Adria Arjona and Glen Powell may have some very steamy scenes in “Hit Man,” but filming them was anything but sexy.
It all went wrong when they were shooting in a bathtub and someone added Dawn dish washing soap to the water. “That strips you of all your oils of your skin,” Arjona says on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “That’s used for baby ducks when there’s an oil spill for God’s sake. We soaked in this bathtub for an hour and I get out of the tub and all of a sudden I dry myself and I can’t bend my knees because I have no oils.”
She was not only in pain, but she and Powell ended up covered in nasty rashes. But the show had to go on. “That was the day that we filmed all of our sex...

Who didn’t Tony Bennett duet with?
The legendary singer was famously known for his Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Duet albums that featured everyone from Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse to Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand.
Here, we celebrate the collaborative efforts of Bennett, who died Friday at age 96.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga ditched the upbeat, electronic dance sound that made her popular to work with Bennett on jazz music, a genre she had been singing since she was a teenager. The New Yorkers first collaborated on “The Lady Is a Tramp” from Bennett’s 2011 release Duets II. The pairing was so perfect they went on to record 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, with Bennett and Gaga hoping to turn more kids to jazz music. “[Gaga] has a vast group of young people who love her, and they’ve never heard popular jazz music, classical American music … and my ambition was to do this...

Revamped with a Latino cast, the 2022 iteration of “Father of the Bride” harnesses the generational and cultural divide between immigrants and their children to put a spin on this romantic comedy premise 30 years after the release of the previous version starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton (and 72 years after Spencer Tracy walked Elizabeth Taylor down the aisle).
With new gravitas, this venerable property serves as an excellent vehicle for veteran Cuban-born actor Andy Garcia to savor a lead role that feels custom-made for him.
This is Mexican filmmaker Gaz Alazraki’s first feature since his 2013 mega hit “We Are the Nobles” (“Nosotros los Nobles”) broke box office records in his home country. Alazraki went on to create Netflix’s first Spanish-language episodic series, the soccer comedy “Club de Cuervos.” That screenwriter Matt Lopez is an American-born Latino and the director a Mexican national making strides in Hollywood make this reboot...

With the continued crossover success of Latin music in the English-language marketplace, the Grammys have continued to evolve their Latin awards. This year the recording academy split up pop and urban music into their own categories (they were combined last year). So who can we expect to win on January 31? Let’s break down three of the top races.
SEE2022 Grammy predictions: Top 3 artists you shouldn’t underestimate for possible upsets Best Latin Pop Album
This award might be a tight race between American pop star/actress Selena Gomez and Colombian superstar Camilo. On one hand, this category does have its fair share of crossover winners like Ricky Martin, Bad Bunny, Shakira, and Marc Anthony, which helps Gomez a lot. Furthermore, she is very much in the public eye right now, doing promo for her new movie “Hotel Transylvania 4” as well as gaining awards buzz for her role in...

This just might be the best revelación of Selena Gomez's year! Fans have been collectively squealing since the 29-year-old singer earned a Grammy nomination for her Latin Pop album, Revelación, earlier today, on Nov. 23. Released in March, the album, which is Selena's first project to feature music prominently in Spanish, earned Selena's first ever Latin Grammy nomination earlier this year for the music video for its opening track, "De Una Vez." In the 2022 Grammy category for Latin Pop Album, Selena is up against Pablo Alboran, Paula Arenas, Ricardo Arjona, Camilo and Alex Cuba. Selena's big honor comes more...

Brazilian hit comedy troupe Porta Dos Fundos, renowned for its irreverent take on the life of Christ in their annual Christmas Specials, is making its first animated special exclusively for streamer Paramount Plus.
The new Paramount Plus Original, titled “Mean Boys,” is written by troupe co-founder Fábio Porchat and co-produced by Vis Americas and Brazilian animation studio, Estricnina.
The move makes sense given that ViacomCBS took a majority stake in Porta dos Fundos in 2017 and co-produced last year’s special with Porta dos Fundos.
“Mean Boys” will give the audience a peek at Jesus’ teenage life before he became Christ as he enrolls in a new high school and, with the help of his pal Lázaro, tries to fit in. “We always wanted to make an animation [film],” said Porchat, adding: “This pandemic turned our desire into a necessity. After all, drawing can’t transmit a virus.” The pandemic continues to...

Bad Bunny knows how to take people off-guard. His career has felt like a non-stop parade of unexpected releases, projects, and sonic experiments — but teaming up with Tommy Torres, a 49-year-old singer-songwriter and balladeer from Puerto Rico, and co-producing and co-writing El Playlist de Anoche, an album full of sun-bright pop songs, is a curveball, even for him.
El Playlist de Anoche came out on July 23rd, and though the two had dropped hints that a collaboration was coming on social media, the album took lots of fans by surprise...

Miami, Oct 10 (Ians/Efe) Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona has presented his new work "Arjona Metamorfosis en vivo", a documentary DVD gathering together the best portions of his latest concert tour.
"It's complicated to compress a year and six months of touring into two hours," the singer acknowledged, saying that at the beginning it cost a great deal to get this tour under way because of its spectacular stage.
The production was very complicated because "it was a bit different from what we were accustomed to", Arjona said.
Included on the DVD are parts of concerts in New York, Puerto Rico, Miami, Buenos Aires, Guatemala and Colombia, among others. There are also images of the first concert, in Toluca,.

It’s been a good week for Juanes and Jesse y Joy. Not only did they earn some nominations for this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, they’re up for some Grammy gold too. Several Tr3s faves scored nods from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, as did mainstream acts like Fun., Frank Ocean and Mumford & Sons.
As far as the Latinos are concerned, El Rockero and J y J picked up the most buzz. They’re both up for Best Latin Pop Album against artists like Fonseca, Kany Garcia and Ricardo Arjona. Romeo Santos earned a nod in the Tropical Album category (which surprisingly omitted Prince Royce’s Phase II).

The documentary "The Zen Of Bennett," which premiered this week in New York City, is a soulful, intimate portrait of crooner Tony Bennett, who turned 85 this year and remains at the top of his game.
His 2011 "Duets II" -- a collaboration with artists ranging from Lady Gaga and Willy Nelson to Aretha Franklin and Andrea Bocelli -- won two Grammys and hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making him the oldest living artist in history to capture the top spot. This week he released "Viva Duets," a collaboration with Latin artists, including Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera and Ricardo Arjona.
