Here we are with a new horror film about a group of youths going to explore the wilderness, only to get killed one after another by a serial killer. There’s a “final girl” too, as you would expect. But what sets director Chris Nash’s In a Violent Nature apart from anything else is the choice of telling (most of) the story from the perspective of the killer. Not only does it revamp the slasher-horror genre, it also adds an artistic sensibility and makes the film a staggering achievement. Of course, this is a film that demands your attention from the get-go, and even if you watch it without blinking an eyelid, there’s every chance you’ll miss a little detail or end up getting confused. In this article, I’m going to take a swing at deconstructing In a Violent Nature.

Undeniably, Season 19 is a hot topic in the minds of Sister Wives viewers. While some people think it will cover the vow renewal of Kody and Robyn Brown, others believe it’s going in another direction.
Sister Wives Has A Tricky Situation
Undoubtedly, there are many questions about what Sister Wives Season 19 will look like, especially after the tragic loss of Garrison Brown. Recently, there were discussions about the new season needing to move in a new direction. While some fans can’t stomach the thought of seeing any footage with the belated Garrison, others want to get ahold of any filming with the sweet soul possible. As many people know, the filming finishes long before releasing it to the public, so most likely there is new documentation of life with Garrison. However, some fans believe it is time to clear the slate and start over.

John Kander may be close to 100 years old, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t involved with the upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
Kander and the late lyricist Fred Ebb – known collectively as Kander and Ebb – composed the music and wrote the songs for the original 1993 Tony-winning Broadway production of “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
The upcoming film, directed by Bill Condon, stars Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna and newcomer Tonatiuh.
“John Kander, who is 97 years old, was in the studio with me,” Lopez told me Monday at the premiere of her new Netflix sci-fi action movie, “Atlas.” “He is the most beautiful man. He was there for all of our recordings of the album and the pre-records for the movie. It was a dream.”
Lopez said Kander only had “very small notes” on her performance. “I was shocked,” she said.

One of the cringiest moments in Sister Wives history occurred during season 6 of the TLC series. Robyn Brown delivered a shambles of a purity speech during a home church session in front of the Brown family. But instead of teaching a religious lesson, was it intended to seduce Kody Brown?
Robyn Brown’s purity speech was delivered with a specific intent
After marrying Kody Brown, Robyn began to lay the groundwork for a different type of relationship than he had with his other wives. She wanted a deeper connection with Kody and, perhaps, used this speech to seduce him and inflate his ego further by sharing her heartbreak over not saving her purity for him.

What happens when a horror movie doesn't know it's a horror movie? You get "Passengers," the 2016 sci-fi film starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Jon Spaihts, the movie takes place aboard a spaceship transporting thousands of people to a distant planet in the aftermath of Earth's ecological collapse. When a malfunction causes one of the passengers, Jim (Pratt), to awaken from hypersleep 30 years into the vessel's 120-year journey, he's left with a dilemma: Should he live out the rest of his days on the ship alone, end his life prematurely, or wake up Aurora (Lawrence), the hot lady he's crushing on, and lie about what happened for as long as possible? I'm betting you've guessed what he does.
Jim's decision was meant to be a surprise. However, much like what happened with Matthew Vaughn's "Argylle," the film's "twist" was spoiled in reports long before its release.

Elle Fanning is best known for portraying Sleeping Beauty in the 2014 film Maleficent and its 2019 sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. So, I am unsurprised that she chose to channel her iconic character, Aurora, on the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala.
On Monday, May 6, Elle Fanning was among the many celebrities who attended the event, which raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual exhibits.

The dress code for the night was “The Garden of Time,” inspired by the art museum’s new exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” And I think the 26-year-old American actress captured the theme flawlessly, exuding romance and fantasy with her attire.

Robyn Brown appeared to enter the Brown family of TLC’s Sister Wives with the best intentions. However, those appeared to quickly take a downturn as she integrated herself deeper into Kody Brown’s life. Robyn always seems to act without malice, but some of her innocent machinations are often scandalous. Here are three of her most dishonest moments during the TLC series.

Back in 2016, 3 years after Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity and 2 years after Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, the filmmaker Morten Tyldum released his own take on modern science fiction. Famous mostly for his Oscar-nominated historical drama The Imitation Game (2014), he gained success with it from the public, but was destroyed by critics.
Nevertheless, the movie’s brand-new synopsis promises a capturing story, as the plot revolves around two passengers forced to live alone on a giant spacecraft due to a malfunction in the ship’s defense system. They were supposed to wake up from their induced hibernation 90 years later, like thousands of people carried to a space colony.
However, it’s not the very end of the sci-fi’s premise. It turns out that one of the two passengers, Aurora, was secretly awakened by another one, Jim, for companionship, and she, not being aware of it, starts to mutually fall for him.

