Directed by Rodman Flender – who also directed Leprechaun 2 and happens to be the uncle of Dune star Timothée Chalamet – from a screenplay by Terri Hughes and Ron Milbauer, Idle Hands has the following synopsis: When slacker teen Anton Tobias has his right hand possessed by a demonic force, he finds that his life gets a lot more interesting. While Anton himself is an amiable guy, his hand proves to be an appendage of death, killing his two best buddies, Pnub and Mick, who return to life as wisecracking zombies. In addition to murdering those closest to him, Anton’s evil hand significantly hinders his chances with lovely neighbor Molly.

The songs born out of these "momentarily depressed" states are among the most emotionally powerful the pop music canon. Entertainment Weekly’s first-ever EW Fest on Saturday included a "Ryan Murphy and Friends" panel, with the seemingly indefatigable showrunner bringing out Scream Queens cast members Keke Palmer, Emma Roberts, and Lea Michele, and American Horror Story: Hotel's Kathy Bates and Matt Bomer, to chat with EW’s Tim Stack about everything Murphy. Here’s what we thought you should know. Murphy and Lady Gaga ate frozen yogurt at Barbra Streisand's house. Murphy told the story — also known as my nightly dream — of going with Lady Gaga to Barbra Streisand's house for dinner, and then taking a tour of her famous basement mall, in which she served them frozen yogurt. Let’s just slow down: Barbra Streisand's basement frozen yogurt store. As he explained: "That was an evening that was jaw-dropping for me. We had dinner with Barbra and Jim, and Kelly [Preston] and John [Travolta], and Gaga and I.

For the past four seasons of American Horror Story, there were a few guarantees: some genuine, terrifying scares; lots and lots of straight-up crazy (and sometimes downright confusing) plot developments; and an always electrifying performance from Ahs queen Jessica Lange. And while I’m sure we’ll still get the scares and the insanity that we’re used to with American Horror Story in its upcoming fifth season, titled Hotel, we won’t be getting any of Jessica Lange, as she decided to not return to the series for Season 5 to instead head back to Broadway. However, just because we won’t see Lange at all in Hotel doesn’t mean we’ll never see her on American Horror Story again. In fact, series co-creator Ryan Murphy has promised that “she’ll be back” in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve been talking to her,” Murphy tells EW‘s Tim Stack.

The fretful anticipation surrounding The Vampire Diaries' finale has been building since stars Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino announced in early April that they would leave the show after season 6.
With a fanbase as committed as Tvd's, it was inevitable viewers would be equal parts up-in-arms and dissolved-in-puddles regardless of how the characters made their exits. Unfortunately for Trevino's fans, his werewolf hybrid character Tyler Lockwood ended on more of a whimper than a growl on Thursday. The fanfare around the departure of Dobrev's on-screen persona Elena Gilbert, however, certainly merited the uproar heard around the Twitterverse during and after the East Coast airing.

“Shade” is not a word on my radar, and I don’t care when people throw it or get it. (Peace and love and butterflies all day, guys). But this clip of Jessica Lange literally rejecting the thought of Lady Gaga with her body, is the best thing I’ve seen in my 24 years of life.
The American Horror Story goddess broke our hearts when confirming she won’t return for season 5. And sorry, but if you thought Gaga getting cast would convince her to stay you’re completely mistaken. At the Ahs PaleyFest panel, moderator Tim Stack asked Lange as much when she almost started convulsing, only to reply, “What does that mean? I don’t understand the question.” Not a very good week for Gaga, huh?
This is how it went down. First was utter disbelief. “Did this guy really just go there?”

The cast of Glee has sung Madonna. They’ve sung Beyonce. They’ve sung everything from Fleetwood Mac to Katy Perry. Yet, after six seasons and hundreds of musical performances, there are still some songs they wish they could’ve recorded.
While Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Darren Criss, Dot-Marie Jones, Mark Salling, and Chord Overstreet all spent the show’s tear-filled PaleyFest farewell panel reminiscing on the past six years, they took some on the red carpet prior to dream up the performances that could’ve been.
“Every time I would hear a good song, I’d be like, ‘Oh I wish I could do this on Glee,” answered Salling. “I never got to do one I wanted either. I wanted to do a Radiohead song, but that I guess it didn’t really fit,” he said.

Let’s get two things out of the way here: I really liked X-Men: Days of Future Past. And I have complicated feelings about the X-Men movies, but one thing that doesn’t bother me is their screwy internal chronology. I am not a a continuity pedant; the fact that X-Men: First Class directly overrules several parts of X-Men 1 doesn’t lessen my enjoyment of either of them.
So what follows is not meant to nitpick the plot of Future Past. Rather, this is an inquisition, an attempt to seriously understand what the space-time continuum really looks like after it...

More than two decades later, and we still can’t look at a cup of water the same.
Just as the rippling water in that now iconic scene signaled the T. rex’s grand entrance, so did Jurassic Park usher in a new era of cinematic innovation. Making a reality of so many childhood dreams, it marries moviemaking wizardry and emotional complexity to electrifying effect. Park also straddles a number of genres (action-adventure, family, thriller, and sci-fi, to name a few) on top of its ready-made merchandising and theme-park ride potential, ultimately offering something for everyone. It won’t be long now until the X-Men franchise sets a new record for onscreen mutants with Days of Future Past, a movie about future X-Men and past X-Men and perhaps even some present-day X-Men. Beyond lies Apocalypse and another Wolverine and a mysterious spin-off movie that might be X-Force, with the implicit promise that they’ll keep making X-Men movies until X-Men 2099 is considered a period piece. (Remember X-Men 2099? Skullfire!) But a new dark horse has entered the X-Men Spin-Off Showcase sweepstakes: Channing Tatum told MTV’s Josh Horowitz that he has spoken to X-producer Lauren Shuler Donner...

Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, who’ll star as Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey in the adaptation of E L James’ Fifty Shades of Grey, is clearly the person you want sitting next to you at a dinner party. She knows how to keep a conversation lively, as Jessica Shaw and Tim Stack discovered Monday when Harden, who’s now starring on ABC’s comedy Trophy Wife, popped by Entertainment Weekly Radio’s TV Editors Hour. In addition to explaining why she wanted to hate her Trophy Wife co-star Malin Akerman but couldn’t, she also dishes on her first time...

Finding Nemo encompasses a tremendous amount of positive imagery that makes up Disney and Pixar’s populous appeal. From learning how to trust family and friends, to overcoming biggest fears and obstacles, Finding Nemo understands how to tap into the audience’s heartstrings and neatly ties in a meaningful message for the viewer to take home. Yet with every good side, there is a dark presence that even Disney can’t back away from. Like many Disney films, from Bambi to Frozen, Finding Nemo deals with a story whose basis stems from a broken household struggling with a great deal of separation. Why does Disney cling onto threads of such despair and heartache? Perhaps it’s a factor many can relate to. Or perhaps it’s a working formula that sweetens the arc of a happy ending. Either way, separation is a tapped fountain of which Hollywood has dipped into time after time again.

And so the third American Horror Story has come to an end. The final episode of Coven crowned a new Supreme and significantly increased the season’s already-impressive body count. Co-creator Ryan Murphy tells EW’s Tim Stack that he’s already working on the fourth iteration of Ahs — not to mention making plans for a fifth. And why not? Coven was the highest rated edition of the series yet. It also expanded the Ahs repertory, with Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett devouring city-sized scenery in precisely the kind of larger-than-life roles they haven’t been getting from movies: You...

There's always one day during the Sdcc when you just shake your head, laugh, and say, "This schedule is ridiculous." Saturday, July 20th, is shaping up to be that day this year.
Horror fans will have a lot of choices to make as the "Bates Motel" panel battles the one-two punch of Godzilla and Seventh Son. Later in the day you'll be faced with choosing to learn more about "True Blood," Telltale's The Walking Dead video game, or "Being Human." Right now 20th Century Fox's presentation that runs at the same time remains "To Be Announced," but once details are revealed, we'll provide an update.
Other panels vying for your attention throughout the day are "The Originals," "Grimm," I, Frankenstein teamed with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (that combination should make for some interesting audience reactions), a look at gameplay from Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One, more games, comics,...

There are movies we’ll watch every time we spot them on cable because we love them. For me, that’s Apollo 13. Then, there are movies that we’ll get sucked into because it’s summer and there’s nothing else on. This is particularly dangerous if you have the HBO family of channels — East and West feeds. The film that’s currently in heavy rotation is Pitch Perfect, which is genuinely great and therefore guilt-free — until you catch yourself tweeting about having a “toner” for Jesse (Skylar Astin), suddenly noticing how well that T-shirt fit him in the dorm room,...

The Tonight Show's recurring "Pumpcast News" segment on Wednesday was, well, a gas. In fact, you might say this particular installment of the segment on Jay Leno's show, which involves news anchor Jack Rafferty (actor Tim Stack) talking directly from a screen to surprised drivers while they're filling up at a station, put a song in our hearts (and a laugh in our belllies). When a man pumping gas is heard singing, Rafferty asks if he's a professional. The guy notes that he only does karaoke and proceeds to belt out Bon Jovi's "Living' on a Paryer," much to the amusement of his wife who is sitting in the car. She, in turn, is encouraged to step out and the...

Who would have thought that one of the most delightful segments on late night TV in recent memory was on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno"? On Wednesday's episode, a married couple, Will and Monifa Sims, stole America's hearts by singing karaoke for a segment, and proved that even Leno's show can provide some truly endearing moments.
The segment, "Pumpcast News," features actor Tim Stack as a fictional news anchor who speaks directly to people filling up at the gas station. But this time, he asked a couple to do karaoke, and they jump without hesitation into Bon Jovi and Eurythmics songs. They're great singers, but it's their unabashed joy and total lack of embarrassment that really makes this special.
Leno was kind enough to invite the Simses onto his show to sing with the Tonight Show Band. Check out the clip above and below to really have your day made.

The first annual CapeTown Film Festival, the brainchild of Entertainment Weekly’s CapeTown gamemaster Geoff Boucher, attracted fans of all ages for seven nights of classic superhero and sci-fi movie experiences, beginning with an early screening of Iron Man 3, and including the 30th anniversary celebration of Return of the Jedi. But it wasn’t just the nostalgia that made the festival a splendid success; it was the in-depth conversations with legends like Nimoy, Kurt Russell (Escape From New York), Mark Hamill, and Terry Gilliam (12 Monkeys).

A big night for CBS’ How I Met Your Mother and The CW’s The Carrie Diaries. Coming off a final season renewal order, Himym delivered its highest rating of the season Monday.
The episode brought back Robin Sparkles and was seen by 10.3 million viewers and had a 4.0 among adults 18-49. That’s up 8 percent from the long-running comedy’s last original airing two weeks ago and ranked as the evening’s top-rated show.
The rise was all the more remarkable considering Himym was the only CBS show to perk up in the demo this week.
