[Hello, readers! To celebrate Valentine's Day, the Daily Dead team thought it would be fun to do things a little differently this year. We're putting the spotlight on our favorite horror-loving characters from genre cinema—people who have represented our own fandom on screen and, in many cases, helped bring our passion for horror into the mainstream. Be sure to check here for more of our tributes to some of the greatest horror fans to ever grace the big screen.]
As a kid, while I loved every possible monster out there, I was a total vampire nerd through and through. I’m not sure what it was that completely drew me in—perhaps it was their power, their bloodlust, their uninhibited nature, or even their immortality—but vampires were where it was at, as far as I was concerned during my childhood. Which brings me to my picks for my favorite horror fans in cinema: Mark Petrie from Tobe Hooper’s miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s ’Salem’s Lot, and Charley Brewster from the original Fright Night. To be honest, it was hard for me to choose between the characters, simply because they both meant so much to me growing up, so I felt like I needed to give each of them their due here.

The eighth episode of The Ultimate Fighter 11 is all business and it has to be as there are two fights for the price of one.
Team Punishment fighters, Kycaey Uscola and Kris McCray, face off in the first Tuf "wildcard" fight. The concept of the wildcard is to give two fighters who lost close or competitive bouts a second chance in the competition. The episode barely stops long enough to mention the fact that Kyacey's son was born. A few seconds of tears of joy, a call with the mom and it's on to the mood music of pounding drums to set up the fight with Kris McCray.
Tito Ortiz decideds to take a backseat to the fight sayng, "I will be on the bleacehrs and I won't say anything. I'm going to let these guys fight it out as men". Oh, the testosterone is palpable!

It's hard not to feel down on Team Punishment as Tito's crew find themselves down 4-1 with an impending coach resignation coming down the pipeline. Worse yet, it is starting to appear that Ortiz has a mutiny on his hands as Kyacey Uscola --a fighter whose career record is 18-15-- begins to question Tito's strategy for the fighters. Essentially, Uscola believes that Tito is overtraining the fighters who are quickly tiring in fights they should win handily. The Kris McCray loss is simply the latest example. Of course every member of Team Punishment says that everything is peachy Tito still holds a pow-wow to make sure the team is still on the same page. Kyacey is upset with being verbally called out in a team function but he forgets that the best way to build commrodiry is through verbal abuse. At least, that's what my fraternity taught me...

Before I begin with this week's recap I have a confession. Last week's review was incomplete as my DVR was full without my knowledge and cut off the ending. Don't worry, the excess episodes of Gilmore Girls have been removed (the price I pay for a female companionship) and this week's recap will be complete. Sorry for any confusion.
Now that my pennace is complete let's talk about Tuf.
Last week, Spike producers were awarded for their wickness when Tuf 11 villain, Jamie Yager, defeated Charles Blanchard with a vicious superman punch Tko to regain control Team Ortiz Punishment.
At the house discussion turns to this season's added twist -- the wild card. As there are only 14 fighters this season that leaves an odd number for the quarter finals. That's where the wild card comes in. Dana White and the coaches will pick two eliminated fighters to fight for the final quarter final spot.

If your relationship with The Ultimate Fighter is the equivalent of your on-again, off-again relationship with that special someone then these first few episodes represent the happy honeymoon of a fresh flirtatious relationship with a familiar person. Don’t worry, that brief spat of happiness will soon disappear. Luckily for viewers, we are still in that golden zone where everything is peachy and all those old flaws that drove us apart haven’t caused us to break up—yet.
It is in that spirit that we dive right into the second episode of the eleventh season of The Ultimate Fighter. For those that missed the first episode, it cut the cast down from 28 contestants to 14. Now it is time for the coaches to pick their teams.
Tito Ortiz wins the obligatory coin toss and elects to select the first fighter meaning that Chuck Liddell will get to pick the first...
