Movie star John Wayne played some of the most iconic characters across the war and Western genres. From Rooster Cogburn in True Grit to Davy Crockett in The Alamo, he commanded the screen in a way that went down in history. He intentionally avoided any roles that he considered as pushing the boundaries of his moral compass. However, Wayne once revealed that he only had one role that he thought was “cautious.”

Wayne pushed his own image of the Western movie hero through his roles. He wanted to create Hollywood magic, but he still wanted to create grounded characters that audiences would enjoy watching. Wayne changed the way that heroes fight on the silver screen, allowing them to “fight dirty” in response to an antagonist using violence to get their way.

Top Chef: Kentucky has just four contestants as of the Thursday, March 7 episode and we need to take a moment to marvel: It's three women and a black man. Eric Adjepong, Sara Bradley, Kelsey Barnard Clark and Michelle Minori are all that remain of the 15 contestants who put their knives to good use throughout season 16. With just one more round before the finals, Top Chef: Kentucky could have an all-female final competition. In "The Tase of Macau," airing Thursday, March 7 at 8 p.m. on Bravo, the four contestants must cook with the world's smelliest fruit, durian. The fruit is a delicacy in...

If Alan Pardew’s recent successes and the 5th place finish he lead the club to in 2012 has proved one thing, it’s that underwhelming managers can manage spectacular things. It might be unfair to cast Pardew off entirely as a terrible manager – it is a close run thing there for a while and the jury should still be out – and over the years Newcastle have been stuck with some seriously poor managers.
But there have been some surprising moments of over-achievement from even the very worst – including Gordon Lee, the man generally held as the very worst manager ever to take control at St. James’ Park. If nothing else, this at least offers the lesson that we shouldn’t always trust generic opinions either way, and indeed that high-points are indeed possible by otherwise irredeemable managers.
But who is the greatest player to have defied...
