- Separated from his first wife in 1914 and received a "Mexican Divorce" from her in 1925.
- Second wife Lillian Trimble Bradley became his general stage director in 1919. The couple had previously collaborated on the writing of several plays.
- Abandoning his training to be a cleric, he left home at age 15 and booked passage to America. He did not return home to visit until he had achieved success on Broadway.
- Such Broadway luminaries as Minnie Maddern Fiske, E.H. Sothern, James K. Hackett, William Gillette and John Bunny appeared in his plays.
- His most successful plays were "The Wrong Mr. Wright", "What Happen to Jones", "The Crown Prince", "A Fool and His Money" and "The Man of the Hour".
- Wrote and produced plays on Broadway for over 30 years.
