Fresh off winning the New Male Artist trophy at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Nate Smith teamed with Avril Lavigne to perform their new single, “Bulletproof,” on the show. The studio version of the song dropped early Thursday morning.
“Been taking these shots, shots, shots, 80, 90, everything they’ve got,” they sing together in the chorus, “But the whiskey don’t kill like it’s supposed to do/Baby, your memory must be bulletproof.” The pair ran across the stage for an electrifying live debut of the new single. It is possible to be “scared of nothin’ and … scared to death” at the same, at least so says Luke Combs, who holds his own bellowing about the virtues of the Sooner State over a torrent of wind and rain in the video for his new song, “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.” The song comes off the upcoming soundtrack to Twisters, the 28-years-late sequel to Twister (and grammarians will note that Combs’ double-negative suggests there is love in Oklahoma, even if it’s a North Carolinian turned Nashvillian singing his heart out.

Like many other country music singers, Shania Twain is not shy about voicing her opinions and letting her feelings be known. This is especially true when she wants her music and her music videos to make a statement she feels strongly about. After 25 years, Shania Twain is taking the time to reflect on some of her risky moves for one of her iconic music videos.
Shania Twain And Her Wardrobe Choices
Shania Twain made some bold choices when it came to her wardrobe choices she wore in her now-iconic “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” music video. She didn’t wear the typical clothing that was being worn by the women in country music in 1999. The “Any Man Of Mine” singer was pushing boundaries and turning heads.
The goal of the wardrobe used in “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” was not for Shania Twain to look like a man.

Washington, D.C. — Kevin Hart was feted Sunday with the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize in a traditionally raucous affair that drew praise and flak in equal measure from a handful of comedic colleagues on hand for the occasion. The ceremony will air later this year on Netflix as part of the streamer’s multiyear deal with the Kennedy Center event.
Previous Twain honoree Dave Chappelle was on hand to salute the multifaceted entertainer whose standup comedic talents are matched by his prowess as film actor, producer, restauranteur and beverage magnate. So was Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Tiffany Haddish, among other friends and fellow comedians.
That extensive resume was ample grist for colleagues who trooped onto the Center’s Concert Hall stage as Hart and his family sat in a nearby box. The show concluded with the presentation of the award, a miniature Twain bust, by Kennedy Center chairman David Rubenstein.

Kevin Hart wiped away tears on stage as he looked up from the bronze bust on a pedestal to the trio of comedy legends who had come to witness his professional highlight.
In the VIP balcony of the Kennedy Center opera house, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle sat side by side, watching Hart accept the Mark Twain Prize for lifetime achievement in comedy Sunday night.
“I didn’t start doing what I was doing to get awards,” Hart said. “I just fell in love with the idea of comedy.”
Hart rose from the open mics and comedy clubs of his native Philadelphia to become one of his country’s most recognizable performers — honing a signature style that combines his diminutive height, expressive face and motormouth delivery into an arena-packing stand-up act. Actor Lukas Gage and celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton were only married for six months when Appleton filed for divorce in November 2023.
On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Gage talked about his marriage to Appleton, which happened 19 days after they announced their engagement. Rather than traditional wedding attire, the ex-couple donned back fur coats at the altar in Las Vegas. When asked about the ceremony, Gage described his marriage as “manic.”
Gage also said he regretted having singer Shania Twain perform at the wedding, feeling like he “wasted” her time.
“I want to apologize to Shania Twain for wasting her time,” Gage said. “That was unhinged. That was like, the biggest waste of her time. I love you Shania, I’m really sorry about that.”
Gage also apologized to Kim Kardashian, who officiated the ceremony. The wedding was featured on an episode of The Kardashians.
“Look, Kim’s great.

Lukas Gage is making amends for a short-term marriage to Chris Appleton. He’d like to start by apologizing to Shania Twain.
During Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen peppered Gage with questions on several bad decisions. That includes wearing fur coats at the wedding.
“Did someone from the Kardashians TV show hand you fur coats and say, ‘You’re getting married in these right now?’” Cohen asked.
“Literally, I don’t know what went through my head. I don’t know what happened. The fur coats was a horrible idea,” Gage said.
Then he turned to the topic of Shania Twain.
“I want to apologize to Shania Twain for wasting her time,” Gage said.
Ahead of their vows in Las Vegas, Twain sang her 1998 hit, You’re Still the One.

