One familiar face was significant by her absence, however, and we now know why.
EW reports that Nazanin Boniadi, who played the human healer Bronwyn in season 1, will not reprise the role. The site claims that her reason for leaving the show is due to her decision to take a break from acting in 2022 to focus her attention on a real-world crisis that developed in her home country of Iran.

The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.
The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the Lotr prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.
By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.
Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised...

Whether you liked it or not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a hit series for Amazon, and it was expected that the series would be renewed for a second season. The series explored the era of Tolkien’s world before the main series, as well as the story of The Hobbit, expanding the universe we’ve already explored earlier. Now, some of the fans weren’t happy with the series in general, but the series has done fairly well and we are now waiting to see where it heads in the upcoming season. The second season will premiere later this year, and Amazon is slowly heating up for the upcoming premiere, which is what we are going to do with this report as well.

Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will sparkle much more when it returns. Morfydd Clark revealed Galadriel will be among the characters to receive a special piece of jewelry in Season 2.
“She’s about to have a life-changing thing happen to her. She’s about to become acquainted with Nenya, her ring. It’s really exciting to see how the magic creeps in,” Clark said at the show’s FYC event in Hollywood on Sunday speaking alongside her castmates who are all on break from shooting in the UK.
The three elven rings were forged in the Season 1 finale of the fantasy series, set a thousand years before the events in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord Of the Rings and The Hobbit, by Celebrimbor with the help of Sauron (as Halbrand).

Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel will co-write the next “Fast and Furious” movie with “Fast X” helmer Louis Leterrier returning to direct.
Last week, Variety exclusively revealed that Leterrier would direct the next installment of “Fast and Furious,” which serves as a companion film to “Fast X,” opening May 19. The 11th film in the Vin Diesel-starring franchise will mark Hodson and Uziel’s first official collaboration.
While news of the team up might come as a surprise to some, the two in-demand creatives are friends and share office space, which made the decision to work together practically inevitable.
Hodson is a British-born, Los Angeles-based, writer and producer, who is best known for writing Paramount’s 2018 “Transformers” prequel “Bumblebee” and writing and co-producing 2020’s “Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey” for Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Her next project is the highly anticipated “The Flash” movie, also for Warner Bros. and DC Comics.

The first season of “The Rings of Power” has officially come to a close with an “unexpected” finale as the “Lord of the Rings” prequel series explores the lives and events that took place thousands of years before J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy of books (and subsequent films). And along the way, audiences learned how Mordor was created, that the elves were in danger of dying, and there were plenty of signs that evil was, in fact, reemerging.
As showrunner Patrick McKay previously teased to Et, “Some mysteries may be answered, so answers may provoke new mysteries.” And that’s exactly what the final episode of the season does, making good on those “several big booms” he promised were coming later in the season.
Not only that, but Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Charlie Vickers (Halbrand) and Benjamin Walker (High King Gil-galad) react to the revelations offered in episode eight, including...

"How am I to know which lights to follow?" "Sometimes we cannot know until we have touched the darkness."
The premiere episode of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" likely sticks out in the minds of most for its cliffhanger ending with the arrival of the mysterious Stranger (Daniel Weyman), giving us a red herring to obsess over for an entire season while the true mystery remained right in front of our noses. The fate of Galadriel (Morfyyd Clark) ended up bearing even greater significance throughout all 8 episodes, as seen in last night's season finale titled "Alloyed," with the elf warrior having continually wavered between her vengeance-driven quest to hunt down the Dark Lord Sauron and her own darker impulses that threatened to overwhelm her again and again. In the end, her own innate sense of goodness and morality won out ... but not without tremendous cost and...

It’s a testament to the entertainment quality of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power that everyone is chomping at the bit to find out who Sauron is. As Prime Video has been teasing, “Evil reveals itself” in the The Rings of Power finale on October 14, but we just couldn’t wait to talk about the Dark Lord at New York Comic Con 2022. The Rings of Power cast joined in, reading tweets about Sauron when they popped by TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s Nycc suite. We compiled some of the funniest tweets about Sauron we could find to get the cast’s reactions. And these actors are doing their jobs well — all laughs here, no spoilers (no matter how hard we tried to get them)! Check out how Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Sara Zwangobani (Marigold “Goldie” Brandyfoot), Nazanin Boniadi (Bronwyn), Leon Wadham (Kemen), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Queen...

