Scream Factory has just released Killer Klowns from Outer Space in 4K to celebrate its 35th Anniversary, and what an exciting time to be a fan of the 1980s movie. With the recent surge of Klownapalooza happening in the past few years, including tons of merch made available by Spirit Halloween and the much-anticipated video game scheduled to be released next month, it seems apropos for the Klowns to finally make their 4K debut.
In 1988, the Chiodo Brothers took their seemingly ridiculous premise of having otherworldly monsters in the form of circus clowns land on Earth to wreak havoc on a quiet little town and produced it into a full-length motion picture. Inspired by creature features and B-movies alike, their unconventional film with a deliberately hokey title would garner an initially significant following that evolved into a major cult classic close to four decades later.

One of the great things about the slasher sub-genre is the fact that it provides movies to watch for pretty much any holiday that comes along. For New Year’s Eve we have films like the original Terror Train, Bloody New Year, and the film we’re covering with the latest episode of the Real Slashers video series: 1980’s New Year’s Evil (watch it Here). To hear all about it, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Emmett Alston, who crafted the story with screenwriter Leonard Neubauer, New Year’s Evil has the following synopsis: On New Year’s Eve, a famous TV punk-rock lady icon hosts a late hour countdown celebration of music and partying. All goes well, until she receives a strange sounding phone call. Lonely women wanting to celebrate the holiday become easy prey for a maniacal murdering misogynist whose New Year’s resolution is to...

Thirty-five years down the line from the release of the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here), fans of the film have access to a whole lot of tie-in merchandise, have made their way through Killer Klowns-themed mazes at Halloween Horror Nights events, and have a video game to look forward to… but we still haven’t seen the sequel the film’s creators have been anxious to make for decades. Now, speaking with SFX magazine, Killer Klowns from Outer Space director Stephen Chiodo has revealed that he’s hoping to bring the sequel idea to life as an eight episode mini-series!
Chiodo told SFX (with thanks to Coming Soon for sharing the text), “My goal is to do an eight-part miniseries for streamers. We’ve got a great concept that continues the story of our main characters. We’ll follow a new group of teenagers...

G.O. Parsons, the writer behind the Nicolas Cage-led horror comedy Willy’s Wonderland, is up to his old tricks. Parsons wants to give automated animals another go with the Beast of Bower Boulevard, a three-part digital comic debuting this week. Initially funded on Kickstarter, Beast of Bower Boulevard unfolds in a secluded ski town, where a sheriff’s deputy and his family investigate after things go quiet. Once they reach their destination, they discover the urban area is under attack by a robot dinosaur built by the military!
Beast of Bower Boulevard gives off ’70s and ’80s vibes with a splash of absurdity. Initially written as a screenplay, Parsons converted the script after working with publisher American Mythology on the Willy’s Wonderland comics. While Parsons is thrilled about the Beast of Bower Boulevard stomping onto the comic book page, he’s not ruling out a live-action adaptation if a studio shows interest.

‘Santa Claws’ – A Sleazy, Cheesy Holiday Oddity from ‘Night of the Living Dead’ Co-Writer John Russo
While George A. Romero was able to parlay the success of Night of the Living Dead into a career in the film industry, co-writer John A. Russo never quite found his footing. Any filmmaker would be lucky to have a movie a fraction as impactful as Night of the Living Dead on their resume, but Russo’s cinematic imprint beyond that was minimal.
In addition to publishing numerous books and producing The Return of the Living Dead and the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead, Russo wrote and directed a handful of independent horror movies over the years. Although they failed to reach a wide audience, he generated a few low-budget cult classics, including the 1996 Christmas slasher Santa Claws.

Our friends at Bloody Disgusting were told, “This blood-pumping track pays homage to the original ‘Klown March’ recorded in 1987, while also adding darker, unexpected modern twists to its structure.”

Back in 1988, the Chiodo Brothers brought us the cult classic horror comedy Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) – and pretty much ever since, they have been hoping to get the chance to make a sequel to the film. There’s still no word on a Killer Klowns 2, but sometime in 2023 there will be a Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game released for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One… and during a conversation with ComicBook.com, the Chiodos revealed that some of the ideas they had for a sequel have been worked into the game.
Edward Chiodo told the site, “The game is being developed by Teravision with us acting as executive producers and creative advisers. One of our main focus points was making sure that the game captures the right look and unique spirit that the film had which fans feel so emotionally connected to. We...

A couple months ago, it was announced that a video game based on the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) will be released for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One sometime in 2023. A trailer for the game can be seen in the embed above, and now the folks at IGN have shared a video that shows how closely the video game resembles the movie it’s based on. That video can be viewed at the bottom of this article.
When the announcement was made, it was said that the video game maps would be “inventive, but faithful recreations of iconic locations from the Killer Klowns from Outer Space movie.” The video below does a great job of showing just how faithful these location recreations are.
The Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game is a multiplayer, asymmetrical (3 vs 7) horror game that pits three Klowns against seven Humans.

