- Professional dancer for 9 years in Australia and New Zealand. He was a member of several companies including Limbs Dance Co. and Black Grace Dance Co.
- Turned to performing arts after training as a teacher in physical education. He was also, for a while, like his father, a crayfisherman.
- Has walked the length of New Zealand (Long distance hiking trail: Te Araroa: 3000km+) to bring his fathers and brothers ashes back home and to raise money for charity in the walking season 2017/2018. Weekly podcast in Radio New Zealand about his journey.

- Born a 4th generation Stewart Islander, Bruce was a commercial crayfisherman, who at the age of 22yrs discovered contemporary dance & within a year had auditioned for a won a job as a full time professional contemporary dancer, which he did for 8yrs in New Zealand & Australia, before switching to acting at the age of 30yrs.
