, green dollars. The podcast (which airs both video and audio) is touted by Pardo as a morning radio show with out all the extra junk and has been running for around three years and spans across five seasons. Last year, Belknap, Pardo, and crew made a decision to switch from the free-to-download-model shared by so many podcasts to one based on subscriptions.
