New Delhi, Feb 2 (Ians) After the closing of the winter transfer window brought an end to a frantic month for all clubs in Laliga Santander, a look at some of the most interesting new faces in Spanish football.
Memphis Depay to Atletico de Madrid
Things are beginning to come together for Atletico de Madrid after a stop-start season, but one thing remains clear: they need to score more goals. Step forward Memphis Depay, who became a permanent signing from Fc Barcelona this month. He’ll bring goals, power and pace to lift Los Rojiblancos’ hopes of securing a top-four finish. Memphis can play up front or as a wide forward and can add some variance to Atleti’s attack. He also practically guarantees goals, having averaged more than one goal per two Laliga Santander starts with Fc Barcelona, after also proving prolific with Lyon while in Ligue 1. That’s not...

London, Feb.1 (Xinhua) There was plenty of activity on the last day of the transfer window in the Premier League, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham all making important signings.
Chelsea set a new English transfer record with the signing of Argentinean midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, paying his release clause of around 120 million euros.
The fee is around 10 times more than Benfica paid River Plate to buy the player, who was awarded the FIFA Young Player for the World Cup in Qatar, one year ago, although the Argentinean side will receive 25 per cent of the sell-on fee.
The move completes a hectic January for Chelsea, who have spent over 300 million euros in an attempt to strengthen their squad, reports Xinhua.

London, Jan 5 (Ians) Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur returned to form with a 4-0 win away to Crystal Palace and revived their chances of a top-four finish.
Palace were the better side in the first 45 minutes on Wednesday night, but failed to take their chances and were made to suffer when Kane netted in the 48th and 53rd minute to take the game almost out of reach.
Matt Doherty and Son Heung-min added further goals in the 68th and 72nd minutes to take some pressure off coach Antonio Conte, who had been criticized after recent poor results.
It was honours even in the game between two Spanish coaches, as Unai Emery’s Aston Villa came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Julen Lopetegui’s Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Guwahati, Oct 20 (Ians) East Bengal Fc broke their winless run against NorthEast United Fc in the Hero Indian Super League (Isl) with a comfortable 3-1 victory at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium here on Thursday.
A first-half goal from Cleiton Silva (11′), and second-half strikes from Charis Kyriakou (53′) and Jordan O’Doherty (84′) ensured the three points for East Bengal Fc, before Matt Doherty’s consolation goal (90+2′) opened NorthEast United’s goal account for the season.
Stephen Constantine made four changes to the East Bengal Fc lineup that lost 2-1 to Fc Goa. In the opposite dugout, Marco Balbul, who had now served his one-match suspension, had made one change to the lineup since the 3-0 loss to Hyderabad Fc by bringing Rochharzela into the starting XI.

Our faithful captain was nowhere to be seen as the original Ducks returned to town
(Warning: Slight spoilers ahead for this week’s episode of “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”)
This week’s episode of “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” gave those who grew up on the films exactly what they were looking for — the return of the original Ducks. Well, most of them at least. And, as great as it was seeing the former Ducks we did get, there was a notable absence: Charlie.
The episode brought the return of six original Ducks: Fulton Reed (Elden Henson), Adam Banks (Vinny La Russo), Kenny Wu (Justin Wong), Averman (Matt Doherty), Connie (Marguerite Moreau) and Guy (Garret Henson). They were all back to town for the Spirit of the Ducks gala, celebrating the history of the team.
Charlie Conway, played by Joshua Jackson, was the original captain of the Mighty Ducks.

Ducks fly together. It was true in the 90s, and it’s still true in the new Disney+ series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” — they’re just far more exclusive about who they’ll fly with now.
In this continuation, the Mighty Ducks are no longer the scrappy underdogs, and instead have become the “if you’re not a winner, you’re a loser” team. They’re led by Coach T (Dylan Playfair) who is blunt and apathetic, who cuts our new hero Evan Morrow from the team without so much as a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. He simply says “At this age, if you can’t be great at hockey, it’s like…don’t bother.
The kids on the team are all either high-strung or outright bullies. They’re the cool kids in school, and as soon as Evan is no longer one of them, he’s...

