You will probably not find the Underground Museum if you are looking for a museum. It has a black, nondescript storefront entrance on a wide berth of West Washington Boulevard, leading visitors through its gift shop and into the main gallery space. The family-owned collective and cultural hub is known for attracting a multiethnic crowd of Angelenos to the Arlington Heights neighborhood, typically for film screenings and album launches. On Monday, it welcomed mourners for Nipsey Hussle — the rapper, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and neighbor to most everyone in attendance who was fatally shot a day prior.

Studios, producers and agencies receive countless spec scripts – original feature length screenplays that weren’t the product of a paid writing assignment. To filter through hundreds and thousands of submissions to determine which are worth considering, or to identify writers with potential, the industry hires professional script readers to rate scripts.
The readers who write “coverage” can play a vital role in screenwriters’ prospects, but what do they think makes for a good script? One the industry’s leading data scientists, Stephen Follows, has attempted to answer this exact question in a year long study, using data from the coverage scores of 12,309 feature film screenplays, that resulted in a 65-page report that is being published today.
The scripts analyzed were a mix, from amateurs to award winners, all of which were submitted to Screencraft – a service used by screenwriters to submit to contests, fellowships, or pay to have their script covered.

As Netflix continues to assert itself as a major television company with such acclaimed series as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, Amazon Studios is racing to catch up by ordering series it hopes will be equally well-received. So far, Amazon has scored one big hit in the form of Jeffrey Tambor-led dramedy Transparent, and it hopes to find some more in the new lineup of pilots, which will be made available for viewing as part of the company’s first pilot season of 2015.
Enclosed are descriptions of all seven pilots, courtesy of Deadline. The talented involved on all of them is impressive, to say the least.
