A couple of months ago, Paramount and Miramax announced that they are reviving the Scary Movie horror parody series to bring a Scary Movie 6 to theatres sometime in 2025 – so we felt this was the perfect time to give the first movie in the franchise, the 2000 release Scary Movie (watch it Here), the Revisited treatment. You can hear all about it in the video embedded above!
Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans from a screenplay written by the team of Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Buddy Johnson, Phil Beauman, Jason Friedberg, and Aaron Seltzer, Scary Movie has the following synopsis: Defying the very notion of good taste, Scary Movie out-parodies the pop culture parodies with a no-holds barred assault on the most popular images and talked-about moments from recent films, television and commercials. The film boldly fires barbs at the classic scenes from Scream, The Sixth Sense, The Matrix, I Know What You Did Last Summer,...

Just as no history of Saturday Night Live would be complete without mention of The Groundlings, it would be impossible to tell the story of The Groundlings without talking about the role SNL has played in their continued success. Which is exactly what the legendary improv and sketch comedy theater intends to do when it hosts a star-studded panel later this month.
On Friday, June 28, The Groundlings will welcome back a handful of alums who have made it big both on that Los Angeles stage as well as in the hallowed halls of Studio 8H.
The panel, which will be moderated by current Main Company member Josh Duvendeck, will bring together what the official calendar listing describes as “legends of SNL and The Groundlings,” including original Not Ready For Prime-Time Player Laraine Newman, Jon Lovitz, Cheri Oteri, Chris Parnell, Julia Sweeney, Taran Killam, and Will Forte (who will beam in...

The cast of And Just Like That… is back on set, filming the show’s third season. While they just started filming last week, fans have already been treated to some surprise castings. Rosie O’Donnell will appear on the show, and Cheri Oteri has officially joined the cast. We have yet to see any past lovers resurface for season 3, but atleast one actor is interested in reprising their role. John Slattery, who played politician Bill Kelley in season 3 of Sex and the City, would happily appear in And Just Like That…
John Slattery would like to appear in ‘And Just Like That…’
In a 2023 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Slattery reflected on his time on Sex and the City and the show’s reboot. When asked if he would be interested in returning to the set, he didn’t hesitate to answer. Slattery said he would “absolutely” reprise his role, and...

Lorne Michaels is an expert at celebrating the legacy of “Saturday Night Live.” The show’s creator has produced variety specials for the NBC program’s 15th anniversary, 25th anniversary and 40th anniversary, so the upcoming 50th season should have a highly entertaining spectacle. Nothing less than a three-hour event would be expected, but how else should “SNL” celebrate the golden anniversary season, which would begin in the autumn of 2024 and continue through May, 2025?
Here is our exciting, fun suggestion for a way to go above and beyond for the live special. Over the course of a 20-22 episode season, NBC would certainly have almost every episode featuring the current cast along with hot guest hosts and musical guests. However, for the other five episodes spread out over several months, devote an entire 90 minutes to each previous decade. Invite back the biggest cast members from a decade along with well-known guest hosts and music stars.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 11 season premiere of “The Masked Singer,” which aired March 6 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” kicked off its 11th season on Wednesday night — and in perhaps the show’s most unusual reveal ever, comedian Kevin Hart brought his prank war with host Nick Cannon to the show.
Hart brought his one-night-only appearance to “The Masked Singer” as Book, singing the song “So Sick,” by Ne-Yo (who happened to be the Season 10 winner on the show). The performance… was a bit pitchy, dawg. At the end of the song, the show’s panelists seemed to dig it. But after Robin Thicke quickly I.D.’ed Hart, the star took off his costume to reveal himself.
“This is a prank, you had no idea I was coming here Nick, and guess what, there’s nothing you can do about it,...

