Rob Liefeld is best known as the creator of Deadpool and Cable. And while we have recently talked about his involvement with the Avengelyne project, Deadpool and Wolverine is coming out soon and the Merc with the Mouth is once again the talking point of the comic book fandom, which makes absolute sense. But, while this article is going to be related to Liefeld’s work on the Deadpool movie with Disney, it is a more personal matter than something that is directly related to the movie itself. Namely, as it turns out, Liefeld had some trouble with Disney related to finances and he decided to share them with the public.
Knowing that Disney has been experiencing losses in recent months, it doesn’t actually surprise us that finances are a controversial topic for them at this moment, which indicates that the rumors about Disney being in trouble are quite probably true,...

Many comic book writers and artists have clashed with Disney and Marvel Studios in recent years, specifically concerning how much they're compensated for their creations appearing in movies and TV shows.
For example, it was back in 2017 that we learned the legendary Jim Starlin had made more money from Anatoli Knyyazev's (KGBeast on the page) blink-and-you'd-miss-it appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice than Thanos, Drax, and Gamora's lead roles in the MCU.
Now, it appears writer and artist Rob Liefeld is having similar issues with the House of Mouse.
"My reps were screamed at today 'We are Not Fox!' Tell me about it. Also hung up on. More soon," he teased on X yesterday evening. Liefeld later added, "The big corps. seek to intimidate in all manner of ways, the little guys are always tasked with continuing to press forward despite the screaming."
Despite Liefeld remaining frustratingly vague,...

Last week, I shared a fairly long list of 15 Things That You Probably Don't Know About Wolverine. I had so much fun with it that I decided to focus on Deadpool this week, albeit on a somewhat smaller scale.
Deadpool, also known as Wade Wilson, debuted in 1991's "New Mutants" #98. Created by writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Rob Liefeld, Deadpool quickly gained popularity due to his unique combination of dark humor, relentless violence, and a penchant for breaking the fourth wall.
Over the years, he has become a staple in the Marvel Universe, appearing in numerous comic books, animated series, and blockbuster movies. His irreverent attitude and complex personality have endeared him to fans worldwide. Here are five obscure facts about Deadpool that even hardcore fans might not be aware of!

There's been chatter for years about singer/songwriter Taylor Swift joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yesterday evening, one scooper went so far as to claim she's had a "good meeting" with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to discuss her joining the franchise.
Swift, who has become nothing short of a global phenomenon in recent years, is no stranger to acting and has even stepped behind the camera to direct. With that in mind - and the singer's immense popularity - it's no great shock that Marvel Studios is interested in working with her.
The question now is, who should she play? Many of the McU's biggest roles have already been cast and, given how successful Swift is as a writer and recording artist, we don't anticipate her signing any nine-picture movie deals!
In this feature, we explore some of the most exciting and realistic possibilities for Swift's MCU role. To check them out,...

Arriving right in time for the Merc with the Mouth's return to the big screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, Rob Liefeld returns with his final Wade Wilson saga this August: Deadpool Team-Up.
The five-issue series will serve as the legendary writer and artist's final blockbuster story; no one captures the Merc with the Mouth's lovable insanity like Liefeld, and in classic Deadpool fashion, Wade is holding nothing back in this latest round of unbridled action and high-stakes adventure.
In addition to featuring Deadpool’s supporting cast - from his fan-favourite allies to deadly enemies and everyone in between - Deadpool Team-Up also sees Wade assemble a crew that's wild even by his standards.
When you need some hired hands, Deadpool is your man. However, when the Merc with a Mouth needs assistance, he's got friends (and frenemies) from across the Marvel Universe. In the series, we'll watch as Liefeld weaves...

X-Men comics have always been about the future. They are, after all, stories about mutants, the next stage in human evolution. The central tension dividing Professor Charles Xavier and his best friend Magneto is how to go into that future, either working with humanity or ruling them.
X-Men comics have also always been very, very confusing, with their frequent tales of clones, shape-changers, and alternate realities.
Given those two facts, it’s no wonder that X-Men creators would embrace time travel as a storytelling conceit, throwing Marvel’s Merry Band of Mutants far into the future or launching them deep into the past. The results vary, but these fifteen tales represent the best, and sometimes most headache inducing, of the X-Men’s adventures across time.

