Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) might need to watch out for a certain McGrath in Law & Order: Svu—and no, we’re not talking about the (now acting) chief (Terry Serpico). Rather, it’s his wife, Katie, played by a very familiar face for procedural fans, Blue Bloods‘ Amy Carlson, and we’d love to see more of these two women going toe to toe. (Fun fact: Carlson guest starred as another character in a Season 2 episode of Svu.) The latest episode featured a case that was very personal for the McGraths, their daughter’s rape. During the course of the investigation, McGrath got heated and threatened the teen he thought was responsible, and Benson had to report his actions and words to Internal Affairs. As a result, Captain Curry (Aimé Donna Kelly) joined the investigation. At one point, Katie pulled Benson aside to tell her she’d spoken with her husband.

This is Day 82 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
There’s solidarity in the air in LA with a slew of writers continuing to join the actors’ picket lines after securing their own deal with the AMPTP.
As talks between SAG-AFTRA and the studio alliance restart, the picket lines, now focused on the actors requests, are still busy and, as seen this morning, full of “cautious optimism.”
Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer, whose upcoming NBC comedy Extended Family has shot the first six episodes, told Deadline, “The writers got real progress. I have constantly voiced my frustration with the AMPTP for not starting the negotiations a lot sooner. But it’s better than nothing.”
He added that he’s preparing himself for a deal “however long it takes.”
His biggest worry about the future of the entertainment industry, as it pertains to actors, is the “hollowing out of the industry.

When Law & Order: Svu returns for Season 25, it will be without a familiar face.
According to TV Line, Molly Burnett is bowing out as Det. Grace Muncy as a series regular.
Burnett's exit played out during the conclusion of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3, which served as a crossover with Svu.
Muncy revealed to Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) that Chief Tommy McGrath (Terry Serpico) had rewarded her dedication to the Elias Olsen case by giving her a spot on a DEA task force.
As a result, Burnett is no longer a series regular, but that doesn't mean she won't pop back up down the line.
If the Law & Order universe has taught us anything, former stars are never truly gone and pop back up when there's a story to tell.
Wolf Entertainment, which produces Svu, shared a clip of Molly's goodbye in more detail.

The Svu team is down a member: Molly Burnett, the actor behind Det. Grace Muncy, is leaving NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit after one season. Following the series finale, TVLine confirmed that Burnett is no longer an Svu series regular. The Yellowstone fandom, much like the show itself, is strong-willed and fiercely loyal. This writer will admit, I have dived into the deep end in a few different online forums to see what other fans of the show are talking about, and often share in the joy the show brings to us every Sunday.
For most of us, the show is a strange, dark, and violent catharsis – which explains the rabid response to characters like John (Kevin Costner), Beth (Kelly Reilly) and fan-favorite Rip (Cole Hauser). We’ll be seeing more of Octavio Pisano on Law & Order: Svu. Pisano, who portrays Detective Joe Velasco, has been promoted to series regular on the NBC procedural.
Pisano’s Joe Velasco is a former undercover and detective under Chief McGrath (Terry Serpico) who’s been assigned to the Svu. Pisano has appeared in 3 episodes so far, beginning with the season 23 premiere.
Season 23 picked up mere hours after last season’s finale, where Catalina Machado (Zabryna Guevara) was arrested for trafficking single mothers living in shelters in a complex housing-for-sex scheme. She now wants to flip on her superiors in exchange for a deal with the feds, and names a powerful congressman as the big fish. It’s a make-or-break case for the NYPD and puts enormous pressure on the entire Svu squad to get a conviction.

I knew she wouldn't put up with McGrath interfering with her support of victims, but on Law & Order: Svu Season 23 Episode 4, she went far beyond my expectations.
Of course, this isn't the end of her war with that idiot, but at least for now, she's got the upper hand.
McGrath is in a tough spot because Benson runs one of the most important and successful units in the NYPD. He can't afford to lose her, but he wants things his way.
It seems that his desire to get rid of Garland went way beyond not wanting a Black man who is willing to speak up against racism in the police department. He wants to turn the NYPD into the servants of the rich and hang less wealthy victims out to dry.
Benson: We are looking at the same guy.
Rollins: So now McGrath is going to take this seriously?...

