- I don't think you can avoid expressing yourself through what you do. Take the example of even a rotten, hack director. His films are dishonest and pretentious. Yet they're a perfect expression of what he is. Because he made them. And you see him through them. He's a false person. If he were a more open and real person, more honest with himself, he would make good films instead of bad films.
