WGA picket lines on the West Coast swelled Friday in response to the call from guild leaders for a strong turnout on the streets as labor and management negotiators gathered for a third consecutive day of talks aimed at ending the more than four-month-long strike.
In Hollywood, Netflix and Paramount saw big crowds of WGA and SAG-AFTRA pickets gathered by 9 a.m. The past week has been chock full of rumors spread by social media and private online and text channels that a deal is in the offing. In West Los Angeles, a typically large crowd made the rounds outside of Fox Studios.
Many WGA veterans urged caution at getting hopes too high for what may come out of the AMPTP negotiating room later today, after a third day of talks between labor and management that involved four CEOs.

The Movie: "Kevin Can F*** Himself
Where You Can Stream It: AMC+
The Pitch: How terrible it would be to be married to a man like Peter Griffin or the "King of Queens" himself, Doug Heffernan? That's what Valerie Armstrong set out to answer in her dramedy, "Kevin Can F*** Himself."
Annie Murphy plays Allison McRoberts, née Devine, a desperately unhappy woman in Worcester, Massachusetts. She works at a liquor store alongside her aunt Diane (Jamie Denbo) and is stuck in her dead-end marriage to Kevin (Eric Peterson). On top of being a stereotypical Masshole (he loves the Patriots and Dunkin more than his wife), Kevin is selfish, lazy, and prone to harebrained schemes. And yet, the universe itself loves him.

Kate Walsh is getting candid about returning to Grey's Anatomy.
The Addison Montgomery actress appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week and opened up about her return to the ABC medical drama.
"It's incredible to be back," Walsh gushed.
"But the younger set of actors who are the new set of interns, they grew up watching the show. You're like, 'Oh, hi!'"
"It's funny to be the elder statesman of the show. They're so beautiful, all of them are such great actors."
Walsh went on to credit her behind-the-scenes colleagues for keeping the show fresh.
"The writers, I mean, Krista Vernoff, Meg Marinis, all of them, Jamie Denbo... Krista is Shonda [Rhimes]'s right-hand woman, and they've been there since the beginning," Walsh said.
"They're just incredible, and it's iconic writing."
Earlier this week, Vernoff announced she would be stepping down as showrunner of both Grey's Anatomy and spinoff Station 19.

“Central Park,” the hit animated musical comedy series from Apple TV+, will return for its third season on Friday, September 9. Original cast member Kristen Bell is returning to star in Season 3 in the new role of Abby, Paige’s little sister.
In Season 1, Bell voiced Owen (Leslie Odom Jr.) and Paige’s (Kathryn Hahn) mixed raced daughter Molly, but she exited the series in 2020 because she believed it unjust for her to voice a biracial character.
“Casting a mixed race character w/a white actress undermines the specificity of the mixed race & Black American experience,” Bell’s statement read at the time.
From creator, writer and executive producer Loren Bouchard, Josh Gad and Nora Smith, the 13-episode third season of “Central Park” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with three episodes. It will be followed by one episode weekly every Friday through November 18.

Hollywood has a special knack for making people feel far from perfect and actresses are no exception. Here are 14 gorgeous women who have been told they were either too fat or too old to play a certain role.
Maggie Gyllenhaal “Sherrybaby” star, Maggie Gyllenhaal was turned down for a role because she was “too old” to play the love interest for a 55-year-old man. She was 37 at the time. “It was astonishing to me,” the actress told TheWrap. “It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh.”
Mary Elizabeth Winstead “Fargo” actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead recently revealed that not all her auditions have gone so smoothly during her career. Winstead told TheWrap about an audition several years ago in which a director — one who had apparently never encountered a normal, healthy human being before — accused the North Carolina-born actress of eating too much Southern fried food.

American Princess will not be returning for a second season, Deadline has confirmed. Lifetime has canceled the drama from Jenji Kohan, Jamie Denbo and Tara Herrmann, which was ordered straight-to-series last year.
Created, written and executive produced by Denbo, American Princess followed Amanda (Georgia Flood), an Upper East Side socialite who runs away from her own dream wedding when she realizes that the life she thought she wanted, wasn’t actually right after all. When she stumbles upon a Renaissance Faire, she experiences an unexpected awakening, leading her to leave everything she thought she cared about behind. While at the Faire, Amanda quickly develops new friendships, rivalries and romance that opens her eyes to new beginnings. Lucas Neff also starred.
The drama series was Lifetime’s last remaining scripted series, but the network denies it is getting out of the scripted business and has projects in development.

Jenji Kohan is a creative force helping to define two of the best shows of the streaming era — “Orange Is the New Black,” which she created, and “Glow,” on which she is an executive producer. “American Princess,” which she produces with creator Jamie Denbo, takes key elements of the Kohan playbook — a character placed in an unfamiliar community with its own distinct rules, a combination of utopian politics and disregard for cultural orthodoxy, a willingness to be gross and odd at times. Say this for Lifetime’s “American Princess,” then: Its failure makes clear what precise alchemy goes into making a show a success.
The pilot, for instance, is constructed with attention to story beats and to seeding conflicts, and paying them off with drama. Amanda Klein (Georgia Flood), a New York freelance writer, is gearing up for her gruesomely elaborate upstate wedding when she inadvertently discovers her soon-to-be-spouse bedding a sex worker.

Daddy’s Home Trailer. Sean Anders and John Morris‘s Daddy’s Home (2015) movie trailer stars Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Linda Cardellini, and Paul Scheer. Daddy’s Home‘s plot synopsis: “When a divorced guy’s ex-wife re-marries someone way more uptight, he re-enters her life and wreaks havoc.”
Mark Wahlberg has solidified himself as a viable comedic asset ever since Ted blew up the box-office. He was hysterical at various points in Boogie Nights, but that was a far more successful showcase for his dramatic chops than anything else. Bit parts in things like Date Night helped ramp up his official entry to comedy, and Ted just cemented that ability to transition in and out of it. This is now the second time Wahlberg joins Ferrell in a comedy – the two were in The Other Guys together in 2010.