If you didn't know Quentin Tarantino hosted "Saturday Night Live" in the 1990s, and had to guess when he took the Studio 8H stage, your best options would be early 1995 (when the zeitgeisty "Pulp Fiction" was speeding toward an Academy Awards showdown with "Forrest Gump"), early 1996 (to promote "From Dusk till Dawn") or late 1997/early 1998 (in support of "Jackie Brown"). None of these would be correct.
No, the brash indie filmmaking sensation guested on November 11, 1995, with nothing to promote but himself. This might seem peculiar now, but it made perfect sense at the time because, after the Oscars, Tarantino was hitting the talk show circuit harder than Don Rickles. Could you blame him? He'd skyrocketed from know-it-all video store clerk to generational filmmaking genius. The problem here was that Tarantino knew he was a genius before critics and fans started telling him so. How does one repay a team of producers for launching its highest grossing film of all time? Give them the key to the studio — literally.
On Monday, “Barbie” producers, LuckyChap’s Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara inked a first-look deal at Warner Bros., which distributed the $1.4 billion-grossing movie. So, to celebrate, Warner Bros. Pictures Group Co-Chairs and CEO Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca decided to resurrect an old tradition, started by WB co-founder Jack Warner.
“Every once in a while, when a significant piece of talent signed a deal with the studio, he presented that company, that talent, with a key to the studio,” De Luca said as he and Abdy raised a toast to the trio. “We are so delighted to have our first key to our studio be given to LuckyChap.”

After a strike-related delay, the Environmental Media Association held its 33rd annual awards gala on Saturday, recognizing Hollywood productions for their sustainability efforts both onscreen and behind the scenes. Avatar: The Way of Water, Extrapolations, Unstable and documentary Common Ground were among the night’s winners, with Laura Dern also being recognized with the Ema Ongoing Commitment Award for her activism in the fight against climate change.
At the event, held at Los Angeles’ Sunset Las Palmas Studios, Dern — who narrates and produced Common Ground, which follows the pioneers of the regenerative farming movement and the ways it may save the planet — began her speech by shouting out her collaborators on the film. She also praised her longtime publicist Annett Wolf and those who “walk the walk” like environmental icon Ed Begley Jr.

Long before she transitioned, Harper Steele was a writer at Saturday Night Live. She was hired in 1995, the same week that a performer named Will Ferrell joined the cast. Unlike his fellow Groundlings Chris Kattan and Cheri Oteri, who’d also been recruited from the L.A.-based improv group to join SNL that season, Ferrell had a hard time finding his groove right away. No one quite knew how to use this tall comedian with the deadpan stare and an ability to go from 1 to 1,000 on the rage scale in seconds flat.

Tatum O’Neal, in a poignant message to well-wishers days after the death of her father, actor Ryan O’Neal, offers a simple but heartfelt, “Thank you everyone for all your love and support,” she says in the Instagram video. “He’s in heaven now.” After a slight pause, the somber-looking Tatum reassures, “Yeah.”
The video, set to Anten’s dreamy, ambient-style instrumental “Hope To See You Again,” is accompanied by a written message: “Me & my kids loved you so much, daddy. You’ll forever be in my heart. Keep each other close, everyone. Life is a journey.”
After her brief spoken message, O’Neal’s tribute video becomes a montage of photos of her and her dad over the years, touchingly ending with the famous Paper Moon photo of the two actors, in character as Addie and Moses Pray, seated on a quarter moon.

In a world replete with quick-spreading disinformation and the subsequent, dangerous proliferation of kooky conspiracy theories, the 2021 animated series "Inside Job" — created by Shion Takeuchi (a writer on "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment") — was perfectly timed. "Inside Job" posited that every single conspiracy theory you've ever heard — whether it be Reptilians, JFK, the Mandela effect, the flat Earth, or the faked moon landing — were all 100 percent real. Clones were out there, severed heads were being kept alive in labs, and aliens regularly visited Earth. Just like in "The X-Files," ordinary citizens weren't allowed access to this knowledge.
Earth's conspiracies were overseen by a mysterious underground organization called Cognito, Inc., one of six major shadow governments secretly in charge of the world. The other five were the Catholic Church, the Illuminati, Atlantis, the Reptoids, and the Juggalos (tee hee). The central joke of "Inside Job" was that Cognito, Inc. was staffed by flawed,...