This article contains spoilers for The Rings of Power
After spending several weeks in the Second Age of Middle-earth, it’s time for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1 to come to an end. The Amazon Prime Video series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels and their appendices has once again introduced an evil force to Middle-earth that challenges the worlds of Men, Elves, Dwarves, and even Harfoots.
Based on the trailer for The Rings of Power episode 8 released at New York Comic Con, rumors of Sauron’s reappearance have not been greatly exaggerated. After weeks of theories about which character is actually Sauron in disguise, it seems as though his true identity (identities?) will finally be revealed in the season finale.
But the Sauron reveal isn’t the only hint in the finale trailer. A brief glimpse of a molten...

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power cast had a big weekend at New York Comic Con 2022 with the debut of the finale trailer and a glimpse into Episode 8. Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Queen Regent Míriel), Benjamin Walker (High King Gil-galad), and Daniel Weyman (The Stranger) also sat down with Andrea Towers in TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s New York Comic Con studio to talk about the Prime Video series. They also discussed what it’s been like watching the season play out with fans, family, and friends, plus fan theories about the show’s secret identities. “The main question people would ask me when I couldn’t say who I was playing were what my ears were like,” Addai-Robinson says of the filming process. Her response was always, “Well, I have ears,” and she notes, “Everyone thought I was an elf.” Weyman’s Stranger is the most mysterious figure in the show.

Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power blasted off its PR tour at San Diego Comic-Con and it’s winding it down at New York Comic-Con with the streamer dropping a season one finale trailer, that episode dropping on Friday, Oct. 14 at 12 am Edt. A majority of the trailer has footage from the first seven episodes.

A week before the “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” concludes its inaugural season, Amazon Prime Video debuted a fiery new trailer for the season finale that promises “all will be revealed.”
The trailer — which first screened at New York Comic-Con on Friday, as part of Prime Video’s panel for “The Rings of Power” — was light on new footage from the finale, save for a telling glimpse at what appears to be Celebrimbor’s forge, where the titular Rings of Power will eventually be created. Otherwise, the trailer recaps many of the biggest developments through the first season, while promising that while Mordor is rising, at lease some heroes “will fall” — and Sauron’s true identity will finally be revealed.
New York Comic-Con attendees got to see much more of the season finale. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, currently supervising production on Season 2 of “The Rings of Power” from London,...

It’s official: Amazon’s The Rings of Power has started filming its next season.
Production got underway on Monday at the new hub at Bray Studios just outside London.
The news follows the first official Nielsen ratings being released Thursday for the Prime Video series, showing The Rings of Power topped the streaming charts for its debut week with 1.3 billion minutes viewed (likely an Amazon series record given that only two hours were released).
The first season of the show was filmed in New Zealand over an epic stretch of 18 months during the pandemic. For season 2, which will consist of eight episodes, Amazon switched the show’s production to the U.K., which is considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub.
The Rings of Power is approaching its seventh and penultimate episode of its debut season this week.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” unveiled a shocking backstory about the coveted ore mithril which is set to shake up relations between elves and dwarves for generations. As elven high king Gil-Galad (Benjamin Walker) waded through this new mythology, I found myself filled with awe and skepticism at the same time. So let’s walk through why this Middle Earth nerd thinks Gil-Galad is a big fat liar!
It was clear that Gil-Galad had ulterior motives when he sent Elrond (Robert Aramayo) into the mines of Moria. And in this episode, Elrond learns that he was really sent there for the purpose of obtaining mithril. That’s the shiny ore the dwarves have just discovered deep within the mountain, which they will eventually use to craft lightweight but ultra-strong armor (like the mithril vest which saves Frodo’s life in “The Fellowship of the Ring”). Gil-Galad...

Amidst a record-breaking budget and sky-high expectations, "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" has managed to be a love letter to J. R. R. Tolkien's work that paves its own road to adapting the grandest parts of the canon. Moreover, in terms of its visual coherence, the series is a distant relative to Peter Jackson's original trilogy. It feels like it inherently belongs in that rich fantasy world dreamed up by the beloved author, while also adhering to what worked in live-action adaptations.
But what makes something Tolkien-esque? Is it epic battles and high-fantasy action? Or is it something more thematic in purpose, but equally all-encompassing in scale? There's one thing that manages to encapsulate all of these: the trees in "The Rings of Power," of course.
With a handful of episodes left in the first season, the series has firmly planted its roots in...