Gordon Bombay is back, but a lot has changed since we last caught up with him. The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will introduce a down-and-out Bombay who’s reached his low point living at the hockey rink he inherited from his mentor Hans. It’s a stark contrast to the smiling man we saw walking away from a cheering crowd in D3: The Mighty Ducks.
“He’s a little broken. He’s a little beat up by life, and he’s kind of hiding out,” Emilio Estevez, who reprises his role as Bombay on the Disney+ series (premiering this Friday), tells TVLine.

As Brill told EW, former cast members Elden Henson, Matt Doherty, Vincent Larusso, Marguerite Moreau, Garette Henson and Justin Wong will all be reprising their roles. Originally known as Hollows Grove, Orphanage: The Haunting at Hollows Grove (that’s one hell of a mouthful) was unceremoniously dumped onto DVD in the UK at the end of October – just in time for Halloween. I say dumped as this is yet another case of an interesting found-footage film (how often do I say that?!) being released with a new supermarket-friendly title and artwork. Artwork, may I add, which makes absolutely no mention that writer/director Craig Efros’s film features cameos from Lance Henriksen and Mykelti Williamson – talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face!
Enough about my supermarket-based complaints and on to the film itself. Orphanage follows a young filmmaker, Harold Maxwell, making a behind-the-scenes documentary on his...

Even the name “Hollows Grove” doesn’t sound like a pleasant place to visit.
In a found footage-style horror film, it follows a group of paranormal activity investigators into a haunted children’s hospital.
Here’s the full synopsis:
A young filmmaker, Harold Maxwell is filming a behind-the-scenes documentary about his friends - the Spirit and Paranormal Investigation Team, (S.P.I.T) and their ghost hunting reality show. Harold joins the S.P.I.T crew as they head out to their next assignment, to film an old, abandoned and supposedly haunted orphanage, Hollows Grove. Soon after arriving at the orphanage the team begins to realize that what they thought would be a routine investigation is turning in to a nightmare from which they can’t escape.

It's time to put a hold on this concept... A paranormal team set out for "one big job" or "a new episode of their show" only to encounter a real supernatural threat.

Manchester City had no real problems qualifying for the quarter finals of the Carling Cup, though they were a goal down to Wolves until the 37th minute. Nenad Milijas took the lead for City but goals from Adam Johnson, Samir Nasri, a Dorus De Vries own goal and two from Edin Dzeko put Mick McCarthy’s team in their place at the Molineux. Jamie O’Hara pulled one back for the hosts but they were ultimately outclassed on the night.
It was hardly going to be the most important game of Roberto Mancini’s reign as Manchester City manager, but he wasn’t going to turn down a chance for silverware and although the Carling Cup is perhaps not the most prestigious of titles it is not to be sniffed at either. What Is to be sniffed at though is Carlos Tevez’s apparent decision to sue the Italian manager for making him look bad.

(P.S. – I am a Newcastle United fan, so as always my match previews are bias and for the like minded);
Having ended a run of five Blackburn victories in a row at St James’ Park, Alan Pardew’s Newcastle go into today’s 3pm Premier League tie against Mick McCarthy’s Wolves at Molineux hoping to put an end to another unwanted hoodoo. Newcastle haven’t won on this ground since September 1958 (15 top flight attempts) and more often that not have found the Molineux a tough ground to take anything away from.
In last seasons 1-1 draw, Newcastle had to survive a barrage of military style assault challenges from the likes of Karl Henry (mostly aimed at his enemy Joey Barton!) to make it out alive after 90 minutes, let alone with any points but with the Scouser now enjoying life in London, perhaps we could be in something of a quieter affair this afternoon.

Charlie Adam's shot leading to the opening goal
Liverpool continued their revival from the heavy blow dealt out by Tottenham last Sunday, with a 2-1 win at home against Wolves.
A bizarre Roger Johnson own goal opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Charlie Adam’s fierce drive was headed onto the post and in by the former Birmingham defender.
Boosted by their early lead, Liverpool took a hold on the game and in the 38th minute a divine pass from Jose Enrique was met by Luis Suarez who twisted and turned in the box before firing past a helpless Wayne Hennessey.
Wolves made two changes at the break and one of them made an instant impact. In the 49th minute, Steven Fletcher latched on to a Steven Hunt cross and thumped the ball high into the net, past an outstretched Pepe Reina.