"Friends" was one of the most popular shows on television from the mid '90s into the early 2000s. Running for 10 seasons, and a total of 236 episodes, the series turned every single one of its main cast members into television superstars, and some of them even went on to have very lucrative film careers. When you're at the top of the TV ratings charts, there's one privilege that is truly an honor: hosting "Saturday Night Live."
"Saturday Night Live" is not only a late night staple, but it's a comedy institution. And since "Friends" was all the rage, almost everyone got to take the stage in Studio 8H and host an episode of "SNL." Though Matt Le Blanc never graced the "SNL" stage as host, Courteney Cox was first of the "Friends" cast to get the gig in April 1995, and David Schwimmer followed in October 1995. After a slew of cast members including Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson left last summer, Gardner, along with the likes of Ego Nwodim and Bowen Yang, have stepped up to fill the gap left. And she’s enjoying being “passed the ball more”.

It’s hard not to think about Donna Tartt’s novel The Secret History while watching Ethan Berger’s feature debut, The Line. Richard Papen, the protagonist of Tartt’s crisp and propulsive novel, bears quite the resemblance to Tom (Alex Wolff), the main character of Berger’s compelling thriller. Like Richard, Tom is a scholarship student who finds himself cavorting with an elite segment of campus. The classic majors’ cabal, organized around the worship of a mysterious professor, is what pulled Richard in; Greek life, with its allure of fraternal fidelity and alumni access, is what bewitches Tom. Both characters are ashamed of their working-class roots and, in a futile attempt to fit in, mask and mock their pasts.
The Line follows Tom as he learns the same devastating lessons Richard did. Berger, who cowrote the screenplay with Alex Russek, telegraphs the tragedy early, which means we don’t...

There have been plenty of movies detailing life in a fraternity — Animal House being the crown jewel of all, no matter how outrageously funny. The newest entry in the genre, The Line, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival this weekend, is not trying to amuse on any level; a deadly serious take on college frat houses, it looks like it was ripped straight from the many headlines about hazing deaths and horrific goings-on at these places.
However, for at least its first half to first two thirds, this feature film debut for director Ethan Berger (who also co-wrote the script with Alex Russek) is aiming to entertain with a look at the fictional southern Kappa Nu Alpha fraternity in all its vile, sick, crass ugliness. If the goal was to make us hate these guys, the filmmakers succeed admirably. By the end I wanted see every last one of them...

Set within a typically raucous fraternity at a fictional college, Ethan Berger’s “The Line” foretells where it’s headed early on when the school administrator warns of repercussions if a hazing is performed. Consider Chekhov’s gun cocked from that point: Audiences can guess what awaits, though the lead-up to the inevitable is lively and compelling, while also affording a slew of rising actors a chance to display their talent.
Written by Berger and Alex Russek, “The Line” focuses on Tom (Alex Wolff), a sophomore striving to overcome his impoverished background who believes that belonging to a fraternity is a chance for opportunities and connections. Things look promising when he’s picked by the fraternity’s president, Todd (Lewis Pullman), as a potential successor. He starts seeing an attractive fellow student (Halle Bailey). Zach Braff has shared his mixed feelings of sadness and joy at Gwyneth Paltrow’s trial coming to an end.
On Thursday (30 March), jurors found that Paltrow was not at fault for a 2016 ski collision, effectively awarding the Goop founder and actor a symbolic $1.