While the 2023 Live-Action Remake of Disney’s 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid wasn’t a failure at the box office, it certainly caused quite an uproar. The first teaser trailer is currently the most disliked Hollywood trailer of all time on YouTube. Now the beloved classic is being reimagined by another studio, but this time following in the footsteps of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
Simply titled The Little Mermaid, the film comes from the independent film studio Msr Media. The film seems to blend elements from the original story but set in the modern day. The film stars Lydia Helen, Mike Markoff and Jeff Denton and is currently set for a 2024 release. The Little Mermaid will also be Rated R for language, violence and brief nudity.

The Little Mermaid is one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved fairytales. The story has been made popular by Disney’s 1989 animated feature, which altered a lot of the original story, and which also received a live-action remake in 2023, starring Halle Bailey. But, it seems that this was not the final live-action adaptation of the story, as Msr Media International is bringing us a live-action horror adaptation of Andersen’s story, which recently received its first trailer and poster.
We’re not sure that anyone wanted this, but the horrible slasher Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey opened the door for such endeavors, and based on the information we have, we’re in for a series of (probably bad) low-budget horror adaptations of beloved children’s tales that will satisfy only those with the strongest of stomachs and lowest of expectations.

Under Netflix’s new head of film, auteur-driven projects are said to be very much out of favour: Kathryn Bigelow’s Aurora included.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we covered a report which suggested that Dan Lin, the new head of Netflix’s film division, would be looking to scale back the company’s commitment to high-budget films. Expensive movies like The Gray Man, Red Notice or Rebel Moon would be a thing of the past and the film division would instead focus its resources on mid-budget projects.
So far though, the only projects about that aren’t getting a green light seem to be the ones being led by auteur filmmakers.

Diego Luna and Tonatiuh will star in the adaptation as Valentin Arregui and Luis Molina, respectively. They join Jennifer Lopez, who was previously announced in the titular role. Puig’s novel was, of course, previously adapted for the screen by Héctor Babenco. That 1985 version was nominated for four Oscars, with William Hurt winning Best Actor.
The show, which won seven Tony Awards, was written by Terrence McNally with a score by composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb. It's a testament to Disney's branding that mainstream audiences don't necessarily know who directed or starred in some of their better-known movies. Although many have seen the studio's 1950 animated feature "Cinderella," most audiences wouldn't be able to tell you that Ilene Woods played the title character, or that Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske, and Clyde Geronimi directed the film. Disney's "Aladdin" changed that with the casting of Robin Williams as the Genie. And the trend of hiring known screen celebrities, often not voice actors, to sell an animated feature to a broad audience went to a whole other level in the wake of DreamWorks' "Shrek." The advent of the internet also helped certain actresses become known among Disney fans. Nowadays, many adults know the names of the actresses who played characters like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Ariel the Mermaid.

Wolverine #43 Writers: Benjamin Percy & Victor Lavalle | Artist: Geoff Shaw | Colourist: Alex Sinclair | Letters: Cory Petit
This week I wanted to kick off talking about the cover. Modern covers tend to have a bad reputation. Perhaps there is an element of me being biased, but I love this cover by Lenil Yu! Visually it draws the eye with the dual bursts of gunfire. Secondly having Wolverine and Sabretooth side by side in their old Team X garb is going to have readers and potential readers curious. On the subject of Team X and my bias, this issue starts off strong. Wolverine? Check. Sabretooth? Check. Maverick? Check. Personally, though I would have liked more of the story dedicated to the flashback. Maybe an element where the events of the flashback inform the current goings-on. But who am I to call out Percy on how to tell a story? Really the Team X...

Taking place amid the crush of parties surrounding the 2024 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the Fifteen Percent Pledge Gala — with its black-tie Black designer dress code — drew one of the most gorgeously turned out crowds of the entire bash-filled weekend.
Held for the first time in L.A. and hosted by Robin Thede, the gala raised money for the nonprofit equity organization Fifteen Percent Pledge, founded by Brother Vellies designer Aurora James, which asks retailers to devote 15 percent of shelf space to products from Black-owned brands.
First Lady Jill Biden, wearing designer Sergio Hudson, made a surprise appearance at the event, held on the lot at Paramount Studios. Writer/director Klaudia Reynicke has drawn on her own life for her latest film Reinas, which focuses Elena (Jimena Lindo) and her daughters teenager Aurora (Luana Vega) and her younger sister Lucía (Abril Gjurinovic), as they prepare to relocate from early-90s Peru to the US. Their departure relies on the girls’ estranged dad Carlos (Gonazalo Molina) signing the paperwork that allows them to go, which sees him re-enter his daughters’ lives at the 11th hour. Reynicke explores the reconnection that begins to be established with his children, just as he also realises he is about to let them go for good.