From co-directing the pulse-pounding John Wick and seamlessly transitioning to headlining major projects like Deadpool 2, David Leitch’s trajectory in the film is nothing short of remarkable. Playing Brad Pitt’s stunt double in a number of movies, including Fight Club, Leitch began his career in Hollywood as a stunt and fight coordinator.
Needless to say, his enlightening journey with his producer wife, Kelly McCormick, is just as enchanting as the films they make. Not so recently, when the dynamic duo spilled the beans about the casting experience of Deadpool 2, including the role that Brad Pitt almost graced, we got a rare glimpse into the ‘what-ifs’.

In a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Leitch and McCormick admitted the fact that Pitt nearly played the role of Cable in Deadpool 2.

X-Men ’97 is already nailing everything and scoring an eternal place in its viewers’ hearts, with more than 90% of audiences and nearly 100% of critics impressed by the immaculate way this story has been helmed. Plus, this saga doesn’t seem to want to stop anytime soon, because it already has a season 2 greenlit while the first one still airs, meaning there’s more peak entertainment incoming.
X-Men ’97.
That being said, this peak entertainment could also bring about the possible event of the mutant superheroes fending off against the earth’s mightiest heroes, i.e. the Avengers. And while that is yet to be officially confirmed, Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Professor X in this animated series, has ignited the hope of that happening, nonetheless, with some really relatable reasoning.
X-Men vs The Avengers? Could Happen, Says Ross Marquand
[Warning: Don’t read ahead if you haven’t watched X-Men ’97 but are planning to watch it. Spoilers ahead of the same.

Have you ever given thought, to which of Steven Spielberg’s works could unite the creative minds behind X-Men ’97 and the very creator of Deadpool? Not to give away too much of the suspense, but it is none other than the dark and cerebral science fiction drama Minority Report.
The film, starring Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell, was so brilliantly shot and inventive that even Deadpool’s Rob Liefeld, who ranked it among his three best Spielberg experiences, tweeted his admiration for it. Liefeld empathized with those who found the film “too dark”, a sentiment shared in his circles at the time of its release.

Yet, in a harmonious agreement tagged with insights and nostalgia, X-Men ’97 writer Beau DeMayo chimes in with a solid “hands down agree”.

Has there ever been a more bonkers superhero than Deadpool? Equal parts violent and zany, this lethal mercenary, also known as the "Merc with a Mouth," first appeared in the "New Mutants" comic series in December 1990, albeit as a villain. Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) went on to star in his own mini-series. He eventually gained notoriety for his dark humor, meta-commentary, and affinity for breaking the fourth wall. Over the years, Deadpool has teamed up with or battled alongside Marvel's hero gallery and has since become one of the brand's most popular characters. In fact, according to Gitnux Marketdata Report, he's the most liked character on Facebook. So take that, Iron Man!

New footage for Deadpool & Wolverine has hit the web, thanks to an IMAX exclusive trailer, which seemingly draws a connection to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. Set to be the next major leap in MCU’s multiversal saga, it’s safe to assume that the upcoming threequel will feature a plethora of cameos and homages to other Marvel properties under Disney’s umbrella.
While it’ll be interesting to see if Tobey Maguire will end up being one of the major Marvel stars to appear in Deadpool 3, the new trailer does seem to incorporate reference to his iconic trilogy.

“You’ve been making women feel bad about themselves since you were invented,” the hip teen Sasha (Ariana Greenblatt) tells the stereotypical Barbie standing before her. “You represent everything wrong with our culture: sexualized capitalism, unrealistic physical ideals.” Stereotypical Barbie is horrified: “No, no, no, you’re describing something stereotypical,” she insists.
Margot Robbie spent much of Barbie proving why the doll she portrayed wasn’t the sexist object that girls like Sasha see. The Aussie actor has a much more difficult task ahead of her if she’s going to do the same thing in her upcoming project Avengelyne. Avengelyne is an American comic book series that, despite the fact that it never became a mainstream work, became a fantasy cult classic title that many fans remember quite dearly. The series was created by Rob Liefeld and Cathy Christian, and focuses on Avengelyne, an angel who has to fight the forces of evil and is one of the most prominent female comic book heroines outside the mainstream universes. Avengelyne #1, the first issue of the series, appeared in May 1995, and the most recent iteration of the comic book ended in 2012. We have recently reported that a film adaptation of the comic is in the works, and we have now received some interesting new info about the project.
We reported earlier that Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap production company acquired the rights to a cinematic adaptation, with Olivia Wilde eyed to direct. Robbie herself was initially attached simply as a producer, but...

