Hollywood spent the weekend paying tribute to Roger Corman, the independent filmmaking legend who died last Thursday at age 98.
Corman, known during his time as the “King of the B’s,” was a beloved producer and director who helped boost careers for names such as Jack Nicholson, Ron Howard, Peter Bogdanovich, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Jonathan Demme, Gale Anne Hurd and James Cameron.
“He was generous, open-hearted and kind to all those who knew him,” Corman’s family said in a statement. “When asked how he would like to be remembered, he said, ‘I was a filmmaker, just that.’”
In response to news of Corman’s death, many who knew and worked with the filmmaker paid tribute to him online. “A great movie maker and mentor,” Howard wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “When I was 23 he gave me my 1st shot at directing. He launched many careers & quietly lead our industry in important ways.

The Hollywood filmmaking community remembered Roger Corman today as a man who had a “can-do” attitude about making movies. Along the way, he touched many lives, blazing a path for newcomers to enter the business and others to keep the lights on through his relentless drive to produce films.
Amid that hustle, he was remembered as a kind man who had a passion for what he did.
Here are some of the reactions:
Robert De Niro:
“ I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Roger. He started many of us over the years. He was a legend. May he rest in peace.”
Roger Corman was my very first boss, my lifetime mentor and my hero. Roger was one of the greatest visionaries in the history of cinema. I am absolutely devastated by his loss and send my love and deepest condolences to the Corman family. #Rip #RogerCorman pic.

All seven seasons of ABC’s Once Upon a Time will start streaming on Hulu Sept. 1. The fairytale drama has been streaming exclusively on Disney+ since it left Netflix; it will now be shared by the two Disney entertainment platforms.
Exclusivity, considered paramount in the early stages of the streaming wars, has taken a back seat to media companies’ push for additional revenue and profitability. The strategy shift has led to original HBO series streaming on Netflix, for example, with NBCUniversal’s Suits also finding its way to the global streamer.
At Disney, there has been increasing cross-pollination between previously walled-up Disney+ and Hulu.
The Simpsons, which started streaming exclusively on Disney+ at launch, also has a couple of seasons available on Hulu.

While the ’90s saw the rise of pop punk, Dfl sought to return to the fast and raw sounds of the ’80s, when hardcore orginated. Monty Messex, who had previously been in The Atoms, recalled the formation of the side project in a statement.

When the Writers Guild strike began on May 2, it wasn’t just union members trying to anticipate what a months-long work stoppage might mean.
A number of industry and writer-adjacent organizations on both coasts had already begun discussions about the work stoppage’s potential impact in the weeks before negotiations between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers ended on May 1 without a deal. With the memory of the three months it took to reach a deal during the last Hollywood writers’ strike in 2007-2008 on the mind, industry and entertainment-adjacent organizations were on alert.
The challenge, a few tell The Hollywood Reporter, wasn’t whether they’d respond, but to what needs, when and for how long alongside what the WGA was already offering its striking members.

The Once Upon a Time episode, "Beauty," did more than just tell the end of Rumple and Belle's story and explain (at least partly) how Rumple ended up in the cursed land of Hyperion Heights. "Beauty" was also fans' first proper introduction to the new Alice, even if it was mostly through her cursed persona, Tilly. Evidently, though, "Beauty" is just the beginning for Alice because in an interview with TVLine, executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz promised "epic" plans for the character.

Is “Once Upon a Time” channeling Donald Trump with its Season 7 antagonist? The ABC drama kicked off its latest run last week with a premiere that introduced viewers to Victoria Belfrey (Gabrielle Anwar), the alter ego of Cinderella’s stepmother who threatens to close down Roni’s (Lana Parrilla) bar in the present day. Series co-creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke to TheWrap about whether they intended for the villainous Victoria to have any parallels to the real-estate mogul who currently occupies the Oval Office. “The show is not attempting to mirror current events in any direct way,” Horowitz said.

Change is never easy. That's a given. But big change is coming to Once Upon a Time when it returns for season seven on Friday, Oct. 6. And not everyone's thrilled about it. All summer long, talk about the long-running ABC fantasy series has centered around the decision by co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis to give their show a major facelift. A majority of the cast, including star and one-half of the show's beloved central relationship Jennifer Morrison, did not receive new contracts. The sleepy town of Storybrooke, home to six seasons of inexplicable (and increasingly similar) curses, was being vacated in favor of the urban Seattle neighborhood Hyperion Heights. And the characters who were sticking around...

Once Upon a Time is "resetting" things for its seventh season -- a "requel," part reboot, part sequel, as executive producer Edward Kitsis called it -- and while there will be some familiar faces, they've been cursed with new identities. Series star Lana Parrilla and EPs Adam Horowitz and Kitsis teased what to expect at New York Comic-Con.
"It's due to the fans" they're back again, Kitsis said, revealing that the way last season ended is how they wanted to end the show. But since they love writing it and wanted to keep going, they've found a way to reenergize the storytelling, with the same spirit but in new directions.

However, they will still form some type of bond. Actor Andrew J. Ausiello: With It breaking box office records, I’m hearing rumblings that the Krista Vernoff-penned outing — which bears the Hamilton-esque title “Who Dies, Who Lives, Who Tells Your Story” — may feature a frightening, possibly dangerous clown.
Question: Will Sean Maguire be coming back to Once Upon a Time? —Sara
Ausiello: “Never say never, but… not in the immediate run of episodes,” Adam Horowitz told us when we delivered your question.

This person will also play a very prominent role in the new season 7. With that type of description, it’s speculated that the character might even be a part of the main cast. There will not...

Moderator Yvette Nicole Brown shut down the fan, warning the passionate audience that negativity was going to be condoned.

Another day, another Twitter “fight” for Patton Oswalt and Meredith Salenger.
Just a few days ago, the duo exchanged faux-barbs in a series of good-humored tweets back and forth to each other. The “argument'” escalated quickly and Twitter users following the threads enjoyed every second of it.
And now the two are back at it again. This time, however, the string of banter began with one Twitter user posting a series of photos featuring a lego version of the couple’s “future wedding” at Hidden Heart Park.
@MeredthSalenger here's an attempt at something more traditional. @pattonoswalt 's hair needs a bit of work.