Amazon's highly anticipated journey into Middle-earth has finally arrived, expanding on a time period only briefly touched on in J.R.R. Tolkien's novels. "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is a daring, glossy, and thrilling original series that explores the Second Age of Middle-earth, approximately 5,000 years before the events of Peter Jackson's beloved "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Following characters both new and familiar, the series will explore how the Rings of Power came to be, and how the dark lord Sauron rose to power.
Drawing primarily on the material in the appendix of "The Lord of the Rings," "The Rings of Power" is one of the most exciting attempts to create original material in the Middle-earth canon. As a result, it has several fascinating new characters for viewers to dissect and enjoy, such as Halbrand and Disa, along with existing fan-favorites like Galadriel and Elrond.

Spoilers follow for the fifth episode of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
It's safe to assume that those behind "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" knew exactly what they were doing by coming out of the gate with a series of (relatively) slower-paced episodes. Not only did this give viewers time to really dig deep into the little details that makes Middle-earth feel so vibrant and alive, but it's also given us an excuse to ramp up the speculation surrounding the show's big bad. Everyone knew that a series titled "The Rings of Power" would have Sauron show up sooner or later. Though we briefly glimpsed his recognizable silhouette early in the premiere, the dark lord has remained stubbornly in the shadows ever since -- but the same can't be said for his evil influence.
As emphasized repeatedly in the first episode, the...

Spoilers for the latest episode of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" follow.
Fans who pay close attention to such things realized quite some time ago that "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" would have no choice but to carve out a unique space for itself in the legendarium of author J.R.R. Tolkien.
Unlike Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay and their team of writers didn't have the benefit of sprawling, self-contained novels to adapt from. Instead, Amazon Studios acquired the rights to the appendices featured at the end of "The Return of the King" novel (which laid out the events of the First and Second Age of Middle-earth), various novels like Tolkien's "The Unfinished Tales," and other notes. This forced them to get creative, using major canonical events as signposts -- the defeat of Morgoth,...

Last week’s instalment of The Rings of Power threw up some key questions: Would Halbrand break his oath by joining Galadriel’s voyage to the Southlands? Could young Theo resist the pull of Sauron’s blade? And what’s the significance of the dwarves mining Mithril? We’ve got answers to all of that and more this week, and there was still time to catch up with the Harfoots, too. They even sang us a song! August theatrical releases were a bit sparse, but “Partner Track,” “Lost Ollie” and seven other book-based projects found their way onto streamers last month, including HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon.” September has more theatrical releases, but fewer book adaptations to look forward to. Those that are coming out this month have rich history though, especially “The Rings of Power” series that Amazon has based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books and appendices.
There’s also “The Silent Twins” starring Letitia Wright and Jodhi May as well as Andrew Dominik’s feature film “Blonde” adapted from Joyce Carol Oates’ book about the career of Marilyn Monroe.

Amazon Prime Video's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is set many generations before Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and the Fellowship set out on their quest to destroy the One Ring and bring down the dark lord, Sauron. "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies take place within the Third Age of Middle-earth, but "The Rings of Power" goes back to the Second Age. We finally get to see how Sauron rose to power the first time and the creation of the rings themselves.
"The Rings of Power" features some familiar characters from "The Lord of the Rings." We get to see younger versions of Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), who were originally played by Hugo Weaving and Cate Blanchett, respectively. These characters are very different from who they become.

The stars of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy are showing their support for the Rings of Power cast after the Amazon series came under fire for casting Black actors as elves, dwarves and Hobbits. Ismael Cruz Córdova revealed that he’d been receiving “pure and vicious hate speech” over the past two years after being cast as the Silvan elf Arondir, and Amazon turned off ratings for the show after being review-bombed.

The excitement leading into The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was off the charts.
The highly-anticipated series, which is reportedly the most expensive TV show in history, got off the ground running with 25 million viewers in its first day.
Deadline reported the news, revealing that those numbers make it the best and biggest premiere in Prime Video's 15-year history.
“It is somehow fitting that Tolkien’s stories – among the most popular of all time, and what many consider to be the true origin of the fantasy genre – have led us to this proud moment,” said Amazon Studios boss Jennifer Salke today.
“I am so grateful to the Tolkien Estate – and to our showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, executive producer Lindsey Weber, cast and crew – for their tireless collaborative efforts and boundless creative energy."
"And it is the tens of millions of fans watching – clearly as passionate...
