Argo's Scoot McNairy is AMC-bound. The actor who played Joe Stafford, one of the Americans holed up in the Canadian embassy in Iran, in the Oscar-winning drama has booked the co-starring role in the network's drama pilot Halt & Catch Fire, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Set in the early '80s, the drama revolves around the personal-computing boom and is told through the eyes of three men -- a visionary, Joe MacMillan (Pushing Daisies' Lee Pace); an engineer, Gordon Clarke (McNairy); and prodigy Cameron

You may have noticed a few key names missing when the SAG nominatione for ensemble were announced this morning. No, I'm not talking about the casts of Moonrise Kingdom or Magic Mike or other fine ensembles. I'm talking about the performers from the five nominated pictures who won't get a SAG winner / nomination on their resume from this honor. That might seem like nothing but for working actors whose names aren't above the titles it can mean a lot. So today we honor these actors who deserved better from their guild!
I'll keep talking about this every year until SAG fixes their system. Behold the Five most "Outstanding Casts" according to the Screen Actors Guild and a sampling of people that aren't included in that honor.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations have been announced, continuing the awards season we’re currently in the midst of, and further recognising a handful of films that are already buzzing ahead of the Oscars.
Les Misérables, Lincoln, Argo, and Silver Linings Playbook all have prominent positions in the SAG announcement, along with an interesting appearance from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in the ensemble category, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
The awards celebrate not just the year’s best performances on the big screen, but also those on television, and some of the biggest and best TV shows have deservedly earned their places in the nominations below.
Modern Family, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, and The Office continue to dominate the comedy categories. And joining them in the drama nominations are naturally Breaking Bad, Homeland, Mad Men, Downton Abbey, Boardwalk Empire, and The Newsroom.

Chicago – Ben Affleck has reached the apex of his already impressive directorial career with the stunning “Argo,” a tight, tense machine of a film, a masterwork that delivers as comedy, action, drama, and more. Critics see movies all the time that we understand may produce a divided response. We get that many acclaimed films won’t make a dent with the populous. Every once in awhile, I see a film and just know that it will resonate with every demographic around the country. “Argo” is one of those films. To be blunt, I’d be stunned if you didn’t at least like it and I expect most of you will love it.
Rating: 5.0/5.0
Affleck brilliantly sets the stage with the assault on the U.S. Embassy in Iran using archival footage and disturbing recreations of the protesters storming the building (and it’s impossible not to think of recent...

Argo
Directed by Ben Affleck
Written by Chris Terrio
USA, 2012
Improbably, Ben Affleck has turned his career around in the last few years from the pit where such cinematic embarrassments as Gigli and Daredevil forever reside. He’s essentially transformed himself from a tabloid cover-star into a poised actor-director who subscribes to the “Hollywood doesn’t make movies like in the old days” mentality. Following his first two directorial efforts, Gone Baby Gone and The Town, Affleck is again behind the camera and starring as the lead in the taut new political thriller Argo, whose exceptional second half is almost good enough to make its slightly awkward, cluttered first hour forgivable.
Argo, based on a true story, begins in November of 1979 as the Iranian Revolution begins and militants take members of the U.S. embassy in Tehran hostage to force the American government to send Iran’s deposed Shah back home to face justice.

Here’s your first look at Warner Bros. Pictures. and Gk Films. dramatic thriller Argo, directed by and starring Academy Award winner Ben Affleck (.The Town,. .Good Will Hunting.). The film is being produced by Academy Award winner George Clooney (.Syriana.), Oscar nominee Grant Heslov (.Good Night, and Good Luck..) and Affleck.
Based on true events, Argo chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis.the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Last week, we took a look at the relative dearth of leading men in Hollywood: why Tom Cruise, Will Smith, et al. remain at the top of the tree and why so few serious competitors have emerged since. But one of the most exciting things about our job is getting to watch the new names that emerge, breakouts who have the potential to join the A-listers, or at the very least, deliver a host of hugely exciting performances for decades to come.
So we've decided to kick off our On The Rise selection for 2012 by looking at some of the actors who we're tipping for big things in the next few years. Last time we made these kinds of picks and predictions we did pretty well, listing the likes of Joel Edgerton, Edgar Ramirez, Jason Sudeikis, Adam Scott, Jake Johnson and David Oyelowo who have all gone on to become much-sought-after names,...

Argo, Ben Affleck’s third time directing a feature film, is by far one of the films I’m most looking forward to in 2012. By far. Both of his last films, Gone Baby Gone and The Town, were Oscar-nominated, and both were brilliant. The Town, especially, took the box office a little by storm last year when it went straight to #1 across theAtlantic, in what was one of the best films of 2010.
After directing his brother Casey Affleck in Gone Baby Gone and leading The Town himself, Affleck is once more stepping both behind and in front of the camera in Argo, assembling a fantastic supporting cast that includes Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Kyle Chandler, Alan Arkin, Scoot McNairy, Michael Parks, Taylor Schilling, Clea DuVall, and Tate Donovan.
Warner Bros. have now put out the brilliant first official image from the film, via ComingSoon.net, in which we can see...
