You know their names: Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Christy Turlington. The supermodel quartet reached instant fame and held the fashion industry in the palm of their hands in the Nineties. To filmmaker Roger Ross Williams, they were the first influencers with indelible power, photographed globally and enamored by millions.
“They’d seen them in pictures,” Williams says to Rolling Stone, “but they hadn’t heard them speak.”

Though beauty is subjective, some images, portraits and spaces are so exquisite that they become timeless, forever solidified in the imagination of popular culture. The perfect image brings in consumers. Since advertising began, models have always held a place in society. Yet, during the late ’80s and the ’90s, one group of models transcended fashion to become icons.
In the new Apple TV+ docuseries “The Super Models,” co-directors Roger Ross Williams and Larissa Bills examine the careers of legends Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington. Four very different women from varied backgrounds began their journeys as teens, later leaping off the pages of magazines and onto global runways. As they became more powerful and recognized outside the fashion industry — even as society started to press back against unrealistic beauty standards — they learned to speak up for themselves and each other during an era in which women were still tethered to silence.

Lady Gaga didn’t just disrupt the music industry when she debuted in 2008, but fashion as we know it. Her avant-garde style and willingness to take risks have resulted in some of the most iconic red carpet looks of the modern age. The singer’s aesthetic has become more refined in recent years as she entered her 30s and evolved to a new stage in her career, but that hasn’t stopped her from turning heads on just about every red carpet she walks.
Some of Gaga’s most memorable looks have come at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she has worn everything from a Victorian-style dress to menswear to her instantly iconic “meat dress.” She has also pulled off a few headline-grabbing stunts, arriving at one Grammys ceremony in an egg pod and entering the American Music Awards red carpet on a mechanical white horse. ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Costume Designers Reveal Their Favorite Looks on the Film’s 15th Anniversary
“The Devil Wears Prada” turns 15 on June 30, but like any good fashion piece, it remains timeless.
Anne Hathaway plays Andy Sachs, a recent college graduate who has come to work at Runway, a high-fashion magazine overseen by haughty editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. Emily Blunt co-stars as Andy’s colleague, Emily, with Stanley Tucci as Nigel, the magazine’s art director.
Costume designer Patricia Field was Oscar-nominated for assembling the film’s stunning wardrobe, from its magnificent array of coats to the selection of moody sunglasses. Assistant costume designer Tracy Cox, who worked with Field on the final season of “Sex and the City,” was relatively new to the job when he joined the team.
“I knew I was involved with something special because Meryl Streep was there,” Cox says. “When she came in and we had her fittings and picked out her wigs and all of that,...

We are deceased! Normani is giving us all of the "motivation" for Halloween with her fierce, fabulous and drool-worthy costume. Even though the fun and festive holiday is still a day away, the 23-year-old pop star dressed up as the one and only Naomi Campbell, and she knocked it out of the park. Of course, the "Motivation" singer didn't just recreate any ole look. Instead, she took inspiration from an iconic Azzedine Alaïa design that Naomi modeled in the early '90s. Wearing a curve-hugging leopard-print bodysuit, the former Fifth Harmony crooner channeled the legendary supermodel perfectly. Normani even accessorized her costume with nearly identical pieces...

The actor recalls how Béatrice Dalle set her on a mission to channel French arthouse cool
The 80s were such a great time for movies, and I don’t think that gets celebrated enough. Before the blockbusters took over, people would go to see cult movies in foreign languages that would take over the world on word of mouth. Betty Blue was a film I absolutely adored as an 18-year-old. A girlfriend took me to see it at a cinema on Piccadilly Circus, which sadly isn’t there any more but which used to show all sorts of fringe arthouse movies. I went in not knowing what to expect and came out totally stunned. I was sobbing. Ugly crying! I immediately chopped my hair into a bob and would walk around London in a black Azzedine Alaïa dress and go to the Café de Paris, dancing to La Vie en Rose...

