CBS News has hired Rhona Tarrant to serve as executive editor of CBS News Confirmed, its new verification and fact-checking initiative.
Tarrant, who will start on April 1, has worked with the Google News Initiative and Storyful to train journalists on identifying misinformation and disinformation. She will report to Claudia Milne, senior vice president for CBS News and Stations and head of standards and practices.
The network announced CBS News Confirmed last year as a venture to identify Ia generated deepfakes and misinformation. Journalists in the unit use data and technology to verify and fact-check videos and reports.

CBS News Confirmed, to be led by Claudia Milne and Ross Dagan, will produce segments on the findings of a team of journalists who will analyze the content.
Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations, wrote in a memo to staffers that the venture “represents an investment in several key areas, including hiring forensic journalists, expanded training by Standards and Practices, and new, state-of-the-art technology.” She said that jobs will be posted in the coming days.

The unit will be called “CBS News Confirmed” and will be led by senior vice president for CBS News and Stations Claudia Milne, and executive vice president and head of news operations and transformation for CBS News and Stations Ross Dagan.

However, Miri is also not talking to her mother Caroline (Geraldine James) after finding out she had an affair with Miri’s ex-boyfriend Dom (Jamie Michie). Christine Bottomley also stars as Miri’s best friend, Mandy.

CBS This Morning has made three key staff additions under the morning news program’s new leadership. Shanta Fripp has been promoted to director of CBS This Morning, Claudia Milne has joined as managing editor and Jon Tower has been elevated to senior broadcast producer, the position previously held by executive producer Diana Miller prior to her promotion to the top role last spring.
Fripp, who joined CBS in 2001 as an assistant in the market research department, has won two Emmys for her work on the network’s morning program. Previously, she was the director of CBS This Morning: Saturday.
Milne comes to CBS News from ProPublica where she was the senior editor of video. Her projects included ProPublica’s first full length documentary, Unprotected, which recently won a Murrow Award. Before that, she was the head of Global TV at Bloomberg. Milne also worked for nearly two decades at the BBC.
