Banging a drum about stuff we love is more or less our remit on Den Of Geek - hence what many readers have started referring to as the ‘inexplicably regular' appearance of Statham, squirrels and Harold Bishop from Neighbours on these pages.
To that end then, we asked our writers which comedy shows (past and present, UK or otherwise, on TV, radio, or online…) deserved more praise, and here are the ones they chose. You might already like them too, or you might discover something new to dig out and enjoy. That’s the fun of it.

Threatened by funding cuts, Bristol's Slapstick Festival is 'the most important celebration of this kind of comedy in the world'
Comedians including satirist Marcus Brigstocke and impressionist Rory Bremner are staging a benefit concert to save a festival dedicated to a brand of humour that is a century old – silent movie slapstick.
The one-night show aims to shore up the finances of Bristol's Slapstick Festival, after a cut in funding threatened to end the annual four-day extravaganza of silent comedy films. Also on the Stand Up For Slapstick bill on 24 June are Arthur Smith, Lucy Porter and veteran writer and performer Barry Cryer.
"The Slapstick Festival has grown during eight years to become perhaps the most important celebration of this kind of comedy anywhere in the world," said former Goodie and organiser Graeme Garden, a patron and director since 2007. "Silent comedy marks the start of modern humour. But, more importantly,...

It looks like Andy Richter will be stepping from behind the podium on Conan to another podium (I am guessing) for a new game show on TBS entitled Pyramid. The show is reportedly a modern-day take on the iconic game show that began asThe $10,000 Pyramid.
I really enjoye watching Men of A Certain Age, and highly recommend it. The new shows don't really catch my interest yet, aside from Pyramid. Check out the full lineup below and share your thoughts on what shows you are most interested in seeing.

Years of scandalous behavior, devolving into the natural order of being usurped for headlines by the likes of Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan and new young pretties, aging reality TV star Paris Hilton is being bet on again for a TV show by Oxygen. The nadir of NBC's press day in Pasadena on Friday, April 15, was undoubtedly the panel that featured Paris Hilton, mother And co-star Kathy Hilton and series executive producer Arthur Smith. Hilton will show the real Paris, not the oops this isn't my drug stash in... hey this isn't my purse, officer! Paris. But will focus on the business Svengali Paris who is perhaps sitting at a desk, coming up with great media event ideas...

Agoglia and his team help U.S. communities after suffering natural disasters.

The Zombieland soundtrack. Considering that the movie revolves around a neatly-ordered roster of rules (Jesse Eisenberg’s cowardly Columbus comprehensively laying down the law on how to avoid being gobbled by the undead), it seems appropriate that the soundtrack of Zombieland should exhibit similarly taxonomic tendencies. Because the range of songs here each fall into one of several sub-categories, with these mini-groupings then in turn all uniting under a single banner – that of the Flag of Fromage. So we get examples of barroom rock cheese, lonely hearts cheese, Americana cheese, and pop culture cheese, as well as a few bits of random classical and college rock being tossed into the great zombie fondue as well.
It is a musical collection which seems attuned to the spawning movie’s two central characters, with the robust, no-nonsense sensibility of Woody Harrelson’s Tallahassee and the simpering timidity of Columbus both seeping through from specific cuts.

"I was beginning to believe," says Benjamin Zephaniah, "that I was a mindless drugs freak." He looks pained as he says it, but this isn't a confession. Squashed between the telly and the sofa in Arthur Smith's front room, he's performing his poem "Rong Radio." Upstairs, the comedian Stephen K. Amos has been doing a skit in the bath. Musicians have been playing in the bedroom and we, the tiny "studio" audience for this recording of Smith's Radio 4 show, Arthur Smith's Balham Bash, have been wandering from room to room, occasionally returning to the kitchen to grab fistfuls of tortilla chips. "So, was that your smallest ever venue for a performance?" I ask Zephaniah when the microphones are switched off. "Oh no," he says. "I was once asked to do one in this woman's home, just in front of...

Fox is developing a matrimonial reality series where brides-to-be don't meet their husbands until they exchange vows.
In A. Smith & Co.'s "I Married a Stranger," a woman frustrated by the dating scene agrees to wed a man she's never met. While she prepares for her blind wedding, friends and family are shown selecting a spouse from a pool of six eligible suitors offered by producers. Los Angeles -- Mark Burnett called for reality producers to be allowed a seat at the table when network execs talk about their programming with advertisers.
During a gathering of reality hitmakers at a Hollywood Radio & Television Society luncheon in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, Burnett was asked by moderator Jeff Probst what is the most frustrating aspect of dealing with networks.
"The biggest problem is the massive disconnect ... between creative producers and ad sales," the "Apprentice" creator said. "The dumbest thing in the world is that the people who are trying to sell advertising -- the entire reason for this business -- are explaining what the content is after hearing about it third-hand. We're not there to say, 'Here's what the show is, here's my vision, here's the feel of it, and here's how I think some of your products could integrate seamlessly without harming the experience for the viewers.