Olivia Wilde will direct and Margot Robbie will star in an adaptation of comic book Avengelyne, it’s been announced.
Comic book writer Rob Liefeld’s biggest success is undoubtably Deadpool, which Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick brought to the screen to huge critical and commercial success – Deadpool And Wolverine, which sees Hugh Jackman reprise his iconic role, will be released in UK cinemas on the 26th July. You can watch the trailer here.
Warner Bros is now very close to closing a deal on another of Liefeld’s comics, Avengelyne. Furthermore, Margot Robbie – as you probably gleaned from the cunning headline to this piece – is circling the lead role.
The synopsis reads as follows:

We recently got word that a live-action movie based on Rob Liefeld's fantasy/horror comic series Avengelyne was in development, and we have some exciting updates courtesy of Deadline.
As previously reported, the project will be directed by Olivia Wilde (Don't Worry Darling), with LuckyChap, the company Margot Robbie runs with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, and Simon Kinberg, on board to produce. Now, we've learned that Warner Bros is negotiating to close a seven-figure film-rights deal for the movie, and Poor Things scribe Tony McNamara has signed on to pen the script.
The trade also confirmed that Robbie is interested in playing the title role, but it sounds like her decision will be script-dependent.
An earlier version of the movie was in the works back in 2013, with former The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano attached to star.

Wilde, who previously directed Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling, will be directing the film, with Robbie producing through her company LuckyChap – and there’s a chance that she’ll end up playing the title character as well, although her reps were denying that at the time of the earlier report. Now Deadline has broken the news that the Avengelyne project has landed at Warner Bros., with the studio negotiating to close a seven figure film rights deal. It makes sense that WB wanted it, since they just had a $1.4 billion success with Robbie and LuckyChap’s Barbie.

Olivia Wilde and Margot Robbie‘s LuckyChap are teaming up for Avengelyne, and Warner Bros is currently negotiating a 7 figure deal for the rights.
If you don’t know, Avengelyne is a comic book character created by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld. According to Variety, she’s “an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters.”
According to several reports, Olivia Wilde would direct the film with LuckyChap’s Margot, Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara producing. One report from Deadline suggests that Margot could also star, pending the script from Poor Things writer Tony McNamara. That is not being widely reported at this time, so stay tuned for more casting news.
Margot and Olivia previously co-starred in 2022′s Babylon together.

The next installment of the long lasting Marvel Cinematic Universe has a lot of pressure behind it. Not only is this the first time the X-Men series will be brought into the MCU after being at 20th Century Fox for two decades, but the previous year’s films were seen as either disappointments or outright failures.
With the film only a couple months away the film is reportedly getting some last minute reshoots to try and make sure all of the pieces fall into place. Marvel is under a lot of pressure to try and save the MCU from disaster and the third Deadpool film may be the one to save it.
Some fans believe the reshoots might incorporate more cameos than they were able to before. Whether that is true or not, we are already expected to have a bunch of Marvel cameos from across the multiverse.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is certainly one of the releases this year that is meant to kickstart great things. First, the movie is Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU, something that fans have been asking for, well, since the MCU existed. Second, it’s part of a new strategy that aims to restore at least some of the faith that fans had in the franchise and in the studio.
Everything from cameos to jokes and action has been designed with fans in mind, it’s definitely a sign that MCU is starting to realize that a lot of projects don’t equal happy fans, especially if the quality of writing and acting, in general, are on a subpar level. This is why ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the only Marvel Studios cinematic release this year so that fans can be sure that profits are not always a priority.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is poised to be a significant release this year, marking Deadpool’s debut in the MCU, a moment long-awaited by fans. Additionally, it forms part of a new strategy aimed at restoring fans’ confidence in the franchise and the studio.
Every aspect of the movie, from the cameos to the humor and action, has been carefully crafted with fans in mind. This indicates that the MCU is recognizing the importance of quality over quantity, ensuring that fan satisfaction remains a top priority. As the only Marvel Studios cinematic release this year, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ underscores the studio’s commitment to prioritizing fan enjoyment over profits.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is easily one of the best physiques that the world of entertainment has witnessed. While many actors have bulked up for their roles, Jackman’s dedication has been more remarkable due to his growing age with each successive appearance. Having portrayed the character for more than 20 years now, Jackman looks magnificent in the latest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, to say the least.

Yet, there have been some trolls who cannot believe that the actor is as jacked as he looks, leading to the impression that he might be wearing fake muscles (!?). Coming to his defense is the Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, who recently tweeted that the muscles are one hundred percent real and that he had touched them.

The comic book community was almost astonished when Ryan Reynolds first disclosed on social media that Hugh Jackman would be playing Wolverine in Shawn Levy’s Deadpool 3. Though it was thought unlikely following Logan’s conclusion, there was discussion about Jackman possibly reprising his iconic role as Wolverine. It was not a huge deal either if he would not have returned, because that movie’s ending exceeded all expectations.

