- Elizabeth James has been a writer for Wow! (Compuserv for children), a website reviewer for Excite.com, a new media instructor for the UCLA Extension Writers Program, and has published numerous non-fiction informational books for children.
- Co-authored a number of suspense novels, with collaborator Carol Barkin, and published under the name "Beverly Hastings".
- In August 1967, she was in San Antonio on a promotional tour for her debut film, Born Losers. She was visiting the Alamo and was approached by a teenage fan who had seen the movie in their nearby hometown. James said it was her first autograph signing and she was nervous.