It's a balmy summer evening, the stars are out, and something strange just dropped out of the sky and landed in the woods near your hometown. What should you do? Warn the sheriff, knowing he never really listens to punk kids like you anyway? Investigate and poke it with a stick? Or ignore it and carry on making out in the back of your Convertible?
All the above answers are viable and correct if you're a stock character in a B movie horror involving hostile visitors from outer space, who like parking up on the edge of a small town where the hicks are too dumb to realize what is going on until it's almost too late. The premise was a staple of the atomic-era science fiction of the 1950s, and many directors who grew up with fond memories of those movies made their own versions in the 1980s.

Grant Cramer sits at his office desk. On the wall behind him hangs framed movie posters: Willy’s Wonderland (2021), which he produced, and a poster of The Stunt Man (1980) autographed by its director, Richard Rush, who was a mentor to him. Cramer’s career in show business spans 40 years and includes film and television acting, producing, and writing. His dirty blond hair is pulled back into a ponytail. He sports a beard, and he has that kind of smile that spreads throughout his entire face and crinkles his eyes. He’s generous with his time, and over the next hour, we talk horror, killer klowns, absurdity, acting, Hollywood politics, and living a life in the present with gratitude and passion.

Syrian-American actor Jay Abdo (“Hologram for the King”) is set to play the lead in “Broadcast,” a drama about the atrocities of the Syrian civil war that will mark the directorial debut of U.S. actor and producer Grant Cramer.
Cramer has produced several indie pics of various genres, including Afghanistan-set Special Forces thriller “Lone Survivor,” which was shot in New Mexico. He more recently produced the Nicolas Cage horror-comedy “Willy’s Wonderland.”
Cramer initially came on board “Broadcast” as a producer and subsequently made it his passion project and directorial debut, according to a statement.

To ring in the new year, select members of the Trailers From Hell team celebrated by watching the holiday’s signature slasher picture, the rock ‘n’ roll serial killer thriller New Year’s Evil (1980).
New Year’s Evil is a nasty little slice of fiction. The set-up: Hollywood TV punk rock host with the most Diane “Blaze” Sullivan (Roz Kelly) finds herself the subject of a series of sinister phone calls in the midst of a televised New Year’s Eve concert extravaganza she’s presenting. The caller (Kip Niven) speaks through a voice modulator and uses pay phones, identifying himself only as “Evil.”
“Evil” informs Blaze that he has already begun killing a series of women, some of whom are connected to her, at the stroke of midnight across several time zones. He has already handled Eastern Standard Time by the time he rings her, and recorded the murder for good measure.

Exclusive: Charles “Charlie” Wiggins, the most famous African American race car driver of the 1920s and 1930s, is to be the subject of a new biopic, whose producing partners will include racing staples IndyCar and Firestone.
Set in the roaring 20s and depression era 30s, Eraced will chronicle the triumphs and struggles of the once-legendary-now-little-known Charlie “Speed King” Wiggins, who worked his way from shoe shine to mechanic to star racer despite the inequities of segregation and Jim Crow laws. After being barred repeatedly from whites-only racing events, Wiggins became a leading light of the parallel Colored Speedway Association and won the prestigious annual Gold and Glory Sweep-stakes four times between 1926 and 1935. Despite his remarkable achievements, Wiggins died almost penniless thanks to crippling medical bills which he had to pay for decades after suffering a career-ending injury in 1936.
The pioneering sportsman will be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame next week in Detroit.

Despite his remarkable achievements, Wiggins died almost penniless thanks to crippling medical bills which he had to pay for decades after suffering a career-ending injury in 1936.
The pioneering sportsman will be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame next week in Detroit.

Though they exist to entertain and make us laugh, there are few things people find scarier than clowns. Why that is, I cannot say; it’s a combination of the makeup, I think, and the fact that there is a person in there whose motivations for hiding under that makeup are unclear. As such, they have been a staple of the horror genre for close to 40 years, whether it’s Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King’s It (the novel and the two film adaptations) or the clown that attacks poor Robbie in Poltergeist or the undead clown in Zombieland or the spate of horror films from just the last few years all based around clowns: Stitches, Terrifier, Clown, and, most recently, Gags. While some may be scarier and they all vary in quality and degrees of success, there is no better clown horror movie than Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

This May will be the 30th anniversary of when viewers were first introduced to those cotton candy-loving visitors from above in Stephen Chiodo's Killer Klowns From Outer Space, and on May 19th in Los Angeles, the movie's three-decade mark will be celebrated in style at The Montalban Theatre.
Similar to a three-ring circus, the May 19th celebration will include multiple performance for attendees to enjoy, including fortune tellers, contortionist Bonnie Morgan (who played Samara in Rings), a Q&A with the cast and crew, and a screening of Killer Klowns From Outer Space with a live score accompaniment from The Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, conducted by composer John Massari.