Deadpool 3, on the other hand, is the perfect movie for reinvigorating Jackman’s character without interfering with the 20th Century Fox X-Men universe. Even the man behind creating the character of Deadpool declared that the third flick is set to be one of the best comic book movies of all time, rivaling even the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest hits.

The new trailer of the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine was released earlier this week. The trailer gives a full glimpse of Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine and sees him team up with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. The film would be a multiversal story, with Wolverine dealing with ‘letting down his world’ and the mission helping him get over it.
To add to the hype, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld took to his social media to appreciate the film. Having already seen it, the comic book creator compared the action sequences to that of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and even teased that the film would be one of the ‘best comic book films of all time’.

If you're not examining every single new detail in the freshly released "Deadpool & Wolverine" trailer, then can you really call yourself a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The movie is bringing the raunchy Merc with a Mouth into the MCU for the first time, and Ryan Reynolds gets to keep his R-rated naughtiness, marking a major first for Marvel Studios. Joining him is Hugh Jackman, reprising his beloved role as Wolverine for the first time since the character met his moving fate in "Logan," though it might be a version of Wolverine we've never met before. But there are bound to be many more mutants and Marvel characters joining in the fun as well.
However, no matter how big of a Marvel movie fan you might be, unless you're also a Marvel Comics fan, there's a brilliant Easter egg you possibly missed.

"Invincible" season 2 just wrapped (read our review here). While the long gap after season 1 slowed down the excitement, the second season kept the show's quality soaring higher than a Viltrumite.
"Invincible" may stream on Prime Video, but its origin story lies at Image Comics. Image was founded in 1992 as counter-programming to the Marvel/DC comics duopoly; the founders included '90s comic superstars like Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, and Jim Lee (the man who rebranded the X-Men for the '90s). The "I" on Invincible's costume? It doesn't just stand for "Invincible," but "Image" too.
At Marvel and DC, the publishers own the characters and cycle out writers/artists at the popular ones. Image, on the other hand, specializes in creator-owned comics where writers and artists retain authority. That's why "Invincible" was personally created by Robert Kirkman, author of the comics. Forget Booksmart – actor-director Olivia Wilde is about to get comic-book-smart. In an unexpected but not at all unwelcome turn of events, the Don't Worry Darling filmmaker is, according to THR, set to bring Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld's cult '90s comic series Avengelyne to the big screen. And what's more, Margot Robbie — no stranger to a superhero movie or two herself — is also aboard, and will co-produce alongside Deadpool writer-producer Simon Kinberg under her LuckyChap banner.
Now, we know what you're thinking: "Who the heck is Avengelyne? An avenger? An angel?" Well try avenging angel and you're just about there. Created by Liefeld and the appropriately-named Cathy Christian, Avengelyne debuted in Avengelyne: Deadly Sins #1 in 1995. An angel cast out of heaven for questioning God's love of humanity, Avengelyne uses her divine powers — super strength, regenerative healing, necromancy, the odd holy sword, and, err, miraculous blood — to fight demons on...

Whatever happened to actor-turned-filmmaker Olivia Wilde directing a “Spider-Man” spin-off, rumored to be a Jessica Drew “Spider-Woman” film? Well, it’s unclear if it will ever happen, and it’s clearly not anywhere on the release date schedule. But perhaps in a sign that she still intends to make some kind of superhero film centered around women, she’s signed a deal to partner with producer Simon Kinberg and Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap productions to make a live-action adaptation of Rob Liefeld’s “Avengelyne” comic series (via THR).

You might not know it because it is not a mainstream comic book title, but Avengelyne is undoubtedly a fantasy cult classic that many fans will remember dearly. Created by Rob Liefeld and Cathy Christian, Avengelyne is an angel who has to fight the forces of evil and is one of the most prominent female comic book heroines outside the mainstream universes. Avengelyne #1 appeared in May 1995, and the most recent iteration of the comic book ended in 2012. Now, in April 2024, there are reports that an Avengelyne movie is in the works with some major names attached.
Avengelyne is a very special character with a very interesting story. Author Rob Liefeld once described her like this: “Avengelyne resonated so powerfully with the audience because her story of redemption is one that is so relatable. A fallen angel, sentenced to redeem herself by serving humanity, Earth is a foreign environment to her,...

Olivia Wilde’s comic book action film Avengelyne is picking up the sword with Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap production company along for the ride.