I’d rather die than betray a Peruvian
A tender promise between two sisters holds the key to the heart of Klaudia Reynicke’s Sundance entry, Reinas. Betrayal underpins every dynamic on screen, from the personal drama of an ex-husband’s betrayal of his family following an uncomfortable divorce or the wider drama of Peru betraying its people following the government collapse in the early 1990s. Reynicke’s focus is not the economic turmoil but the small, human stories that are tragically caught in its midst.
Carlos (Gonzalo Molina) is a father and ex-husband struggling to make ends meet working as a taxi driver by day and a security guard by night. His wife, Elena (Jimena Lindo), is a prospering single mum thriving in her work and faces the opportunity of a lifetime to escape the difficulties of Peruvian life for the relatively high life of the USA. Off-roading in a sand dune located outside Lima with a borrowed car, Carlos (Gonzalo Molina) only cares about whether or not his two daughters, in the back seat, are having a good time. He won’t admit it, but this jack of all trades — and definitely master of none — doesn’t have much to offer them in the way of financial or home stability. Carlos’ only contribution are the memories he hopes will evoke a positive image of him in the future.
Therein lies the emotional crux of Swiss-Peruvian director Klaudia Reynicke’s poignantly subdued period drama “Reinas,” Spanish for “queens” and the way Carlos refers to his girls. Set in 1992, against the backdrop of social unrest and economic collapse in Peru — when the national currency has devalued greatly, and the insurgent organization Shining Path continues to carry out attacks — the narrative grapples with how two separated parents, neither of them ill-intentioned,...

Klaudia Reynicke’s compact feature Reinas deals in intimate moments with an understated charm.
The film, which premiered in the World Cinema Dramatic competition at Sundance, takes place in Lima during a tumultuous summer in 1992 and chronicles an unsteady reunion between a father and his two daughters. It’s a quiet study of paternal redemption, much like In the Summers, another one of this year’s festival offerings. Here, as in Alessandra Lacorazza’s debut, the complexities of a seemingly simple relationship reveal themselves over the course of slow summer days. Reynicke (Love Me Tender, Il Nido) shapes a moving character study of a family trying to ground itself against the backdrop of a shaky political landscape.

The opposing forces of reconnection and separation create a tension that runs through Klaudia Reynicke’s family drama. Elena (Jimena Lindo) is on the cusp of relocating herself and her two daughters, teenager Aurora (Luana Vega) and the younger Lucía (Abril Gjurinovic), from the turmoil of early-90s Peru to the US, although the older girl, in particular, is less than keen on the idea.
Before they can leave, the children’s estranged father Carlos (Gonazalo Molina) has to sign the relevant paperwork leading him to re-enter their orbit just as they are about to exit his for good. Reynicke, who, writing with Diego Vega, draws on her own emotional experience of leaving Peru as a 10-year-old. They treat this situation in a nuanced way, so that even if Carlos has become something of a stranger to his children he is not presented as a monster and Elena is gently encouraging in terms of.

While not quite autobiographical, Klaudia Reynicke’s third feature, “Reinas,” which world premieres at Sundance’s World Cinema Dramatic Competition, taps her own childhood memories of leaving her home in Peru for another country.
The Swiss-Peru-Spain co-production is set in the summer of 1992 when social and political unrest is roiling Lima, prompting Elena (played by Jimena Lindo), a mother of two young girls, to accept a job offer in the U.S. However, she needs the consent of her estranged husband (Gonzalo Molina) to take their daughters abroad. The girls, who barely know their father, are reluctant and wary at first but warm up to him, complicating matters further as conflicting emotions jeopardize their plans.
“It’s not exactly my story but the feelings are,” said Reynicke, who left for Switzerland with her mother at the age of 10 and had to adjust from living in a crowded family-packed house to...

Jennifer Lopez is ready to make art out of previous heartache. Her debut single off of her ninth album, titled “Can’t Get Enough,” is set to premiere this Wednesday, Jan. 10.
“I have my new single, from my new album and my new movie,” Lopez told Variety’s senior culture and events editor Marc Malkin on the Golden Globes carpet. “Wednesday is actually a really big day, 22 years in the making.”
There to support her Globe-nominated husband Ben Affleck, J.Lo paused to tease her first studio album since 2014 and the upcoming, wedding-filled music video that will accompany the debut single.
“I think it might surprise some people. It’s definitely kind of a meta story about the journey that it takes from getting from heartbreak back to love … I am somewhat of an expert you could say in a real way. Not so much about marriage but on weddings,...

Has there ever been a worse idea than David Wallace’s “Suck It” shop-vac for kids? Not according to the United States Military, who paid enough lettuce for the idea to put the disgraced Dunder Mifflin CFO back on the map. By the end of US version of The Office, Wallace was head of his old company once again and thriving. Makes you wonder what would have been had Michael Scott actually joined his former boss for “Suck It” in the season 6 episode “Sabre” and made his millions. For one thing, “Scott’s Tots” would have a much happier ending.
You can’t completely blame Michael for being so shortsighted, though. As David describes it while hanging out with Michael in the hot tub, “Suck It” sounds like a desperate unemployed man’s fever dream of a second coming.
“You know how kids leave their toys everywhere?” David explains in the episode.
