A 22-year-old man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with murder in Sunday's fatal shooting of Auburn football player Jakell Lenard Mitchell, police said. After being missing for almost a day, police identified the body of 26-year-old former Auburn Tigers basketball player Korvotney Barber in Panama City Beach, Fla. Police believe he died by drowning, but the official cause of death has not been confirmed.
Barber went missing at around 7 pm on July 20, and his body wasn't discovered until around 3:49 p.m. on the 21. He was located between Boardwalk Beach Resort Condominiums and Top Gulf Condos.
"Been confirmed that Korvotney Barber's body has been found.The Auburn Family has lost a good man.My condolences go out to his family.Rip #32," current Auburn coach Tony Barbee tweets.
During his time at Auburn University from 2005 to 2009, Barber became the second McDonald's All-American in the program's history. His was All-sec second team during his final season with the team, and then went on to play overseas for two years. He averaged 10.8 points and 7.2 rebounds during his college years.