Isaac Gale and Ryan Olson’s Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted isn’t the sort of “important” documentary that generally wins awards, but it’s a fine example of something even rarer: a documentary that draws its voice and aesthetic from the spirit of its subject, resulting in a tight 97 minutes that feel organic and satisfying and, as befits that subject, appealingly odd.
When it comes to Swamp Dogg, I’m not sure if there’s a middle ground between “Who?!?” and “Swamp Dogg is the Best!!!” though perhaps Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted will create an appreciative warmth in that space.
Swamp Dogg has acquired his position as a musical cult icon by virtue of an astonishing adjacency to fame that dates back to his first recorded song in 1954. In the subsequent 70 years, he’s been signed to, recorded for, and even been an executive at possibly dozens of labels.

Dame Helen Mirren said that she is “blown away” after seeing her likeness captured in a new Barbie doll, which Mattel is releasing this week ahead of International Women’s Day. The latest batch of role model toys also includes dolls for Kylie Minogue, Viola Davis and Shania Twain.
The release, also marking Barbie’s 65th anniversary, is part of the Barbie Dream Gap Project, which was launched in 2018 to challenge gender stereotypes and help “undo the biases that hold girls back from reaching their full potential,” according to Mattel. In addition to including these four famous women, this week’s new set of dolls includes creator Maira Gomez, of Brazil’s indigenous Tatuyo community; Mexican filmmaker Lila Avilés; German comic Enissa Amani; and Japanese model Nicole Fujita.

There’s no IP more innately suited for adaptation as a pure two-hander than the tale of Adam and Eve, a story in which, initially at least, there are no other characters, excepting the creator of the universe, who quickly gets relegated to a supporting role in the wake of more fleshed-out human leads. Legendary television scenarist Ed. Weinberger has finally done the obvious and turned it into a two-person play in the style of “Love Letters,” read aloud from scripts, like A.R. Gurney’s highly portable, bare-bones model. Weinberger’s take on the world’s favorite creation myth, “The Journals of Adam and Eve,” premiered over the weekend with a very limited run at L.A.’s 110-seat Garry Marshall Theatre, where a total of six audiences saw that it was… good.

Adrianne Lenker has announced her fourth studio album, Bright Future, out March 22nd via 4Ad. Along with the announcement, the Big Thief member has shared the single “Sadness As a Gift.”
Bright Future will be Lenker’s first album since 2020’s dual albums, Songs and Instrumentals, and was co-produced by longtime collaborator Philip Weinrobe. Embracing the unique blend of lo-fi acoustic and alternative that Lenker has become a master of, the album prominently features contributions from Nick Hakim, Mat Davidson, and Josefin Runsteen, all of whom were integral to the album’s sound, according to Lenker.
“I think the thing these people have in common [is that] they are some of the best listeners I know musically,” Lenker said in a statement, reflecting on the live-in-the-room recording process the musicians employed. “They have extreme presence… It felt like everyone’s nervous systems released. Once we were In the song, somehow we just knew.

HBO's "The Gilded Age" is back for season two, and we couldn't be more excited. Created by "Downton Abbey"'s Julian Fellowes, the historical drama depicts the lives of high society in late-1800s New York City. Season one was jam-packed with drama but if you're not a history buff, you might wonder if the show is based on a true story, or if it's totally fiction. While the main characters are made up, the setting and era that the story explores definitely are not.
Here's a breakdown of the true story behind "The Gilded Age."
What Was The Gilded Age?
The last few decades of the 1800s were coined "The Gilded Age." In general, the era was marked by the rapid growth of industry, an influx of European working-class immigrants, and growing wealth inequality. As a result, railroads and related industries exploded, labor accidents rose sharply, and trusts began forming,...

Drew Barrymore returned to daytime television Monday, Oct. 16, with no mention of the tumult that engulfed her show during the final stages of the Writers Guild of America strike.
The first episode of The Drew Barrymore Show was dedicated almost entirely to a 30-minute interview with country legend Shania Twain. The pair discussed classic Barrymore topics like trust, relationships, and therapy — in this case equine therapy — as well as Taylor Swift and going clubbing with their mothers as children. (“I had this passion for music and I thought, ‘Well I...

