What if Juliet not only survived William Shakespeare's timeless tragedy, but went on to live for centuries as a vampire? Would she ever find true love again? That's the question filmmaker Ronnie Khalil seeks to answer in his new movie With a Kiss I Die. Ahead of the vampiric romance's August 28th release from Gravitas Ventures, we caught up with Khalil in our latest Q&A feature to discuss filming on the islands of Greece, adding his own twist to one of history's most popular literary characters, and overcoming the unexpected obstacles of a cast member's heart attack and bloodthirsty leeches.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Ronnie. How and when did you and your co-writers come up with the story for With a Kiss I Die?
Ronnie Khalil: Believe it or not, this film was originally conceived as a My Fair Lady-type...

Two years after we last reported on the film, the horror-comedy You Can't Kill Stephen King is making its way to DVD on December 9th.
The film was written by Monroe Mann, Ronnie Khalil, and Bob Madia and was directed by Mann, Khalil, and Jorge Valdes-Iga. The cast includes Crystal Arnette, Kayle Blogna, Kate Costello, and Justin Brown.
One summer, a group of friends make a clueless and ill-fated decision to visit the lake where horror author Stephen King lives. Upon arrival, they are greeted by unfriendly townspeople who hate noise and tom-foolery almost as much as they hate uninvited guests and questions about their most famous resident.

In early 2012, I saw the trailer for a campy movie called You Can’t Kill Stephen King about a group of young people vacationing near the author’s summer home who get killed off one at a time. The trailer promises a horror movie that breaks all the rules…by not breaking any. The project is described in tongue-in-cheek fashion: six stereotypical characters with weak story arcs, a town full of overacting antagonists, low-budget gratuitous violence and cheesy King references.
The nucleus of the story was written several years ago by Monroe Mann—an alumnus of the Fryeburg Academy in western Maine, whose staff was also involved in the production—and stand-up comedian Ronnie Khalil while they were vacationing in the lake house ultimately used in the film. Co-writer Bob Madia helped complete the script—he contributed much of the King lore and references. Mann and Khalil co-produced and team-directed with cinematographer Jorge Valdés-Iga,...

Stephen King has long been a staple in the horror genre, penning such box office hits as The Shining, Carrie, Apt Pupil, and many more. But on Saturday, a new film premieres that immortalizes Mr. King, making him not only the subject of the film but possibly one of its killers.
You Can’t Kill Stephen King is a campy indie horror flick about a group of friends that vacation near a lake where Mr. King lives, and begin to get killed off one at a time in ways from his books.
The friends must piece together a string of clues to stop the copy-cat killer, or risk falling victim themselves.
The film is the brainchild of Monroe Mann and Ronnie Khalil, an attorney/Iraq vet and a stand-up comedian respectively, who came up with the idea during a rainy day at the very lake they shot the film. Check...