Lady Gaga may have received the applause, applause, applause for her tribute to The Sound of Music at the 87th Annual Academy Awards Sunday, but she was also the most celebrated star on social media for another reason: those gloves. The "Applause" singer, 28, wore Azzedine Alaïa on the red carpet, for her performance and at Vanity Fair's after-party, but unfortunately, the Internet created memes in droves. Chloë Grace Moretz, Lupita Nyong'o and will.i.am.'s outfits were also mocked. The memes weren't just about the Oscar fashion, however. With a rock like this one, why on Earth would you ever cover it up? Well, if you're Lady Gaga, a custom-made Azzedine Alaïa outfit must take precedent before sentiment. Actually, the real story behind Gaga covering up the heart-shaped engagement ring from boyfriend Taylor Kinney with elbow-length red gloves is much simpler. "Mr. Alaïa actually designed this before I was engaged to Taylor," Gaga explained. "It wasn't [strategic]." Sharks are having a moment. Following Katy Perry's Super Bowl performance, Rihanna literally swims with sharks for the March issue of Harper's Bazaar. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of "Jaws," RiRi recreated a few famous scenes from the movie by swimming with the sea creatures and posing in the jaws of a shark's mouth. The mag uses the idea of swimming with sharks as a metaphor, as the "Diamonds" singer says she's had plenty of experience dealing with so-called "sharks" outside of the water too. "I try my best to avoid the sharks of life, but I have had my share of experiences with them, and in those cases I just have to handle them accordingly. But I do not swim with sharks … sharks swim with sharks,” she explains. The "Monster" singer also says that this particular photo shoot is probably the craziest thing she's done in a while.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are tying the knot this weekend, and it's time for you to get caught up on the details before their big day. The couple, who got engaged in October 2013, haven't spilled too much info about their impending nuptials but have been spotted running a few errands that seem rather wedding-centric, including a trip to city hall in La for a confidential marriage license and some possible dress shopping in Paris. The songstress certainly isn’t shy when it comes to flaunting her curves, but this fashion risk seemed to flop! Do you agree? Vote!
Rihanna stepped out in a velvet maroon jumpsuit that would make Miley Cyrus jealous while in Paris on June 4. The 25-year-old singer channeled her inner catwoman while at a dinner for designer Azzedine Alaïa. Do you think the curve-hugging suit is sexy or strange? Did the singer take it too far this time or is she flawless as usual?
Rihanna’s Jumpsuit In Paris:
The “S&M” singer definitely spiced things up in Paris in a maroon colored Azzedine Alaïa velvet catsuit that allowed her to flaunt her sexy figure. The suit was form-fitting with a deep V cut in the front that showed off some of RiRi’s cleavage as well as her curves. The short sleeves helped to cover some skin on the top and balanced out the suit.

Wardrobe changes are a crucial part of award shows, but unlike Rihanna, not many of last night’s Grammy stars had Three separate outfits up their sleeves. The frequent red carpet dweller dazzled on arrival, adhering to CBS and the Recording Academy’s newest wardrobe wishes, while still leaving the threat of a visible underboob alive and well via her two performance ensembles. But did the 2013 Grammy Awards feature her best award show looks yet?
RiRi opted for floor-length dresses and left her brown locks long, wild, and free, creating the illusion of a flawless mermaid walking on land as she floated from her seat to the stage with effortless grace. Her red carpet gown by Azzedine Alaïa–who’s like a really important designer–was sheer enough to create some buzz around her potential lack of undergarments, pushing the much-talked about stuffy boundaries yet keeping her free from Grammy Jail.

‘Do you prefer “fashion victim” or “ensemble-y challenged”?’ Josie Sampson, creator of Film Reel Fashion examines the legacy of Mona May’s costume design for Clueless (1995, directed by Amy Heckerling).
When Clueless arrived onto screens in the mid-1990s, it ensured Alicia Silverstone’s Cher Horowitz became an overnight sensation. Teenage girls identified with Cher’s heartbreak and social worries, simultaneously envying her revolving wardrobe and online outfit chooser. Loosely based on the plot of Jane Austen’s Emma, this is a High School film at its finest. Set in sunny Beverly Hills with a free rein of Daddy’s credit card, the fashion is of utmost importance and communal acceptance. These are girls on the precipice of adulthood, their levels of sophistication undeveloped and gaudy. Inwardly, they are desperate to be taken seriously and their garishly matched designer uniforms are their outward attempts at this.
