- He speaks Danish, Swedish, English and German.
- Older brother of Mads Mikkelsen. Lars is about one and a half years older than Mads.
- In a formal ceremony, which took place on February 7, 2011, Lars was awarded the "Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog", by the Danish Queen, Margrethe II.