The Drew Barrymore Show launched its fourth season Monday, and not a word was spoken about the strikes and controversy that has surrounded the show in recent weeks. Barrymore introduced her guest Shania Twain, saying to the audience, “Alright everybody, welcome to season four. Let’s go girls,” without comment about her return following the recently ended writers strike and ongoing actors strike.
Barrymore went straight into her interview that was filmed with Twain at the Grammy-winning artist’s Vegas ranch.
As announced earlier this month, the show returned without its writers, WGA members Chelsea White, Cristina Kinon and Liz Koe, who decided to depart the show. Sources close to the show confirmed to Deadline that it extended three offers to the trio as soon as they were allowed to after the strike but they declined. It began interviewing writers and said that it would be in compliance with the guild.

Drew Barrymore’s talk show returned for its fourth season Oct. 16 without its previous writing staff — with its writers from last season having been offered, but declining, the opportunity to return. And it proved that it’s possible to run a show like this without any writers with experience on the show — just so long as you whittle away any connective tissue that makes an interview legible. And maybe include some long, wordless sequences of horseback riding for good measure.
Barrymore, who earlier this year seemed to be riding high as one of the standard-bearers of the sweetly sunny post-Ellen daytime landscape, tanked her public image last month with a subset of the audience by announcing that she’d be bringing her show back Sept. 18, before the WGA strike had concluded. Although she reversed her decision, her writers departed the show, leaving Barrymore in the unenviable position of having to...

Drew Barrymore’s return to daytime was a largely muted affair, with the host and actress sitting down with award-winning recording artist Shania Twain, but abstaining from any comment around her controversial return following the now-ended writers strike and amid the ongoing actors’ strike.
During the 30-minute premiere and first new episode of The Drew Barrymore Show since May, Barrymore — without her writers, who declined to return — launched straight into her sit down with Twain, telling viewers, “Alright everybody, welcome to season four. Let’s go girls.” The trip took Barrymore to Twain’s Vegas farm — halfway across the country from her New York City studio, where she had previously been met with pickets after announcing plans to bring back her WGA-covered daytime talk show just a few weeks before the Writers Guild and AMPTP reached an agreement.

The fourth episode of the fourth season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," called "Something Borrowed, Something Green," sees Lieutenant Boimler (Jack Quaid) and Lieutenant Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) sharing a dorm. In previous seasons, when the characters were merely ensigns, they slept in bunks in a hallway. They now have an enclosed private room for the first time, a wrinkle that soon has the two at each other's throats. Notably, they have come to blows over which of them gets to mist the room's adorable bonsai tree. Low-stakes animosity immediately forms. To make matters worse, Boimler's and Rutherford's respective holodeck hours have been double-booked, and they will have to share the day's recreation time together as well.
Curiously, both Boimler and Rutherford enter the holodeck dressed as Mark Twain, eager to spend a few quiet hours on an old-timey Mississippi riverboat. Affecting Twainian accents, the two begin by hurling insults, but...

Shania Twain thinks country music might be “more sensitive” now that it ever has been in her lifetime amid the controversy surrounding certain artists.
Divisive tracks such as Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town” and Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” have been hitting headlines lately.
In a recent interview with The Messenger, Twain was asked, “Right now, there’s so much debate about who country music speaks for, who’s represented in the genre. What do you think of that discussion?”
The Canadian hitmaker responded, “I don’t know whether it’s more sensitive than it’s ever been in my lifetime, but it’s certainly a very sensitive time for everyone.

Earlier this week on “Today”, the co-anchor announced her new book, Hope is a Rainbow, inspired by her four-year-old after she spent time in the intensive care unit back in March.
“I wrote this a while ago, before Hope was, you know, got sick and is on the mend and all that stuff,” Kotb, 58, gave a brief update on Wednesday’s episode while introducing the children’s book. “It was based on my daughter, who of course I had dreamt of her and hoped for her and her name just fell in.

Los Angeles, July 2 (Ians) Popular Canadian country-pop singer Shania Twain, also dubbed ‘Queen of Country-pop’, had a bad moment during her concert in Chicago, as she fell off stage, though made a quick recovery and came back stronger.
As per TMZ, the country music legend was belting out her tune, “Don’t Be Stupid,” at Credit Union 1 Amphitheater in Tinley Park when she wiped out while walking across the stage.
In a video, obtained by TMZ, Shania tumbled to the floor, but kept singing, jumping back up and polishing the song.
The singer was not injured and continued belting her tracks without break. Since the country legend recovered so fast, the audience in the crowd hardly reacted to her falling.
Twain is currently on her ‘Queen Of Me’ tour and is geared to hit Bethel, New York, on July 3 next.
