Tribeca Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal doesn’t follow a North Star as she and her team sift through tens of thousands of submissions each year. But as they whittle down those applicants to the 100 or so films comprising the final lineup, themes tend to emerge.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler says she was told not to disclose her multiple sclerosis diagnosis on The Sopranos by the set physician.
While appearing on Sophia Bush’s podcast Work in Progress, the actress shared that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 20-years-old, a year after receiving a Lyme disease diagnosis.
Shortly after being told she had Ms, she had her cast physical and told the physician about her latest health update. “He’s like, ‘Uh yeah, I don’t think you should tell anybody about that and I’m not going to put this down [on your medical records],'” Sigler recalled.
“I just followed his advice because I also wasn’t that symptomatic at the time so it wasn’t something that I thought about, or that I had to think about all the time,” she explained. Sigler then confirmed she initially “told no one, absolutely no one” on the set about her Ms diagnosis.

In the past month, Roberts also left New York to travel around the country for several days on various assignments for ABC’s morning and evening news programs.
That included stops in Iowa, Tennessee, and California before she returned to New York and Connecticut, her home region.
Ahead of the Thursday, March 21 episode of GMA, she shared what some might consider a cryptic message about work and family, followed by an update about traveling.

In an emotional and honest interview with ABC News, Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler open up about living with multiple sclerosis, with the former star of Netflix’s Dead to Me revealing she has likely had the chronic central nervous system disease for six or seven years before she was diagnosed.
Applegate, 52, and Sigler, 42, spoke with Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts about their Ms diagnoses and living with the incurable disease in a segment that aired Wednesday morning. Applegate initially decided to get checked for Ms when she noticed her toes tingling while filming the Netflix series’ final season and was diagnosed in 2021. But she revealed to Roberts that the symptoms were there for years.

Christina Applegate revealed she was likely living with multiple sclerosis for years before she was diagnosed in a new interview with Good Morning America. The segment marked the actress’ first time talking about the autoimmune disease on TV since she was diagnosed in 2021.
“I probably had it for six or seven years, I think,” Applegate said. “I noticed, especially the first season [of the Netflix series Dead to Me], we’d be shooting, and my leg would buckle. I really just put it off as being tired, or I’m dehydrated, or it’s the weather.

Christina Applegate is opening up about living with multiple sclerosis on “Good Morning America” in her first on-camera sit-down interview following her 2021 diagnosis.
“I live kind of in hell,” Applegate told host Robin Roberts. “I’m not out a lot, so this is a little difficult, just for my system. But of course, the support is wonderful and I’m really grateful.”
Applegate participated in the interview — which aired in full on Wednesday — alongside “The Sopranos” star Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who has been living with Ms since she was 20 years old. The two were promoting their new podcast, “MeSsy,” which debuts March 19.
“I’m never going to wake up and go, ‘This is awesome.’ I’m just going to tell you that. Like, it’s not going to happen,” she continued. “I wake up and I’m reminded of it every day … But I might get to a place where I function a little bit better.

Robin Roberts told her Good Morning America co-star “Not a chance” during a wild TV segment that included their colleagues.
After missing GMA in New York last week, Roberts returned to the studio for episodes on Monday and Tuesday.
Her co-anchor, Michael Strahan, was out both days, likely due to spending time with family or other significant events.
However, Roberts and Strahan appeared together in a recent piece of movie magic for viewers.
With the Oscars this past weekend, it also meant Oscars afterparties, and GMA was part of the festivities.
The group participated in a crazy, fun spoof of one of the top award contenders throughout the 2024 awards season.

As is said with JFK, no American will ever forget where they were, or what they were doing, when Tony Soprano was shot in the series finale of The Sopranos. Recall is easier in the case of Tony, as every single witness was doing exactly the same thing at the time of his assassination: getting ready to kick their TVs into a million pieces.
The strange thing is that little of the raw emotion stirred up by the finale was connected with the actual assassination of Tony Soprano. Hardly anyone flinched, raged, gasped, or wept for the terminated mafioso. Do you know why? Because hardly anyone – myself included – even knew that it had happened. Over a million witnesses to a murder, and not one of them could give a credible statement or offer reliable testimony. Now that, my friends, is the definition of a perfect mafia hit.
It begs the question,...