Over his decades-spanning career, Mike Myers has crafted some of comedy's most memorable characters. You might know him most fondly as the headbanging hero Wayne of "Wayne's World," whether on "Saturday Night Live" during his '89-'95 tenure or in the celebrated movie adaptations. Perhaps you recall how he dominated the late '90s as both villain and swinging protagonist in the spy-parodic "Austin Powers" movies, and the subsequent inability to walk down the street without hearing a poorly-feigned Dr. Evil impression. Maybe ogres are your bag, making Myers' turn as an unrefined Scottish mean green machine Shrek the zenith of his talents. Or perhaps the name is fairly new for emergent comedy fans, the product of stumbling upon the cult-centric laugh-fest "The Pentaverate" on Netflix. Myers' influence on comedy is well-established, but what influences the influencer?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and the comedians who impersonated news icon Barbara Walters gave performances worthy of her caliber. The most famous was Gilda Radner's "Baba Wawa" from "Saturday Night Live," in which Radner portrayed the newscaster and interviewer with an exaggerated accent that turned her R's into W's. As Wawa, Radner hosted "Not For Ladies Only," a spoof of Walters' own "For Women Only" NBC panel show that would lay the groundwork for her long-running series "The View." While Walters wasn't originally a fan of the portrayal, she eventually learned to have a laugh at her own expense and even celebrated her retirement by appearing on "SNL" and poking a bit of fun at both the sketch show and herself.
While it's understandable that Walters was a bit hurt at Radner making fun of her speech patterns, Radner's spoof of Walters took her from being...

Exactly one year ago today, 2021 got in one last sucker punch with the death of Betty White. Now, 2022 has wrapped up with a heavy blow of its own: trailblazing news anchor and interviewer Barbara Walters has died at the age of 93.
Walters' career spanned more than half a century, during which time she hosted the "Today" show, "ABC Evening News," and "20/20" before creating and hosting her daytime talk show, "The View." Walters also made many appearance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live," where she was played by various members of the comedy show's cast over the years. Gilda Radner debuted the character of "Baba Wawa" in 1975, spoofing Walters' slight speech impediment that caused her to struggle with the letter "R." Walters later told the New York Daily News that she "wasn't so thrilled" with the parody at first. But one night, after she found her young daughter Jacqueline watching a...

You’ve probably never heard of “Pbc.” For accountants, Pbc is a common acronym for “Provided by Client.” Also for accountants: FloQast software. And, in what seems like the ultimate bad idea for target-demo marketing, “Pbc” is a branded-content comedy series about accounting that’s produced by FloQast Studios.
But here’s the weird part: “Pbc” is not bad. Its supporting cast includes Danny Trejo (“Machete”), Kate Flannery (“The Office”), and Pete Gardner (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”). It just added Cheri Oteri (“Saturday Night Live”) and Neil Flynn(“Scrubs”). You probably wouldn’t know the series’ leads, Jessica Sarah Flaum and Christian A. Pierce, but they’re talented and have a total Jim-and-Pam thing going on.
If you want to check it out, Season 2 is now streaming (timed by FloQast to give accountants some much-need levity ahead of the busy accounting season). “Pbc” is not the next big Nielsen hit; for one thing,...

In assembling its annual list of the 50+ men and women who matter most in comedy today, The Hollywood Reporter surveyed the top performers, writers, producers, showrunners and execs in the industry to get their read on how the business of making people laugh is evolving. Below, long-established superstars (e.g. Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Kevin Hart), as well as some of this year’s breakouts (e.g. Kate Berlant and John Early, and the makers of smash hit half-hour The Bear) share their thoughts on the most played-out punchlines, offer their best ideas for getting comedies back in theaters, and assess what can safely be joked about these days. (For many, the answer on that last count remains: everything!) We also asked them to reveal more personal information, such as their secret sources of inspiration, and funniest mean thing ever said about them.

Saturday Night Live’s Season 48 opener was all about change.
The show introduced a new logo, a retro vibe that marked its first new look in eight years, and a cast size that was more reminiscent of classic seasons than the recent bloated pandemic years.
The departures of Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Chris Redd, Melissa Villaseñor, Alex Moffat and Aristotle Athari has led to one of the series biggest transitions for the NBC show in over 20 years.