"Don't hide from your demons." Indican Pictures has revealed the official trailer for an eerie indie horror-thriller titled Faceless, a new film from filmmaker Marcel Sarmiento, director of the strange genre films Heavy Petting and Deadgirl. His latest film is another strange concept that is especially unsettling - a man wakes up to discover he has received a full face transplant. Brendan Sexton III stars in this as George, with a cast including Alex Essoe, Terry Serpico, Clayton Landey, and Blake Robbins. This article contains Cobra Kai spoilers.
Cobra Kai season 3 revealed the backstory we didn’t know we wanted – the harrowing Vietnam experience of Cobra Kai’s biggest villain, Sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove). Cobra Kai has been on point when it comes to filling in the personal histories of their characters. The writing team of Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Bob Dearden have keen eyes for details and find reasonable justifications for the actions of its villains. Johnny’s (William Zabka) abusive father Sid (Ed Answer) has provided some redemption to his character’s initial villainy. But Kreese has remained villainous throughout the entire franchise. We don’t need to rehab all the villains, do we?
Kreese’s origin tale is told across three episodes. Despite their brevity, they’re packed with clever Easter eggs for fans to find over repeated viewings and tricky red herrings that toy with fan expectations.

Exclusive: Taylor Sheridan had to push back an hour on his Deadline Emmy nomination week interview, e-mailing simply, “I gotta move cows.” Sheridan is the real thing, owner of a working cattle ranch in Weatherford, Texas, and co-creator, writer of every episode and director of most in the Paramount Network and 101 Studios series Yellowstone. The drama stars Kevin Costner as the well-worn Montana-based ranch patriarch John Dutton, who clings to the largest ranch in the country as desperadoes, bankers, real estate speculators and Native American activists try to wrest it from his tight grip.
Led by Dutton’s children, played by Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly and Wes Bentley, and Cole Hauser, Kelly Asbille, Danny Huston and Gil Birmingham, the show took some dark turns in Season 2 as the Duttons battled the Beck Brothers (Neal McDonough & Terry Serpico), two land-grabbing siblings so ruthless they hired neo-Nazi mercenaries to kill Beth...

Yellowstone Season 2 Episode 10
“Don’t let ‘em take it away from you,” a dying John Dutton Sr. (Dabney Coleman) tells his son (Kevin Costner) in a flashback. “Not a goddamn inch.”
Many, many years later, the child-turned-patriarch sits on the porch of his massive Yellowstone Ranch home, reflecting on the recent kidnapping of his grandson and the ever-present fact that so many parties have been trying to take it all away for so long.
“My whole life is just a long series of losing things I love. I’m not going to lose this one, Rip. Not this one,” he tells his trusted ranch hand (Cole Hauser). And so begins “Sins of the Father,” final episode of Yellowstone Season 2 on the Paramount Network. Now that the Beck...

Spoilers Abound! In tonight’s tense season climax of his Paramount Network hit television series Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan got as close as he could to the old fashioned frontier justice showdowns seen in films from High Noon to Wyatt Earp to Sheridan’s directorial debut Wind River. The Ruthless Beck Brothers — played with devilish gusto by Neal McDonough & Terry Serpico — overtook Season Two with their desire for Kevin Costner’s John Dutton to cut them into his Yellowstone Ranch, just as they wanted Danny Huston’s real estate developer Dan Jenkins and Gil Birmingham’s Chief Thomas Rainwater to cut them in on their action. The Becks were roundly turned down, and the blood begins to spill shortly after.
The Duttons got the full force of Beck retribution when John Dutton’s tough daughter Beth was attacked by two white supremacist thugs sent by the Beck Brothers. Her assistant was...

Yellowstone Season 2, Episode 9
As with the majority of the Yellowstone season 2 episodes that came before it, “Enemies by Monday” begins with a nugget or two of wisdom from ranch patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). “It’s the one constant in life,” he tells his son and chosen heir, Kayce (Luke Grimes). “You build something worth having, someone’s gonna try and take it.” And much like his episode-starting comments in “Behind Us Only Grey” and “Resurrection Day,” John’s words are far more applicable than he realizes.
Specifically, in the case of his grandson Tate, the child of Kayce and his estranged wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille). Now that the little boy and his mother have returned to the Dutton family, John has been spending a lot of...

With the second season premiere of Succession looming on HBO this weekend and Billions on a break over at Showtime, the latest episode of Paramount’s own take on the popular “obscenely rich and deplorable families” genre firmly made its case. As strong (and weak) as the Duttons, their allies, and their enemies may seem, everyone in this program amounts to the same thing: caricatures of unforgivable violence and mayhem that, no matter how much audiences are pushed to empathize with them, are wholly beyond salvation.
Consider an otherwise tender moment between siblings Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) in the first five minutes of “Resurrection Day.”
“You know what's so dangerous about you?" she says. "You justify every act before you commit them. You're consumed with the world's perception of you.

Neal McDonough made his first appearance on Yellowstone with "The Reek of Desperation," and we had a chance to jump on the phone with him this week to chat about it.
McDonough has been a favorite for a long time with roles on shows like Band of Brothers, Desperate Housewives and Justified, and he's been a TV Fanatic staple with his roles within The CW's Arrowverse, Suits, and Project Blue Book.
It was his role in the 2006 movie The Guardian with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher where he began his friendship with Yellowstone's star, Costner.
"We both played college baseball -- we were Lsu and Shreveport -- and then we would go to the batting cages at lunch to hit baseballs during our break. And we got to know each other pretty well. And being a big family guy that he is, and you know myself, obviously with my five kids,...

