When he was in college, his girlfriend left him for a man named
Bernard. In each of his screenplays, there is a fairly unpopular
character named Bernard.
As a child, he lived in New Zealand, the Philippines, and Sweden
because his father was an executive of Unilever who was posted around
the world.
Ranked #12 in the 2008 Telegraph's list "the 100 most powerful people in British culture".
Together with Ben Elton, he was offered the chance to write "Police Academy 6: The London Beat", but refused.
Graduated from Oxford University with a First in English language and
literature.
Has four children: Scarlett Curtis , Jake Barnard, Charlie and Spike with long-time partner Emma Freud.
He was awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the
1994 Queen's Honours List before receiving a C.B.E. (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2000 Queen's Millennium Honors List for his services to Television and Film Comedy and to Comic Relief.
His family's original surname was Cicuto of Italian origin. According to an interview in early 2019 to The Russell Howard Hour (2017), Curtis said that his father was an Italian named Anton Cicuto (which later anglicised his name to Anthony Curtis).