The classic show “The Sopranos” began its life on HBO on January 10, 1999, single handedly launching the Golden Age of Cable Drama. It’s difficult to recall now, but when the show premiered, HBO was not yet HBO, and original programming outside of network primetime was still in its infancy. Creator David Chase crafted a series at once dark and comedic, violent and emotionally vibrant. It introduced the world to entertainment’s ultimate antihero in Italian-American mob boss Tony Soprano, played with power, pathos and perturbation by James Gandolfini. Beset by depression and panic attacks, he showed us what “The Godfather” never did: a gangster in therapy, regularly visiting the office of New Jersey psychotherapist Dr. Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco) to download his many troubles and come to terms with a toxic mother Livia (Nancy Marchand). Tony’s long-suffering wife Carmela (pitch-perfect work from Edie Falco) and precocious daughter Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) completed his female-surrounding quartet.

James Gandolfini’s performance as Tony Soprano on HBO’s “The Sopranos” is often cited as some of the best acting in TV history, but co-star Jamie-Lynn Sigler recently revealed that Gandolfini often questioned himself on the set of the Emmy-winning drama series. Sigler played Tony’s daughter, Meadow, on the show, which ran for six seasons and 86 episodes between 1999 and 2007.
“Jim was the type of scene partner where it felt like he was there and his only intention was to make me as good as I could be,” Sigler recalled on a recent episode of Michael Rosenbaum’s “Inside of You” podcast (via Entertainment Weekly). “And it had nothing to do with him. Every time I worked with him, I felt like his sole purpose was… ‘I’m going to help you give your best fucking take, Jamie.'”
“It had nothing to do with his confidence,” Sigler continued.

In May 2021, after 19 years in Los Angeles, comedians and married couple Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky (aka Christina P), moved to Austin with their two young sons. Segura says he felt like L.A., in mid-pandemic, was falling apart. “I was like, ‘This city is turning into a shit show!'” he tells Variety.
About one month after they moved, Pazsitzky suffered an injurious fall in their new home. And, as you might expect, Segura ended up turning the (non-life-threatening) accident into a bit, which is featured in “Tom Segura: Sledgehammer,” his upcoming stand-up special premiering July 4 globally on Netflix.

Some time ago, comedian Tom Segura teased on his Ymh Studios podcasts that he’d decided to self-finance and shoot a mystery video project, with further details to be disclosed at a later date. And at long last, they’re beginning to emerge, as Segura has disclosed to Deadline his sale to a streaming service of a pilot in which he’ll star.
“We…produced a pilot that we sold to one of the streamers…We financed it, we produced it, wrote it,” Segura shared during a Zoom call late last week. “This was a hundred percent like the podcast way of thinking, which was like, ‘Just make the thing.’ So we just made it, spent a fortune doing it, but I think for the right reasons. And I think they’ll probably make an announcement about it soon, maybe when the strike resolves. But we’re very excited about it,...

When philanthropist and jewelry designer Nancy Davis founded Race to Erase Ms 30 years ago, the medical world was grappling with limited solutions for those affected by multiple sclerosis, the chronic neurological disease in which immune system cells attack myelin (protective sheaths) in the central nervous system.
Two years earlier, in 1991, Davis refused to accept the bleak prognosis handed to her at the age of 33 when she herself was diagnosed with Ms. “They [doctors] told me I should just go home and go to bed. There were a lot of hocus-pocus remedies like bee stings — pretty crazy things that were not going to help you. It was quite scary and terrifying. I obviously did not listen.”
Two years later, she founded the Race to Erase Ms, which in three decades has raised more than $50 million to fund critical research on multiple sclerosis, which is estimated to affect nearly one million people in the United States.