Collin Chou, best known for his role as Seraph from The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, will play Edwin Chiu in the Netflix film, The Half of It, written and directed by Alice Wu. The project, the follow up to Wu’s 2004 film, Saving Face, the pic navigates the struggles of an immigrant family against the backdrop of an Americana teenage angst romantic comedy. The plot is said to be a modern day Cyrano-meets-Pygmalion centered on a shy, introverted, Chinese-American, straight-a student who finds herself helping the school jock woo the girl they both secretly love. In the process, each teaches the other about the nature of love as they find a connection in the most unlikely of places. Chou’s Edwin Chiu is struggling immigrant father of Ellie Chu (Leah Lewis) who was a highly educated engineer whose promising career was derailed by his poor English skills when he moved to America.

A modestly budgeted, cannily made survival drama centered on a fictional coal mine explosion in Appalachia, “Mine 9” plays a little like a humble blueprint for a more extravagant Hollywood exercise in high-octane heroism: Squint a little, and you can see how Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg, say, would muscle out the solemn, simple narrative devised here by writer-director-producer Eddie Mensore. That’s not a criticism of “Mine 9,” which is most interesting for the ways it avoids the standard gung-ho dramatics of a disaster movie, treating its male ensemble as heroes and victims in equal measure.
Neither is it a stringent exercise in docu-realism, however, as a streak of heartland sentimentality runs through its gritty tragedy. Dedicated to the hard-up coal-mining community in the closing credits, Mensore’s film aims chiefly to highlight the typical plight of an American underclass that rarely gets big-screen attention. That it does with honesty and conviction,...

"Paycheck ain't going to mean shit if you die two miles in, Kenny." View the first official trailer for an indie survival horror-thriller titled Mine 9, about a horrible mine disaster trapping nine men underground. From filmmaker Eddie Mensore, the film takes place in the Appalachians, where miners working two miles into the earth end up stuck underground after a methane explosion leaves them with only one hour of oxygen. Mine 9 stars Terry Serpico, Mark Ashworth, Kevin Sizemore, Clint James, Drew Starkey, Alpha Trivette, Erin Elizabeth Burns, Francine Locke, and Elizabeth Houston. The other recent big mine survival film was The 33, based on the true story. This one looks very dark and murky and muddy, of course, but also a bit more violent and crazy and dangerous. That horror wink at the end of this trailer is a bit odd. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Eddie Mensore's Mine 9,...

CBS has released a new featurette for Star Trek: Discovery that puts the focus on composer Jeff Russo and the score that he created for the opening title sequence of the series. It shows him working with a 60-piece orchestra and we get to hear the score that he came up with. It's actually really good and it wonderfully blends the original musical cue with the new theme. Listen to it below and let me know if you like it or not.
Star Trek: Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

The mission of Starfleet is made crystal clear in today’s tantalizing new promo for Star Trek: Discovery, the CBS All Access series set to light up the small screen in little under a month’s time.
Released via Instagram, the all-too-brief teaser places First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) front and center, before relaying the core values of Star Trek: tolerance, freedom and justice. However, true to the old saying that if you want peace, prepare for war, much of Discovery‘s opening season will revolve around Starfleet’s war against the Klingon Empire, which will surely spill over into season 2 – providing CBS issues the green light on a renewal.
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, here’s that voiceover in full, followed by the clip of Burnham reporting for duty:

CBS All Access has released the Comic-Con trailer for Star Trek: Discovery and it's the best and most intense trailer that I've seen for the series yet! The show takes place in a time when there is a conflict between Starfleet and Klingons, who are rising up to prove their power in the galaxy. we get our best look at this story in this trailer, which also features some pretty cool looking action sequences.
The series has such a cinematic feel to it and it looks like nothing we've really seen before from the Star Trek franchise and I like that about it. It looks like CBS actually has a great Star Trek series on their hands. The big question remains... will people pay for another streaming subscription service to watch it?

As a fan of Doug Jones, one of the things I'm looking forward to most about Star Trek: Discovery is seeing him play this new alien character. Until now, we really didn't know much about who he's playing, but thanks to EW, we have some intriguing new information to share with you. What we have known is that Jones plays a character named Lt. Saru and he is the Starfleet Science Officer. He's described as being the "Spock" of the series.
We managed to get a little tease of the character in the trailer that was released and according to showrunner Aaron Harberts, he has the power of sensing death! That's got to be one of the most depressing powers ever!
