Exclusive: Several months after entertainment attorney David Albert Pierce passed away last year, the boutique firm that bears his name is closing the doors.
Pierce Law Group will cease to exist immediately, with a number of partners and key staff moving on to the Pessah Law Group, I’ve learned. Managing Partner Aditya Ezhuthachan, partner and SAG vet Tony Hanna, and Controller Ben Kuerschner are among those joining litigator Maurice Pessah’s firm.

David Albert Pierce, an entertainment attorney who founded Pierce Law Group, Llp, in Beverly Hills in 1996 and over the course of his career represented clients from Milton Berle and The Comedy Store to such films as the 2012 Oscar-winning film The Artist, died July 29 at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. He was 56.
His death was announced by his family. A cause of death was not disclosed.

Last week, we learned that Gravitas Ventures and Iconic Events Releasing will be giving the killer animal horror comedy Slotherhouse a nationwide theatrical release on August 30th. Last month, we got a look at the trailer for the killer gopher horror comedy Caddy Hack, which is set to make its premiere at Kevin Smith’s Smodcastle theatre in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey on August 11th. Gravitas Ventures has acquired the rights to the upcoming horror-comedy “Slotherhouse,” directed by Matthew Goodhue. Alongside Iconic Events Releasing, the film will hit theaters nationwide on August 30.

The former evp at Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment has formed a multi-media company to develop features, TV, digital content and apps.
Los Angeles-based Trimax Media has secured an overhead deal with a private equity investor and formed a production financing alliance with financier Michael Gianfriddo’s Toronto-based Dominant Entertainment (De).
The joint venture will focus on financing and producing up to three films a year in the $5-40m range and De has greenlit the supernatural thriller Shadow Train.
Pre-production is scheduled for January in Toronto with Glazer (pictured) and Gianfriddo producing.
De’s strategic financial partner is Jesus Lorenzo Nevarez and writer and head of development at De Diana Kemp will consult on all projects between Trimax and De.
