The Unfolding by A.M. Homes (UTA)
After Barack Obama’s election, a group of wealthy, powerful Republicans gather to devise a plan to stop the country’s progressive momentum. The scenario is fictional, but Homes’ vision in The Unfolding is so cannily crafted, it feels like peering into a top-secret world.
People Person by Candice Carty-Williams (42Mp)
This boisterous novel from the author of the beloved 2019 debut Queenie revolves around a group of half siblings connected by an absent, highly idiosyncratic father. A spontaneous reunion could be the springboard for a tender, laugh-out-loud miniseries.

James Mtume, a percussionist who performed in Miles Davis’ seminal fusion band from 1971 to 1975 and later had hits with his own eponymous group, has died at the age 76.
The daughter of Mtume’s late creative partner Reggie Lucas, Lisa Lucas, took to Twitter this morning to confirm the passing of the musician.
“So much loss. So much grief. Rest in power to Uncle Mtume. My late fathers partner in crime, the co-creator of the songs of my life (and about my birth!). He was essential part of the life of the man who made me, therefore me too. Gone now. He will be dearly, eternally missed,” Lucas wrote.
There is no cause of death at the time of reporting.
Mtume appeared on 80 albums with a wide variety of other notable musicians, including Duke Ellington, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Roberta Flack and Lonnie Liston Smith.
His namesake group Mtume had several No.

Talk about a film whose time has come … Paul Mazursky’s ode to womanly liberation takes a sensible, gentle approach. Yes, the husband was a total jerk, and so is the first man Jill Clayburgh’s Erica turns to in need. What’s more important is the feeling of empowerment on the personal intimate level: it’s okay for a woman to have personal priorities; it’s okay to decline commitment to the whims and wishes of a male companion. Forty-two years later, the premise holds — especially the film’s emphasis on social support from one’s friends.

Everyone who has seen Grease remembers Annette Charles' role as Cha Cha. Charles passed away Wednesday at the age of 63.
Lisa Lucas, a producer at ReelzChannel, knew Charles and shared some stories about the actress who went on to become a professor and social worker.
Charles started out as a dancer in the musical scene in New York City. Being half Chicano and half Italian, she pursued the few ethnic roles that were available at the time.
She had to really fight hard to be seen but she was really talented and kept going.
After starring in Broadway plays like West Side Story, Charles went to L.A. to pursue acting. She quickly got parts in some sitcoms but she got her big break when she was cast as Cha Cha in Grease.