Colin Jost and Michael Che got right into poking fun at politics in Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment.
Jost and Che also joked about Russia, Hurricane Ian, President Biden, Ted Cruz, Ginni Thomas, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lizzo’s flute playing, and the CIA’s plans to launch a new podcast as part of the classic news-desk skit.
New cast member Michael Longfellow was front and center, making his Weekend Update debut as the child of conservatives. He was asked for his thoughts on the backlash that Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney faced for allegedly having Trump-supporting family members.
“Well, my family is from Arizona, so if you can get in trouble for what your parents think — uh, it’s been a good run,” he said.

With a smorgasbord of greatest hits past and perhaps present, Saturday Night Live went successfully mega-meta tonight in the sometimes bubbling over cold open of its Season 48 debut.
“I got to point out, where’s the balance politically?” asked host Miles Teller in his best Peyton Manning impersonation. “They’re making Trump Columbus jokes, meanwhile Joe Biden’s lost his damn marbles,” the Top Gun: Maverick actor added to the Andrew Dismukes-portrayed Eli Manning on the split screen as James Austin Johnson reprised his Potus 45 role from last year. “They’re not even going to mention that.”

Miles Teller made his childhood dreams come true as the host of Saturday Night Live.

However, Teller, as an 8-year-old, didn’t play Ferrell’s character but rather that of Cheri Oteri’s because he “had the frame for it,” while his older sister took on Ferrell’s role.

As Lorne Michaels tells it, Saturday Night Live’s most significant cast shakeup in a generation is a product of the pandemic.
In interviews after the Emmy Awards and with The New York Times, Michaels noted that in normal times, the likes of Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Pete Davidson might have left SNL in 2020 or 2021 to pursue other work.
“The pandemic had put us in this position where no one could really leave because there were no jobs,” Michaels told the Times, echoing his post-Emmys comments that there “was no place to go” for long-serving cast members who might otherwise have left beforehand.
Regardless of the cause, Saturday’s 48th season opener will be the first show after one of the largest cast shake-ups in its history. The show did a near-total overhaul prior to the 1985-86 season, and a similar one...

In Comedy Central’s upcoming movie “Out of Office,” Ken Jeong and Leslie Jones star as a dysfunctional couple whose marriage increasingly unravels during work-from-home. And in a sneak peek scene, shared exclusively with TheWrap, the two characters go at it in a hilarious Nsfw rage so all-encompassing that they forget the existence of several coworkers listening in via Zoom.
The minute-long clip opens with Jones’ character chucking a dirty porcelain plate at Jeong’s head: “If one of those shards of glass ends back up in my underwear drawer, I’m gonna take it and cut off your dick.”
While the eyebrow-raising threat elicits gasps and gapes from Kyle’s (Jeong) employees, he doesn’t lose a beat in answering, “That might be difficult, given your newfound allergy to dick.” In response, his wife hits back, “Your dick, Kyle. Your dick.” And the insults keep flying (watch the clip...

Is it kind of ridiculous? Yes, but it’s also the reboot of “Dynasty” you never knew you wanted, one that’s best watched with a living room full of your rowdiest and most opinionated friends. Everyone in the movie is doing a variation on Italian-accented English, the settings are opulent, and Gaga is giving look after look after hat after hat and you will respect the wild, criminal duh-raaamaaa of it all.
Also Available:
“American Underdog” (Lionsgate) Zachary Levi stars as NFL champ Kurt Warner, who overcame multiple challenges and setbacks on the road to football glory.
“Apex” (Rlje Films) Bruce Willis must kill or be killed in order to escape prison.

