We dig deep into the Doctor Who Christmas special, Twice Upon A Time...
One Doctor dying at Christmas is unfortunate, but two? That’s just cruel. They’re certainly going out on a high though, at least judging by the number of references and callbacks in the episode. It’s our longest one ever, so grab a mince pie, raid the spirits cupboard and join us for our traditional festive viewing notes.

Return to Snowcap
We kick off proceedings with footage from William Hartnell’s final serial The Tenth Planet, which aired from 8-29th October 1966 and was also notable for the introduction of the Cybermen – specifically the ‘Mondasian’ variety last seen in Series 10 finale The Doctor Falls.

Take three 80s TV stars, a generous dash of Dungeons & Dragons and a healthy sprinkling of brain-numbing tasks and you have a game show recipe that left guests mystified, mortified and all-too-often vaporised, thanks to transmorphic dragons, green cheese rolls and the Vortex. Yep, we've finally got around to talking about The Adventure Game.
It’s funny how you never seemed to question TV concepts when you were little, especially if it was the BBC.

That’s why, from mid-way through 1980 up until 1986, no one asked why the likes of Keith Chegwin, Sarah Greene, and Noel Edmonds would suddenly become celebrity time travellers, heading ‘many light years away to the far side of the galaxy’ to pay an unwelcome visit to the dragon-like Argons, the polite but mischievous inhabitants of the planet Arg.

The BBC has denied claims that it is planning to axe the Blue Peter garden after 34 years. Yesterday, a tabloid newspaper reported that the famous plot would be scrapped when the long-running children's show moves from London to Manchester in 2011. It was also claimed that producers wanted to introduce an online replacement for the existing garden, which was first unveiled by hosts Peter Purves, John Noakes and Lesley Judd in 1974. However, a Blue Peter spokeswoman told Digital Spy last night that plans are being made (more)...

The BBC has reportedly announced that it is scrapping the Blue Peter garden after 35 years. The famous plot is expected to be axed in favour of an online replacement after the long-running children's show makes its move from London to Manchester in 2011. Keith Beal, who is overseeing the move up north, told the News Of The World: "We think it's time the garden moved into the future and became a virtual garden." The existing Blue Peter garden was first unveiled by hosts Peter Purves, John Noakes and Lesley Judd in 1974. It has since been used regularly for features on the programme. It is believed that the new internet garden will feature (more)...

The great man himself Peter Purves has written a book - Here's One I Wrote Earlier. Set to be serialised in The Daily Mail, get set for revelations about the former Doctor Who and Blue Peter star's sexual liaisons throughout the 1960s and 1970s! I dare not speak any further, suffice to say that Mr Purves possibly had relations with the lovely Lesley Judd, not to mention coming clean about Valerie Singleton's revelation about her "Big Sexual Experience" with Peter. As for the...
