- Caterina Boratto was born on March 15, 1915 in Turin, Piedmont, Italy. She was an actress, known for Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975), 8½ (1963) and Castle Keep (1969). She was married to Armando Ceratto. She died on September 14, 2010 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

- Her first director, Guido Brignone, found some difficulties to persuade her family: they did not want their daughter to become an actress
- In 1938, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer tycoon Louis B. Mayer offered Boratto a contract. She was invited to Hollywood where she was groomed to be the new Jeanette MacDonald but nothing came out of it and Boratto soon grew impatient. She decided to return to Italy just after the war was declared.
