Australian actor, television producer and director Esben Storm has passed away in Melbourne, at age 60. Part of the burgeoning arts scene in Australia, Storm made his debut feature in 1974 with the politically-minded 27A, which delved into the Australian mental health system. Based on a true story, the film followed a middle-aged alcoholic (Robert McDarra) who after being sentenced to six weeks in prison, becomes trapped in a bureaucratic nightmare. A crackling start to Storm's career, 27A won the AFI for Best Film and also nabbed McDarra the AFI Award for Best Actor. In 1978, Storm established his own production house, Storm Productions, and the same year he made his second feature with the acclaimed road movie, In Search of Anna (pictured).