Exclusive: Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to Jump, Darling, an LGBTQ+ family drama featuring the final performance of the late screen icon Cloris Leachman, with plans to release it in theaters and on digital and VOD in March.
The film written and directed by Phil Connell tells the story of Russell (newcomer Thomas Duplessie), an aspiring actor otherwise known for his drag persona, Fishy Falters. After a disastrous non-debut at Toronto drag club Peckers, Russell leaves his status-conscious boyfriend and takes shelter in Canadian wine country with his grandmother Margaret (Leachman)—a woman coming to terms with her own mortality, who is at the same time determined to hang on to her independence.
While Russell struggles to establish himself at the local dive bar and flirts with not-so-straight busboy Zachary (Kawku Adu-Poku), Margaret fends off the best intentions...

Chloe Fineman has proved to be one of the best players in the new generation of “Saturday Night Live” cast members. A highlight is Ooli, the aggressively wacky Icelandic social media star-turned talk-show host that Fineman originally created on her Instagram. In Saturday night’s new episode of “SNL,” hosted by CEO and self-described Tesla “Technoking” Elon Musk, “The Ooli Show” was joined by Frances McDormand and Steve Buscemi. Watch the clip below.
As McDormand, McKinnon nailed the jaw jutting and unblinking stare of the Oscar-winning actress-producer. “I’m here to buy, um, more gray sack dresses,” she said. “So, uh… what is this? People really watch this show?”
Melissa Villaseñor also appeared as Icelandic singing sensation Björk, but Musk made a greater impression as an interrupting producer who repeatedly asks Ooli to be his girlfriend. “I have a little bit of money, but I have lots of drugs and ponies.

“The guy that makes the Earth better kinda and makes cool things and sends people to Mars?” the comedian says
The announcement that Tesla CEO Elon Musk will be hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week has drawn backlash from viewers and cast members alike. But Pete Davidson ain’t one of them.
“I don’t know why people are freaking out,” Davidson said in a “Late Night With Seth Meyers” appearance, “”They’re like, ‘Oh I can’t believe that Elon Musk is hosting!’ And I’m like, ‘The guy that makes the Earth better kinda and makes cool things and sends people to Mars?”
As of his conversation with Meyers, Davidson had not yet met Musk but said he planned to have dinner with the billionaire and “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels later that night. “I’m really excited, man,” he said. “I’m gonna ask him for like a...

Kate McKinnon is one of six creative leaders in comedy honored for Variety‘s 2021 Power of Women. For more, click here.
Kate McKinnon is exceedingly uninhibited, unselfconscious and brazen in her spot-on, wacky impressions of everyone from Robert Durst, Betsy DeVos and Justin Bieber to Dr. Anthony Fauci, Jeff Sessions and Rudy Giuliani. It makes it somewhat surprising that the Emmy-winning “Saturday Night Live” star is quite the opposite offstage.
“People are often confused when they meet me because I’m soft-spoken and pensive. I am extraordinarily introverted,” says McKinnon.
The comedian actually began speaking in character voices at age 10 to relieve her social anxiety. “I found I was more easily able to communicate with people doing a funny voice,” she says, conceding, “I found it was a way to share joy and to bring a sense of fun and community in a way that I had trouble doing just in my own voice.

“Saturday Night Live” is fielding major criticism for its choice to tap Tesla owner and technocratic billionaire Elon Musk as host, and this time, the call is coming from inside the house. On April 24, NBC announced that Musk would host “Saturday Night Live” on May 8 alongside musical guest Miley Cyrus. While mainstream outlets applauded the headline-grabbing choice, apparently with no thought as to whether or not a CEO is the best choice for a comedy show, backlash to the choice brewed quickly.
Many comedians shared confusion about the choice on social media, including a few of the actual “SNL” cast members who will have to work with him. Though the posts disappeared almost as quickly as they circulated, the screenshots remain. In addition to a general bland stiffness and complete lack of comedy experience, a few expressed thinly veiled disapproval of Musk’s political alignments at a time when wealth...
