Al Ashton was born on June 26, 1957 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, UK. He was an actor and writer, known for Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998), Gladiator (2000) and Screenplay (1986). He was married to Sue Gibson. He died on April 27, 2007 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England, UK.
He was a naturist and often worked at home in the nude - with the
curtains closed to keep out prying eyes!.
He had three children with his ex-wife, Sue: son, Michael (born in 1987); son, Jay (born in 1998); and daughter, Dale (born in 1995). He is survived by his partner, Ann.
He used the name Al Ashton or Al Hunter Ashton for his work as an
actor, because there was already an actor called Alan Hunter. For his
scriptwriting work, he used his real name Al Hunter. He chose the
surname Ashton because he was in Ashton-under-Lyne at the time that he
had to decide on an acting name.
